Nigel Woodall conducts tests in order to gauge the input lag of fighting games and his findings are all sound, to my knowledge.

What's interesting is that Namco has worked to reduce the input lag of the game, especially with the new improvements of the Unreal Engine. This meant that extra work was required in order to make the game compatible to newer versions of the engine, but it seems that it paid off so much that Tekken 7 on PC is now boasting an input lag below Tekken 5 DR, Tekken 6 and Tekken Tag 2 on PS3.

Tekken 7 with V-Sync off is 56.9ms of lag. The PS4 sits at around 75.8ms.

1 frame = 16.66ms in a 60 FPS game. Tekken 7 PC is around 3.5 frames of lag. That's pretty much what Street Fighter 3 Third Strike had on arcade CPS3.

Other games:

- Ultra Street Fighter IV (PS3) : 77.4ms
- Street Fighter V (PC) : 73.9ms
- Street Fighter 3.3 Anniversary (PS4) : 59.3ms
- Blazblue Cross Tag Battle Trial (PS4) : 42.4ms
- DBFZ (PS4) : 75.1ms

Other Tekken games:

- Tekken 5 DR (PS3): 63.0ms
- Tekken 6 (PS3): 65.8ms
- Tekken Tag 2 (PS3) : 94.0ms

Interesting results so far.

So input delay is 3.4 with v-sync off? tournament players wouldn't turn it off tho because it's not like it will be tournament regulations...they have to be keen on what the standard game input response will be. But i guess it would give an edge to online pc players.

Wow, this seems pretty impressive. It's not very common to continually update a released game to utilize new updates of an engine is it? I don't know a ton about game development, but that sounds like it'd be lots of work.

Didn't the PS3 have an infamously low input poll rate which was one of the multiple reasons why the 360 was preferred for fighting games

I don't play much of Tekken but I played 7 on the PS4 and felt sluggish to control.

I don't know if that's how the series is now (That's certainly how 1 was lol) but if the PC version is much more responsive I could see myself buying it, it's a series that I'd like to put some time in at least one entry.

The PS4 version has way lower input lag now as well. Install the newest patch and try it out if you still have the game.
