I find weird that Black Panther is nominated as best drama movie and has only music nominations besides that one

Honestly. Some solid noms there. Green Book, A Star is Born and Vice are the big movies going into awards season right now.

No Cold War in foreign kind is sucks though.

Love The Good Place love even if no Danson nom.

While it's nice to see Black Panther on here, I'm a bit surprised that Michael B. Jordan didn't get a nomination (I'm not hating on the nominated actors at all, far from it).

Either way, I still need to see If Beale Street Could Talk......I need to get on that.

Mary Poppins doesn't even have reviews yet. Are they trying to turn this into the MTV movie awards?

Also Patrick Melrose should have gotten nominated but at least Cumberbatch is there (to lose).

In the Drama category ?

It's a nice flick but i fail to see it worthy of best drama.

"Cold War" didn't even get a nomination for best foreign language film. Ok, lol.

How the fuck isn't Eliza Scanlen nominated? Her performance was even better than Amy Adams in Sharp Objects.

The film list seems kinda weak, but I haven't watched all of them. I didn't like Black Panther all that much to be honest, but I'm not a fan of super hero movies. Happy that Elsie Fisher got a nomination for Eighth Grade, she was just perfect for the role.

Also weird they chose to nominate Roma under foreign film and not simply best picture drama despite nominating it for director and screenplay. Foreign film category has always been a bit weird I guess.

I can see "A Star is Born" sweeping.

Also lol at Bohemian Rhapsody.

Also good job at Mirai getting some recognition.

The Globes going back to complete star-fucker mood is exciting (Bohemian Rhapsody is their lowest MC scoring BP nominee ever, I think - lol - because at least most of those performances are good even if bizarre). Hoping that Lady Gaga wins both of her Globes and ASIB wins Picture - Drama.

Super happy about Crazy Rich Asians getting a nomination in Best Comedy. And also really thrilled about Black Panther in Best Drama, Soundtrack and Music.

Still scratching my head at the lack of Helena Howard nominations for her performance in Madeline's Madeline.

Oh yeah, I agree with the weird picks for nominees. Where's First Reformed even.

"...the HFPA rules stipulate that films entered in its foreign-language category are not eligible for consideration in either the best motion picture-drama or best motion picture-musical or comedy categories, which, its rules state, "are exclusively for English-language motion pictures." Foreign-language films are, however, eligible to compete in other categories like directing, acting, writing and score. "

Yeah some iffy choices in most of the movie categories. Like, are those really the best five dramas all year? Of every movie released in the US? You're sure?

Nothing at all for First Reformed either and that film has been topping several critic best of the year lists.

Really cool nomination for Black Panther. A Star Is Born will win, but maybe it will pushing Disney to make its blockbusters even further away from the caravan of hot garbage that used to rule the box office like the Transformers movies. The interplay between characters in that movie was more interesting than nonstop explosions and people screaming at each other as comedy.

How the fuck did Bohemian Rhapsody make it in there? It's a cookie cutter biopic with someone occasionally putting on music from a Spotify playlist.
