Now here's a Sonic announcement I can get behind. Even if Sonic in a car is the world's biggest redundancy.
Gotta try and wash out the taste of the movie trailer with some gameplay.

Looks really good, the delay must have done the game some good since it looks much better than in footage from last year.
What's this about players getting eliminated? Must be something for the single-player?
Also hope there are faster speeds. Seemed a bit slow.

You can race in teams and share items with your mates? Am I seeing this right? Does this also work in multiplayer?

Yeah, it's the main gimmick of the game.
You can do traditional one player races as well, I believe.
I do think it looks a tad slow but I'm guessing this is essentially 50cc gameplay, especially if it's from early in the story which seems to be the case with the first race. I feel like other recent trailers have shown it being much faster.
Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to buying the soundtrack when it's available!

I could be wrong but I thought every version of Sonic was 60fps and Crash is only 60fps on a pro.

I don't think it was ever actually confirmed that Crash is 60 on pro.
Wow, I remember reading an awful preview about this game on IGN, I had really considered it dead at that point, this looks great though.

Very nice artstyle but doesn't interest me besides that. It's great that they want to bring back the karting genre.
Crash is likely 30fps on everything, Sonic likely 60fps on everything although we're waiting to hear about the Switch port.
This will fill the Mario Kart 9-sized hole in my heart nicely. Been a long five years since I've had a new racing game to play.
The tracks look great and seem to have that classic SEGA vibe! Too bad about the non-Sonic characters though. Also the video quality seems kinda bad.
It's probably fair to say there are other speed tiers, considering Transformed had C, B, A and an Unlockable S class of speed.

Sega neglects their legacy franchises in every other aspect of their business. Why should we accept them neglecting those franchises in one of the few instances where it makes absolute sense to make use of them?
It's a sad state of affairs. :(
It looks great but I wonder why they made it a new series and not just put some extra effort and make another sonic and Sega racing transformed

Not been following this game, does the team aspect mean that in single player your success is determined in some part by the performance of your AI team mates? Finishing postion seems to be based on an aggregate of the team members' placings. Can see that being frustrating if so.
Man, the track design in this game seems REALLY good.
It can, it seems like the team racing aspect is a mode, and if it's like other team racing games, then yes, you could theoretically come in first and still lose due to your team.
There are other more traditional modes though.
