Experiencing stuttering on this with 2080ti and i9, when playing on the telly. Clock speeds seem fine and reported framerate is solid 60, but sometimes it gets real jittery for a bit. :/
Thanks for replying! What kind of TV is it, any VRR or Hz above 60, any external framerate-lock with tools like RTSS/Afterburner?
Thanks for replying!
I have an LG OLED C8, 55", running at 60hz. I JUST got this computer so I may be missing some obvious setting somewhere, but I have the latest drivers installed, running on windows 10.
I haven't been changing any settings in the NVIDIA control panel, and the only out of the ordinary thing about my setup is that I have a PC monitor (Asus PG279Q ROG Swift) as a primary monitor running GSYNC. I exclusively use the TV when trying to play there, however, so there shouldn't be any interference.
Man the online is so dead. Thyey really need to put a server browser in or something to keep this game alive with the few players it does have.
Not even that, just put me in rooms that have some players even if they're racing and add me to the next race. Every single other racing game works like this.Man the online is so dead. How is the easiest difficulty compared to the easiest on transformed? My kids aren't the best at these games but they enjoy them if they aren't coming in last place every time.
How hards the plat? I've just started chapter 4, I've managed to get all the stars so far but I assume the Daredevil missions especially will do me in eventually, they seem pretty tough assuming they keep getting harder from here!Platinum'd the game yesterday. Think I might've gotten all the legendary parts with all the extra credit I earned from redoing all those races
Yes please. I actually love this game now, I just dislike all the characters :x I'd blindly buy a mystery "Sega character pack".I'm hoping we get some DLC sometime. I wouldn't mind paying for more chars.
So is this better than transformed?
Anything of note missing from its predecessor?
Thank you. There may be some debate, but I personally don't think it's better than Transformed. The raw, core gameplay -- driving physics, handling, etc. is on par with Transformed, but in terms of features and functions it leaves a lot to be desired. A lot of the menus are drab, there's not enough track or racer variety, weapon balance is closer to Mario Kart than it ever has been, etc. It really feels like a budget game (and technically is, at $40).
Sega has also been on record to say they have no DLC plans, if that matters.
There's still fun to be had but you gotta taper your expectations.
AI team mates seem pretty competent from the first three chapters I played. Not sure if it gets worse later in the game though. Only time I can see it being hugely annoying is in GP challenges where you do four races in a row, but so far my AI team mates have been competent so that's a relief!Thank you.
I read that review, I didn't realise this was team focused, like Onrush. I didn't mind Onrush but it sucked hard when the team made you lose the race. Not sure I want another game in that style lol
Strangely, I thought those side missions got a bit easier later on. I think part of it is that the tracks are bigger & are much easier to judge in advance what you should be doing. The casino levels were absolutely frustrating with the daredevil because so many attempts are just memorizing where they're coming up due to how curvy the tracks got.How hards the plat? That's my experience as well. AI did fine 95% of the time through all Story Mode.AI team mates seem pretty competent from the first three chapters I played. Unfortunately they removed Easy mode from the difficulty selector, so it starts at Normal and goes up to Hard and Expert from there
I've found Normal in this game is easier than it was in Transformed. There are still spikes in difficulty, particularly in the side missions in story mode, but overall there are more safety nets thanks to the team mechanics to keep you in the race. I never finished the mission mode in Transformed -- I got up to either the last gate, or next-to-last gate, and no matter how much I gritted my teeth, there were some events I just could not hack to get the last few stars I needed.
By comparison, I finished Team Adventure mode in TSR with nearly double the amount of stars required for all but the final (optional) gate.
It may also depend on the version you're playing. PS4 just got a patch a few days ago that may have actually reduced the difficulty in Team Adventure even more, but as of yet those changes have not been passed on to other versions of the game.
I hope they make some announcement soon. Would help keep interest in the game to play online when that DLC hits. The latest online patch hasn't made that much of a difference, I'm afraid.I'm hoping we get some DLC sometime. I wouldn't mind paying for more chars.

Transformed had DLC characters, some of them exclusive to the PC version (Shenmue's Ryo and the characters from Team Fortress 2).

But I don't think it had additional courses.

No problem! :)
Alright very interesting, can you double-check if Windows is really set to 60hz for your TV? I ask and asked all that before because I had a similar issue with the game where the frame-time and framerate was rock solid smooth but the game felt like it was "vibrating" for the lack of a better word. Upon looking things up I found this out:
so I wasn't going crazy since I have a 144hz monitor and the game "effectively" ran at 144fps, locking it to 60fps fixed it for me. Now I wonder if something similar is happening to you despite the LG being 60hz. Like said check if Windows is set properly to 60hz for the TV, play around with borderless and fullscreen modes, try V-Sync on and off and maybe even try capping the framerate at 59 to see if that helps anyhow.
Are you playing in windowed or borderless mode? I sometimes find games can appear to be juddery here and there in windowed mode, even MSI reports a constant 60fps
Sorry for the late reply. Time zones! :D When you say "capping the framerate", do you mean changing the hz in windows and running with vsync on, or do you mean some other manual way of restricting the framerate?
I am running it in 60hz according to Windows, but I got the TV relatively recently and unlike my previous TV, which was a Panasonic set, there's no indication/info when I change res/update frequency in regards to what the TV is actually running at currently. In fact, I'm surprised that changing resolution doesn't make the TV flash in and out like my old one used to do. Now I can see everything get lower fidelity/blockier immediately when I change resolution, which kinda gives me less of an impression that the TV is changing its output with it, rather than just displaying a lower fidelity image at whatever resolution/refresh it was already doing.
Thank you to you as well for replying. :) I'm playing proper fullscreen so that shouldn't be the issue.
The stutter mainly happens when I come out of drifts with a boost. There's a camera shake effect that probably accentuates it somewhat, but sometimes there is extremely obvious stuttering as well, to the point where it straight up looks like frames are dropped. Only, not according to the GPU tweak OSD.

Yeah same I really hope this is the case.I hope they make some announcement soon. Would help keep interest in the game to play online when that DLC hits. The latest online patch hasn't made that much of a difference, I'm afraid.
Honestly, I'll take the wisps over whatever the fuck transformed's items were lmaoFinally diving in, went with the Switch version. I'm enjoying the core gameplay a ton but man, I should have gotten this on the X. The 30 FPS is killing me.
I do have some minor issues though that extend beyond performance. For one, the team races are far less fun than the classic solo races in my opinion. In a game that's all about team racing, that's a bit odd. I think my biggest issue with team play is that the team ultimate just feels like a win button all the time. Another thing that annoys me a bit are the items, they all feel incredibly weak and unoriginal. Coming off of a few years of MK8, these all feel bland and like Great Value brand Mario Kart power ups.
I haven't dabbled in online play yet though I hear that there are some issues so perhaps I'll hold off. All in all, I'm loving the experience for the most part, I just wish that the Switch version had targeted 60 FPS and that Sumo got a little more creative while polishing the package a bit more.
At least the wisps are actually tied to a Sonic game & aren't just random, generic things.Honestly, I'll take the wisps over whatever the fuck transformed's items were lmao
I was always awful at the plane sequences and the boats were fun but not much to them but turning.I actually prefer the first game but I honestly enjoy this one over transformed.
The plain segments are so annoying... lol I was pretty awful at them too. Just felt like unfinished per se. The boating was better but idk if i need boating.I was always awful at the plane sequences and the boats were fun but not much to them but turning.
They did a pretty poor job of explaining what the point of the plane was. Once you get it and start chaining drifts and risk boosts, it becomes amazingly fun.The plain segments are so annoying... lol I was pretty awful at them too. Just felt like unfinished per se. Excuse me, don't you want to play as these guys? It's funny because I'd rather play as Sonic's characters than whatever excuse for characters the upcoming CTR has, and I loved that game on the PS1.
I guess my opinion is better fit for the controversial opinions thread - but yeah, I also dislike most Crash characters, lol. I like cute and simple designs like Polar or the tiger, though. I see it like this:It's funny because I'd rather play as Sonic's characters than whatever excuse for characters the upcoming CTR has, and I loved that game on the PS1.
I def am terrible at the race ones so Im with you there haha.Everyone here talking about how easy the adventure more is and I'm getting 6th...
Or I'm in first most of the race then everyone else uses their ultimate on the last lap to pass me. :(
I'm actually doing better at the side challenges. Haha.
I've never liked Crash so same lol. It's funny because I'd rather play as Sonic's characters than whatever excuse for characters the upcoming CTR has, and I loved that game on the PS1.
