Classic Anus Game
The Fallen

To recapitulate:

- 21 tracks.
- 7 zones.
- Story Mode.
- Split-Screen Multiplayer.
- Single Racing.
- Team Racing.
- Team Builder.
- Online play.
- 15 characters.
- 130 OST tracks.
- Car Customization.

The delay did wonders on this game, and I went from waiting on a sale to definitely grabbing it day one. After the drought of Kart racers this gen I'm dying for one, and thankfully with the release of CTR next month too it seems like the genre is getting revitalized at least.

I just wanted it to be SEGA icons, not just Sonic. Other than that: This is gonna be a good game, the other two also were.

Looking forward to it. 21 track is a bit of an odd number. Are they splitting tournaments into groups of 3? Minor issue, but I'm not a fan of that.

Do we know if it's going to be a full priced game? and have they spoke about DLC plans? The DLC for previous games was overall, underwhelming. I liked the content but there wasn't enough of it. Usually just individual tracks and characters.

Was a 9 when announced, 0 now.

Too many delays and just does not look interesting even with the extra time. Sonic Racing games were my surprise of last gen, not a sonic fan persay but man the last two were a good time.

This is 60fps, right?

While I expect CTR to be the more beautiful game, I think the actual gameplay in Sonic Team Racing might be better.

It's the definition of a "wait and see/wait for a sale" kind of game.

Been looking forward to this since it was announced. It's a shame it's solely Sonic, but I'm just glad they've moved away from the transforming nonsense.

I haven't even played the last one with characters and tracks from different Sega franchises, so that comes first. Any day now...

I'd probably have bought a new full Sega kart racer anyway though, but limiting the game to Sonic has me less interested.

Expecting a solid 7/10 kart racer with great music. Prolly in for day one since it's only $40, but I could see myself passing if the reception is rancid.

Don't like the team focus, and taking out other sega reps to make this only sonic was a terrible idea for track and roster variety. Not interested.

Waiting to hear about Switch framerate but I'll probably get it. Sumo's arcade racers are top tier.

I'll probably buy it down the line. I have almost no interest in Sonic and his Shitty Friends, but both the previous games were great and there's sadly not enough representation in the karting/arcade racer genre any more, so I will do what I can to help.

I feel like I've seen like 3 hype check threads for this game by now lol. Anyway, as you can probably guess by my avatar, I absolutely hate Sonic and definitely won't be purchasing this Day 1.

There are 7 zones (aka track themes) with 3 courses each. So you have Seaside Hill and Casino Park from Heroes, Planet Wisp from Colors, Spagonia from Unleashed, Ice and Desert zones that are an amalgamation of various levels from Sonic 3/Adventure/Advance/Forces/etc., and one zone that they haven't revealed yet. Unlike the first All-Stars Racing game they actually manage to have some pretty varied courses within each theme though, so for example Spagonia has your typical Rooftop Run daytime stage, one that takes place mostly in the clouds, and a spooky track based on the night stages.

Also it's $40 and they've said there aren't any DLC plans.

You, you're now my enemy.

The transformation aspect of Sonic Racing Transformed was great, it's a shame it's gone.

Going to wait and see on this one. I'm guessing it'll be X Enhanced and hopefully a locked 60 FPS, both will help.

I'm still curious on how the team racing mechanics are supposed to work, like I can be 8th and still win because my team mate went first?

And also, how I'm supposed to support my partner besides using items?

I'll get it, later. Going to a Sonic-centric roster from the Sega-allstars ones we used to have was a step down in itself. And then the roster we do get is pretty safe/boring.

We don't know how exactly the points will shake out, but I assume it will calculate an average of the placing for everyone's team to determine the winner.

You can gift items to teammates, follow a teammate's line for a speed boost, and drive into a teammate to recover them from being hit with an item.

Do we know if you can play story mode splitscreen? That's what will decide when I buy it. Looks good though and I'll pick it up eventually either way.

Waiting to hear about the framerate. The other two games never came close to maintaining a consistent framerate on console. Also not a fan of it going Sonic-only. The fun of the other games were the characters from other Sega games.

I'll probably get it sometime down the line.

I love kart racing games and what I played of Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed (thanks to Xbox GWG) was pretty fun, so I'd like to give this a shot. I'm just more interested in Crash Team Racing's release in June though.

Day one, though I'm not sure which platform. Switch seems fitting but I mostly play docked anyway so might just swing for how it runs on PS4 Pro

While I expect CTR to be the more beautiful game, I think the actual gameplay in Sonic Team Racing might be better.

I mean, CTR is lorded for its gameplay. I think the PS1 game is ahead of any kart racer currently on the market (only comparable in gameplay depth to MK Double Dash).

It might not be for everyone though. As with all games, but I think gameplay is why the game is so revered.

I feel like I've seen like 3 hype check threads for this game by now lol. Anyway, as you can probably guess by my avatar, I absolutely hate Sonic and definitely won't be purchasing this Day 1.

Sounds reasonable. I guess 3 track 'zones' is okay, and having all stages be unique sounds great. I think Sonic stages are likely to have stronger visual themes than some of the tracks in their previous games. I wasn't a fan of some of the tracks like Burning Rangers and Skies of Arcadia - even as a big fan of Skies.

Shame about the lack of DLC plans though.

Will buy at some point, but I still don't understand the decision to go with Sonic characters only after the first two games. Makes no sense to me and seems like a decision with no upside.

Heck yeah. Not the popular opinion on era, but I'm way more excited for this game than Crash.

I don't know, I feel that after the reveal of Crash being 30 fps in non premium consoles plus the clear improvement of Sonic Racing, I feel that here Sega's game is more popular.

Now in the real world, Crash will beat this game since lots of people have fond memories from the psx game

Day 1. Sonic Racing series has always had that Sega's arcade racing vibe that I love. They aren't just party racing games. That's why I loved those game so much and I think the story will be the same with Team Sonic Racing.

Also

I'll buy it on PS4 for 60fps experience, then Switch If the port is good.

I'll get it down the line. I looooooove Sonic All-stars Racing Transformed and will defend its status as the best kart racer 'till the day I die, but this one doing away with SEGA all-stars and transforming, while focusing on team racing (why?) is making me wait for a sale.

Honestly would people have really wanted this to be an All-Stars Racing game? It's obviously a lower-budget project so the transforming stuff was never coming back, and with only 15 characters and 7 level themes there probably just would have been endless complaining about how many franchises were cut/represented. If they do another ASR I want them to go all out on fanservice.

You can gift items to teammates, follow a teammate's line for a speed boost, and drive into a teammate to recover them from being hit with an item.

At EGX 2018, it was like:

DnpEkr8W4AATG6-

DnpEkr7WwAApqsX

As you can see...if you place 1st and 2nd in a race (like Blaze and Silver) and a teammate finished last (like Vector)...you'll win anyway.

Now people might not mind this, but that is not fine for me as my team did well, dammit!

BONUS: This is what happens when I'm in 1st and Sonic is 12th on the last lap, so I just offer every item I get (all homing weirdly):

The latest trailer did give me hype. I had negative hype before. The game actually made me mad, considering how much I loved the last Sonic racing game. But now? Looks pretty good, actually!

Still won't get it at launch, but I will probably buy it on sale.
