Get ready for the next battle, for Tekken 8 is upon us.

What is Tekken?
A series of 3D fighting games involving a litany of international martial artists, robots, animals, and literal demons duking it out to become the King of Iron Fist. It is the best-selling 3D fighting game series of all time, returning for its eighth canonical entry where original hero Kazuya Mishima and his son Jin Kazama come to blows once more, the fate of the world hanging in the balance.

In Tekken 7, Kazuya triumphed over his father Heihachi Mishima, the longtime sponsor of the King of Iron Fist Tournaments, and retook control of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Jin Kazama, who plunged the world into war after he took over the Mishima Zaibatsu in a ploy to destroy the family's Devil Gene, awoke from his magically-induced coma shortly thereafter and vowed to take down his father himself. Though it seems this time, Jin is getting a bit more direct help, including from Kazuya's estranged brothers. Also, Jin's long-missing, assumed-dead mother Jun appears to have resurfaced under mysterious circumstances...

Modes - You're Gonna Have a Ball
Tekken 8 boasts a level of single-player content comparable to most prior Tekken titles in quantity if not quality. Among the modes featured are:

Story Mode
The OP said:
The next chapter of the international blood feud continues. Take control of Jin Kazama and other Tekken fighters old and new as Kazuya Mishima wreaks havoc on the world in the hopes of establishing a new order.
Arcade Quest
The Tekken 8 website said:
In the new single-player mode 'Arcade Quest', players can create their own avatar and conquer their rivals in a variety of different arcades. This mode serves as an introduction to the gameplay of TEKKEN 8, allowing players to acquire basic knowledge, learn practical techniques, and enjoy a unique storyline and battles different from regular matches. As the protagonist grows and faces increasingly stronger opponents, so do you!
Tekken Fight Lounge
The Tekken 8 website said:
Enter an immersive lobby where players can interact with one another and access new features and game modes. In the lounge, players can create custom Avatars, communicate with other players via chat and emotes, set up matchmaking, and experience the deep customization and variety of game modes via four distinct areas called Battle Area, Customization Shop, TEKKEN DOJO, and Beach Area.
Super Ghost Battle Mode
The Tekken 8 website said:
In the Tekken Fight Lounge, players can go head-to-head with other players' ghost data; AI-generated NPCs that learn from the player's play data history! Players can play against AI ghosts with real player-like movement that continues to learn players' gameplay characteristics and habits with ease!
Tekken Ball
The Tekken 8 website said:
First appearing in Tekken 3, the beloved minigame is back and better than ever! In Tekken Ball, epic battles are "fought" on a beach volleyball court!
Customization Mode
The Tekken 8 website said:
The most in-depth customization in the Tekken series to date. Customize in granular detail fighters, online avatars, UI elements, and also background music.
My Replays & Tips
The Tekken 8 website said:
A very exciting mode for players that want to perfect their skills. Watch a replay of a match, and the game's AI will stop the replay at certain points to review your mistakes, tell you what the optimal action was, and let you practice it on the spot!

Gameplay Mechanics
The new marquee gameplay feature of Tekken 8 is the Heat System, a mechanic designed to allow players to harness their character's rage and weaponize it. Rage Arts also return from Tekken 6. Stages feature a greater number of destructible elements, perhaps taking cues from Tekken's longtime rival Dead or Alive.

Please see the video below for more explanation of the gameplay.

Meet the Royal Fools of Iron Fist
Tekken 8 will launch with 32 characters and be bolstered with downloadable content. Its first and so far only season will consist of four characters, the first of which was revealed to be Tekken 3's Eddy Gordo. Click the character's name to get their official bio.

-The Era Tekken Discord server New link

Also, I'm linking to a thread that's been discussing the accessibility options touted by the game and some of the outright dangerous drawbacks of their pending implementation. Be warned, those with photosensitivity should take caution:
www.resetera.com

Bandai Namco adds Tekken 8 visual accessibility options, but they might be a problem for those who are photosensitive

https://x.com/ianhamilton_/status/1740119426975027430?s=46&t=2x5-kp_N8ple_n4_xLtYZAhttps://twitter.com/JamesBergCanada/status/1740114330866385289 I figured this would be worth highlighting. But this might end up being another Splattercolor Screen situation with the striped filter specifically...

It's been a long 16 or so months since this game's reveal at a Sony State of Play, but the wait is coming to an end. Please be courteous when discussing this game and make sure to bother people more educated than I in the intricacies of actual gameplay. I just make the funny redesign threads. I also made the second roster discussion thread which I'll probably be updating concurrently for a time.

Here to watch my boy Jin finally put an end to all the chaos (that he contributed to) before ushering in the era of Reina.

Never bought a Tekken game at launch before, but after Street Fighter 6 got its hooks in me early in, I'm ready to try something different. The trailers for this game have been bonkers and the presentation is immaculate. I can't wait to get stuck in!

Day off as it's my birthday, deluxe pre-ordered for the year 1 season pass, new arcade stick for PC shenanigans is already here.

Should be all set, although I've had a decent amount of playtime from the demo alone!

$70 price tag means it won't be day 1 for me, not enthused about year 1 if the S1 pass leak is true, but at least one character I actually play returning (which is still one more than SF6 could be bothered to give me) means that I'll get around to it eventually.

I wonder what (if any) special unlockables Harada and Tekken Team have for us to obtain besides costume pieces. Feels like it's been a good awhile since we've had any decent true unlocks in a Tekken game.

Azucena made me jump into Tekken 8.

I dabble in some Tekken back in the days with Eddy Gordo at the arcade, but I never bought the games.

I had to catch up with all the lore the past 2 weeks.
I recommend this video to everyone.

The Insane Lore of Tekken (2022)

Who on Earth would play fighting games for the story? ...............I would. I love digging into this stuff and one franchise might be the craziest of all. ...

The Tekken lore is beyond hilarious;yet, tragic.

Question:
Does anyone know if crossplay as voice chat? Not sure if this was answered.

Silly question (probably) but was that rumored Tekken Force mode fake? Looked like Tekken mixed with musou, but Ive never seen a follow up or official confirmation on it. Unless its part of the story mode...

Either way, Story, the arcade story modes look great so Ill get the game eventually, when I have the time to sit down and play it, seems like the best the Tekken series has been in a while for me personally.

I am so damn excited. I'll likely have to wait for my collector's edition and I'm doing an Escape Room for my son's bday on Friday so it works out.

I'll read the OT proper at break but nice work at a glance! 😁

Ayyyy we made it! Can't believe we're finally getting a Tekken game that has Jun returning canonically. I've been asking for that to happen for over two decades. Fuuuuuck. We'll see how it plays out in the story, but either way hopefully we'll get some answers on her long absence.

Online is going to be an endless sea of Reinas isn't it? Works for me. >:D

I'd like to think that they have been keeping so much under wraps (even Reina's role) so yeah, hopefully we're in store for some meaty stuff.

I've also wondered if they keep suggesting to play story mode first so that we can perhaps unlock story related skins?! Stages?

What do you mean?

Ooooh, maybe?! Guess I'll tackle that mode first and find out. lol

_____

Also just a reminder people that they brought back the jukebox from TTT2. First song I'm changing is the character select.

For some reason I'm not as hype for this as I feel I should be. I think because Yakuza comes out the same day and FFVII like 2 weeks later. Q1 is brutal.

Guess I'll be dealing with the Reina's online for a while. The power of Paul will compel them into a SHOULDER SMASH!
