Game looks cool and all but yeah, my hype would be something else if it was still a SEGA racer.

Just adding Kiryu from Yakuza would be glorious. Also, I liked the Team Fortress 2 and (Wreck-it) Ralph inclusions in the previous game.

I have no idea when this is out so can't say I'm that hyped. I enjoyed All-Stars Racing but this is completely out of my radar. Not to mention i've seen extremely little promotion on this.

21st of May, which is shown in the trailers of the game the past couple of weeks, and also using Google.

It's good we don't have to wait like half a year for the PC release like Transformed. I was perfectly fine with double dipping at the time haha.

PC is a Day 1 for sure., however I may go PC/Switch depending on how well the Switch one runs.

Another vote for no interest here, ditching the non-sonic characters was a huge mistake. I get that Sonic is their flagship character but fuck that, his shitty sonic friends get way too much coverage already considering the number of franchises that no longer exist, who could have made a very welcome cameo in this.

I mean come on SEGA, you still have the Initial D licence just sat around behind a sofa somewhere. We could of had Panzer Dragoon guy racing to europop, overtaking Samba De Amigo, on a House of the Dead map - but nope, big the fucking cat it is on a bunch of levels that all look the same.

(Okay, I regret that, Big is awesome.. I wanted to slag off the rest, but they are so unmemorable I can't recall a single name.. cream the rabbit? was that one or is that just some R34 thing..)

I think the gameplay looks wishy washy and is lacking a lot of energy and speed. Everything else is pretty on point, with customization and kickass music.

I bought Sonic Riders as a way to get a taste of Sonic racing even though the games are completely different. Does this count as hyped?

Pretty excited for this, though I may have to wait a bit before getting it.

This game's concept looks completely stupid. Sonic is in a car. May as well have Spiderman just walk around New York. These characters all can run fast. This is like me having a lawnmower racing game.

Guess it is back to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for me and Crash Team Racing as well.

An entire 9 years late with this observation. Impressive.

We don't know about framerate for switch but assume it's 30 fps and be pleasantly surprised if it isn't.
Uuh.. why wouldn't be at 60fps on Switch? S&ASRT was 60fps on Wii U if I recall (I do remember being bad at launch and getting a patch later that solved everything), and this game doesn't seem any different in terms of being graphically demanding... Unlike CTR which is being done to run 30fps everywhere, I'd be surprised if this game doesn't achieve 60fps on Switch.

EDIT: oh, nevermind. I did a quick research and apparently S&ASRT was 30fps in every console; it was 60fps only on PC. Regardless, I don't know why they wouldn't have this running 60fps on Switch if Mario Kart 8 can do that; even at 200cc

I'm just gonna say "no." I have no plans to buy it, but I won't rule it out completely. The car customization has me the most interested.

Honestly would people have really wanted this to be an All-Stars Racing game? It's obviously a lower-budget project so the transforming stuff was never coming back, and with only 15 characters and 7 level themes there probably just would have been endless complaining about how many franchises were cut/represented. If they do another ASR I want them to go all out on fanservice.
The thing is, an average customer isn't going to be thinking about what budget went into the game, they're gonna be thinking about what the game will offer them. People are already displeased about the lackluster roster of Sonic characters.

Not interested in this at all, unfortunately. I'm sure it'll be a good game, but it's not at all what I wanted after Transformed. I remember being very disappointed when this was announced (or leaked, if I recall correctly). Forgot about it until this thread.

Definitely hyped for the game! Probably the only game I'll be picking up this month too.

Also, I came to the realization today that there's actually a good reason for why Cream was replaced with Chao and why Charmy and Espio were left out too; this game uses the "Technique" type in place of the "Fly" type, and Cream and Charmy fit the latter but not so much the former. A team of Chao (with Omochao) and Silver make more sense as Technique types. And I guess Espio just didn't have much of a place without Charmy there too. So that probably explains the roster selection, lol. Dunno if this has been pointed out by anyone else yet but it was a big "duh" moment for me once I realized it, having been confused by Cream, Espio, and Charmy's absence initially. =P

Based on the stream, these are the tracks. They're set up in sets:

Planet Wisp
Wisp Circuit
Mother's Canyon
Doctor's Mine

Seaside Hill
Ocean View (ASRT)
Lost Palace (SASASR)
Whale Lagoon (SASASR)

Glacierland
Ice Mountain
Frozen Junkyard
Hidden Volcano

Casino Park
Roulette Road (SASASR)
Bingo Party (SASASR)
Pinball Highway (SASASR)

Sandopolis
Sand Road
Boo's House
Clockwork Pyramid

Rooftop Run
Market Street
Haunted Castle
Sky Road

The final area is Final Fortress. So likely a return of Turbine Loop (SASASR), Dark Arsenal (SASASR) or Egg Hangar (SASASR)

So I'm guessing 12 new tracks, 9 old tracks? Bit less than a Mario Kart. The old tracks definitely get a major visual uplift (OG ASR looks rough by today's standards), but little in terms or remixing or changing the original design, unlike the remakes in Mario Kart. The new tracks definitely are more elaborate and have a lot of stuff going on in the background - Boo's House and Hidden Volcano have a lot of things happened at any time.

I mean I would make the argument that the averge consumer for the most part didn't really care about the other sega frachises for the most part
The average consumer has no goddamn clue who characters like Omega, Zavok or honestly probably more than half of the characters are. A proper ninja or a soldier have more immediate appeal for most people who are not especially invested. It honestly does not even matter who they are even if it sounds like I was suggesting returning characters.

For the absolute most casual players, I think the only human in this game being Robotnik (who barely looks human himself) is going to be a seriously unappealing aspect too.

For the most casual players they know the few sonic characters they do and will play them and characters the think look cool. They problably wont know who omega and zavok is.

But in general due to sega's lack of doing shit with a lot of their franchises, people wouldn't know a lot of sega characters. I don't think this is arguable really. No one gives a shit if its no humans, they bought a sonic game, its sonic the fucking hedgehog. They know what they are getting into generally.

I agree with you. My post is disagreeing with the assumption that people don't want an all-star racer because the budget is low. Like, how would anyone know that without frequenting an enthusiast message board, and why would they care? Enough people will be interested from the jump because Sonic's on the cover.

I get you, they just want a fun racer.
