Hi all,

Ads are how we're able to keep the lights on here at ResetEra and we've made it our mission to provide you with a pleasant browsing experience by partnering with agencies that focus on delivering good ads. The unfortunate reality of the online ad industry however is that it's really a technological arms race against unscrupulous advertisers, and sometimes those bad, unsavory ads get through. We're not a fan of those types of ads and we know you aren't either.

Please use this thread to report bad ads (e.g. full-screen takeovers, pop-ups, redirects, etc.). We make it a high priority to ensure that intrusive ads don't show up on the site and to get them removed as quickly as possible so that you can keep having a great experience.

Use the following template to report an ad:

Screenshots and any other information you can offer will also help track these down.

I have had to turn on tracking protection on Firefox as I have now three times been re-directed via ads here.

It goes from dynamic2pixel.com then to a server2.flowerpuffgirls.info then to orgeles-hantests.com and then ends at a dethatch.us

I didn't click on anything but not to plussed on those. I don't mind pop ups or annoying ads and would like to support, but redirects to potentially malicious sites are concerning.

Express really must have brought out the money hat for that ad to still be up. It's becoming more frequent, and now it's freezing my browser completely. If you're not going to remove it because of complaints Cerium can you at least tell us when the contract for that ad is up, so we'll know when it's safe to use mobile again?

Update on the GDPR Ad pop-up you may have seen:

I will clarify some things.

This got dropped on us with no notice by our ad provider. It is a test according to them, but suffice to say we're not happy at all with how this was dropped on us. We're pissed at their poor implementation and we're talking to them to either have them fix it ASAP or turn it off until they do.

This site is supported by ads so turning ads off in the meantime unfortunately isn't an option. Servers and bandwidth are expensive for a site as large as ours. We have Era Clear for those who wish to support us in other ways but that's not enough to keep the site running at it's current scale.

TLDR; We're working with our ad provider to get this fixed. Please be patient while the wheels turn.

I know this is extremely unlikely, but would a change in ad provider ever be a possible option? My opinions of the one you are using are hardly high right now.

Again, it's in breach of EU law and keeping it up isn't an option. If you found out a glitch in forum software allowed access to user passwords would you also keep it up until you found an alternative? You've just compounded an implementation of data collection that goes out of its way to break GDPR by admitting you're aware of it but won't halt it because it'll negatively impact revenue.

Also why is it so important that any discussion of the site be immediately locked down and snuffed out no matter how harmless it is? Is this the new transparency you advertised?
