I first noticed this trend after reading Design literacy : understanding graphic design by Steven Heller. There's a chapter about the Cooper Black font. Once I finished reading it, I did a quick image search on Google and found a few of those Garfield comic covers as I kept scrolling down.

That's when I realized this typeface is used pretty much everywhere and has been for many decades. From album covers to film posters, no media is safe from Cooper Black!

Even to this day, the font is put on YouTube thumbnails and such. Plus I can hardly go out without noticing its existence on store banners.

Maybe it really goes well with almost everything? Anyway, I'm always like "oh, there's Cooper Black again" whenever I see it.
