So was this topic an insider who was giving a hint in plain sight? Cause that's amazing.

Remember that versus Tetris game, Tetris Battle?

Now, hear me out. What if, instead of 1 on 1, you instead fight against 99 opponents? What if, you have a limited pool of blocks, and you have to fight over the blocks to get what you need? Then, then, then, a line encroaches from the top of the screen at set intervals every few minutes, limiting the play area as time progresses? This could truly be revolutionary and alter the landscape of competitive Tetris forever!

Lol, what other genre would be turned into Battle Royale next? Chess? Football?

OP has inspired me to make a crazy-ass statement in this thread in the hopes of bumping it in 3 months to show off my genius.

We haven't seen the new Animal Crossing game yet because the new Animal Crossing game is actually the new Pokemon game. You catch Pokemon to live in your neighborhood with you. Tom Nook is replaced by a Bidoof. Tortimer? More like Torterra! Book this post I'm totally getting my tag.

I remember laughing when reading this thread thinking it was a bit of a stretch. Reading this thread on the front page made me choke on my coffee.

I kinda see where OP is coming from, but at the same time can I get some of whatever they're on?

If not drug-fueled, it's some sort of maniacal ideation. I know, as I've come up with similarly crazy leaps between concepts myself at times.

They thought I was crazy for saying battle royale was an FPS roguelite.

OP, This is hard to swallow.

But I approve!

Nah I agree in theory. Battle Royale games share some key conceptual DNA with roguelike/roguelite games.

Certainly more than Tetris to BRs.

Also holy shit I just realized the date on the OP. Dude is either the next Nodstadamus or had insider info. Maybe OP inspired the release today? LMAO.

Could always be the broken clock kinda thing.

Chess is already a battle royale, you eliminate the pieces one by one, until you eliminate the king.

The king is the stand-in for the player, you can eliminate him early and finish the game, so can you if you were eliminated early at the start of a session of a battle royale game, the game ends for you.

I damn near typed Nintendo needs to shadow drop a br game in the direct hype thread but I chickened out and half assed it.

Turns out Tetris is an easy way of doing it.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for a Super Smash Bros. Battle Royale.

My idea is that it wouldn't so much be 100 players on one stage to see who the last player standing would be, but instead have 100 people put into a server with a sort of real-time single elimination tournament set up. The twist is that you'd be randomly matched in everything from a 1 v 1 to a 1 v 1 v 1 v 1. Once someone eliminates their opponent, they are immediately matched up with the first person or people to have eliminated their opponent around the same time. If you don't get another match up within a set time limit, you get a chance to "3rd party" an ongoing match. A potential way it could work is that if a match starts taking too long for someone to be eliminated, your match will be put into pool of matches that are vulnerable to get matched with a player who gets a chance to 3rd party. It would alert the players of that chance to try to get them to wrap it up soon or risk being 3rd partied. You wouldn't know if a person joined the match as a 3rd party but they'd get a special item, such as the Dragoon item

and the 3rd partier would get a chance at a free shot on a player to potentially KO them. The game would alert the people in the match that it was happening and would have a similar animation as in the normal game when someone completes it. At that point, they briefly have a chance to dodge the attack and then the person enters the match with whoever may be left. At that point the "3rd party timer" resets so the people can duke it out and if it takes too long, once again, there would be the potential for more players to enter the match.

Or they could just make it something like 100-Man Melee.

Hahaha this is awesome.

I love the complete contrast on the first page where everyone is bagging on the OP, to now, where everyone is giving him kudos.

Well played.

Tetris was also the first foray into gaming pornography.
I mean, just look at that L piece.
