The enemy here flanks you all of the time, even on normal. You die in seconds if you're caught out of cover, and the enemy will constantly throw skills at you to force you out of cover, or get past you to shoot you in your flanks. Also the enemy will actually take cover, which is something that Anthem's enemy does not.

That deep THUNK in distance is sound of "Time to GTFO from this general area". I like how AI even for normal thugs does it best to swarm and overpower your positions, that end game mission just put it to another level when those soldiers were able to eat more lead.

I was baffled that the "end game" was just running through the same mission with different enemies? lol

Game feels great to play especially on pc and ran well for me. It just feels too Ubi for me. Characters do not seem very memorable and the hud and UI are just so damn busy with techy nonsense which has been a big issue for me in past ubisoft games.

Yeah I haven't played the first Division since the first month it came out but wanted to go back traded in the disc. Now with the psn sale I picked it up and the season pass and preordered D2 as well. Liked the beta but ended up going back to 1 since I didn't finish the campaign.

For anyone who didn't know how to get signature ammo for your specialist:

I was just lucky as I was the sharpshooter and kept getting headshots with my primary so never found it a problem getting ammo but didn't know this was the reason why.

A lot of the complaints I see in here are the same complaints levied at the foundation of Anthem (and by extension, the loot genre as a whole). I wonder if Era, as a community, just generally doesn't like these types of games; or, perhaps, I'm the odd one finding the loop enjoyable

Edit: anyway, decided I'm day 1 for this and anthem. Can't be burned by a looter if you're juggling 2!

I just love the varied environments. There is not alot of copy/paste going on making each area so unique....even the building interiors.
This stuck out to me too... In Div 1, you could tell there was a lot of copy/paste in areas. Everything in The Division 2 feels a lot more uniquely placed.

Really thinking about getting the game but Sekiro is a week later and that's a day one for me.
Nothing wrong with supporting and enjoy both, that is my plan.

I really hope they bring back Hunters to TD2, scary fuckers that one shot you in close combat.
Hunters have been spotted in PVE and Dark Zone videos and screenshots... Massive has also commented on their return.

...This just feels too much of the same thing with no real major changes other than to the environment which I am not enjoying as much and doesn't feel as dense as NYC.
Complete opposite of how I feel, DC is 5x as dense as NYC.... So much more to do, collect, and a LOT more interiors and unique locations.

Haven't got to try any endgame stuff, is it good?
Wasn't much different than the regular missions.
I was baffled that the "end game" was just running through the same mission with different enemies? lol

Keep in mind, that this is only a "Dungeon" in The Division 2... The 8 man raid is the real endgame.

Also, there will be a 3rd difficulty for these.

As a huge fan of the first, I'm absolutely loving this.

Controls seem much tighter, enemies seem much smarter, and the whole world seems more detailed and loaded with more loot to discover.

The local has really grown on me too. Div 1 was iconic with the swirling snow and gorgeous lighting effects at night, but this one seems more varied, with more distinct levels & kinds of destruction mixed with the overgrowth, swamps and fields. And at night it still creates that high-contrast volumetric lighting look. It's still a visually stunning game.

Between Apex Legends matches, I really wanted something more grounded, grind-y and exploratory, and this scratches that itch perfectly.

I'm in.

Nice, they're the best enemy in the game, the most interesting enemies as well. Would love to get some more backstory about them, and I'm hoping they expand on the original story with Aaron Keener and so on.

Other things I really want is Survival and possibly something similar to The Underground. Can't wait to get stuck in to TD2.

To be honest the end game of TD1 was really bad and boring, but after they introduced better options for end game after a while. After 1.8 there was a lot of options to what you wanted to do. Hopefully something like that is implemented at launch for this, since running the same missions on hard gets really boring after a while. Hopefully it's nothing they will patch in later, and I hope and think the DZ will be a good option for end game loot and challenges.

Was able to play and beat on Normal the high level mission. Was a lot of fun. However....

I really wish and I know it would be a lot of extra work, but it would be really nice when you are in the end game and you can re-play these missions with the new enemies that they would modify the missions so they are not exactly the same that we played at lower levels. I am not saying totally new missions, but just make them a bit longer, with some new rooms, floors (when in buildings) just something to make them a little different. I know it is asking a lot, but I think for those of use that work our way to that point it would be a nice thing to have some stuff added to the environments etc.

I am done with the beta, put in 12 1/2 hours with my character and an additional hour or so with the specialty characters. Definite buy on my end.

To their credit, they've at least replaced the normal street gangs with hi tech military guys that have some different abilities... which is more than what you usually see in these types of games.

After trying the endgame mission one more time with a party of four, I think I've nailed down my issue with how the game feels at that point:

The signature weapon requirements are stupid for the demolitionist and I will probably say the same for the survivalist when I try it out: needing to get kills under specific conditions that requires some cooperation from both how the AI move (so they're caught within in your abilities and/or grenades) and if you're in a group (AFAICT), hoping you get the final blow with it instead of someone else is incredibly dumb and is probably significantly lowering my actual damage output below what is expected for the mission.

Like I have no idea why it couldn't just work like either heavy ammo in destiny, or if the idea is that they're supposed to be ultimate lites in weapon form, maybe just make it drop signature ammo guaranteed after a sufficient enough performance has passed by you or your group, and I would probably have been enjoying the mission a lot more if I could reliably pull out the grenade launcher during the major enemy sections.

Oh well, another bug at the end of the "rescue community members" mission. Impossible to talk to the last ones (who disappeared after lol) so impossible to collect the reward.

Let's hope their build is much more solid at launch.

I completely agree, so far the specialization system is the thing I'm leaving this beta with the most concerns about.

Bolded bit, which is in a way funny as Washington is so much more densely packed with content to do and stuff to find than NYC. I don't remember finding this much loot containers, collectibles, fights, events etc. to clear within similar sized area in Division 1. Felt good to just wander around and explore as you got constantly new gear, materials etc. for it.
I was just about to say the same thing. There are objectively more things to do in the open world of TD2 vs the first game.

Agreed. The most favorable fix would to have the specialization weapons have a cooldown. For example, you have a 3-5 minute cooldown depending on your skill power and you have 15 seconds to use the predetermined amount of rounds before the the cooldown starts again. That way, you wont have to depend on rng special weapon drops.

Leaving the beta with all the missions done, so I should get my skin and arm patch.

I'm pretty excited again, though my first day had me worried as I wasn't have a good first impression. But when I started to unlock the settlement, started doing projects, taking over control points, and feeling that slow but steady loot progression, I was hooked again.

The game is definitely gonna launch in a better spot then Div1, though they really needed a voice actor for the player.

The weather system is amazing once you see how it progresses and such, thunderstorms especially sound really good.

Enemy AI is alot better this time around. Firefights definitely have a more tactical feel to them.

Animations are piss poor for a ubi game. Like I'm really surprised on how rough the running and falling animations look. Falling is especially silly.

The endgame mission was fun, but TTK was way to high for my liking, but I assume with the full game having my own progression is gonna help with that. Definitely not a fan of the specializations so far, they just sorta feel out of place imo. I do think they might need to rework the ammo part at least, maybe give a bare minimum with restocking.

My ultimate edition is preordered, guess I should go back to 1 and grind out the patches.

I definitely enjoyed this beta a lot and it solidifies any doubts I may have had about getting a good sequel. Now the question is Anthem, in light of its poor technical performance and mixed reception within my group of gamers. I'm not sure I'll get a good amount of gaming out of 3 weeks of it. Especially considering DMC5 and Sekiro are in March, I don't know about Anthem getting a lot of playtime. Maybe I'll get a physical copy and trade it in when something better comes out.

They should've just kept the ultimate skills but change them up, and have the special weapons end game weapons, and have varieties of them. Also don't like how's there only 3 where you can have squads of 4.

Also I hope they bring back underground and survival, that's a lot of cut end game content from the first game

You only thing you need to do to unlock skins is to finish the repel tusks mission right? Nothing else?

Because it is very hard. in fact exteremly hard. The only way to finish it is in a 4 payer squad.

I enjoyed the first game quite a bit, although it didn't have too long of a lasting appeal for me as it has for some people.

This beta was fun, but it just feels more of the same. I feel like this should be an expansion rather than a full new game.

Between this and Anthem, I have some thinking to do on which game I'll end up buying. I think this game will have a much better launch and it seems like it's going to have plenty of content and good changes from the first game. But Anthem feels more fresh to play due to the flying, javelins, and graphics.

Maybe I'll just get both.... lol

Am I able to matchmake side missions? I'd like to, but i'm not seeing any options to do so before the mission starts when I show up to the starting location.

I don't like this, at least at the moment, because it's really difficult to get ammo for the crossbow due to this specific requirement, making Survivalist a less desirable class to pick.

I would rather they drop occasionally from the enemies regardless of how you kill them, to balance things out.

Also, anyone think that the skills lack audio-visual flair that give them a kick or an oomph-like feeling?

Comparing Division 1's Airburst vs Division 2's, for example, the first one is a spectacle while the latter is more of a whimper and pffffffffffffftttt.

The AI for hyenas is dumb but for the Tusks it is beyond real humans. If the whole endgame is liek that then it will be unplayable.

I like everything going on here but specializations are a downgrade for sure. I actually would have preferred no "supers" of any kind have the specializations be a strong passive or modifier for existing skills that's persistent

It's doable solo, but sometimes the game bugs out and either puts you on hard instead of normal or thinks you're in a party. I realised that today when I loaded it up and the second combat area had two elite heavies.

Enjoyed my time with it, but I did end up putting over 500 hours in the first one, so odds were I was going to like it.

After finishing the missions, I must have spent 5 hours just running around the city trying to find every open building, sewer and alleyway. I'm a real sucker for that. Didn't experience any big bugs, just some frozen npc's a couple of times.

I can already tell I'm going to spend a ton of time on this game.

Ran smooth at 1440p with my 7700k and gtx 1080ti (gsync does wonders)

I think they the game ultra bugged for me and put in nightmare difficulty with 2 elite heavies + some walking quadruped robots and "Short Circuit" ones too.

We completed the endgame mission on normal in a 3 man group.....died maybe 3 or 4 times. It's definitely playable in a group, but I would not like it try it solo

Exactly. They completely overwhelmed me in Solo even in Duo. A full squad was the only way.
