Of course... I was overlooking dmg mods as I'm currently keeping my reds low due to SG.

I did just manage to get my dps up to 1.2 mill with a little optimization as I found a new piece, which I think is good for a more defensive build....

I'll focus on a damage one next with your advice, thanks!

Right now I'm running a Patience build, but because I've always had way too many reds on my build, I've never been able to run Safeguard. Even at about 210k armor, I find I'm sturdy enough to run most content at Hard no problem. Challenging gets a little difficult (mostly I've run control points at level 3 so I'm not sure how bad it is in actual missions).

This is with me not really seeking out specific red attributes, so I don't have a bunch of Weapon Damage or weapon class bonuses attached. So I think I'd be able to get through Challenging content a little better if I farm/recal for those attributes, but I'm still at 482 so I have a ways to go.

Patience I think is damned near mandatory, but honestly I wouldn't call Safeguard vital, more of a nice to have. Patience plus a big enough armor pool is enough to actively tank a lot of damage--fire, for example, is way more annoying because you can't ADS; the damage it inflicts is easy to outheal. You're only in trouble if you're out in the open or if you're being focused and flanked by multiple enemies.

I play solo on challenge pretty much exclusively atm, so SG is a huge bonus for me. I think DPS mitigating dmg might be more effective though, but SG is really nice for lazily farming challenge missions.

For group play or lower than Challenge I would run a pure DPS or more of a support build. I need to start making the latter too...

Unless it was changed in a recent patch, Generic mods are only obtainable during the Teen levels. Which means playing an alt accounts until you get enough of them to drop then putting them in your stash for your main.

It's a bit of an effort but if you're willing to do it, you get the pay off. Unless Massive makes changes.

So my friend just started playing. He is like level 3.....I am 22. What is the best way for me to play along with him in a group? Also, do I need to wait for him to level up more or anything?

If you two play together it will scale him up to around your level, he will still die pretty easily but he can do missions and stuff with you and he'll level up much faster because he'll be getting more XP from kills and such.

Yooooo I was exploring the sewers and I ran into one of those big guys that usually carries a sledgehammer and this guy had a chainsaw. It was pretty cool.

Just make sure those are generic mods and not offensive mods. Only generic mods take the color of the slot even tho they have offensive attributes on them.

I'm on WT2 now and I thought I had to complete all those marked "Main Mission" before being able to advance to WT2 so I did them all, unlocking all the strongholds. Beat one and then, to my surprise, I was in WT2.

Now, do I just go around farming control points, etc to gear up and take on the next stronghold? Or should I mess around in the DZ since I have barely touched it

When should I start to worry about recalibration?

As soon you got enough gear with compatible categories of talents that you wanna replace.

Like say you have a mask with high DtE roll but the passive talent is not Hard Hitting, you could recalibrate one of the other masks that has HH to replace

What day is reset day? I'm wondering how much time I have to do two more invaded missions and the stronghold for this week's sniper piece

Thursday is the reset day

Is anyone experiencing this? I can't upgrade my Crafting Bench...i'm stuck on blue tiered stuff and I'm at endgame. I heard it was a bug or something so I stopped playing for a bit, then logged in yesterday and seen the game installed a patch. Get to my bench, STILL can't upgrade. What the fuck, dawg?

Does it need an actual blueprint like the weapons/mods that I seem to be missing or what??

Nah, will get fixed after tomorrow's maintenance.

My game keeps getting stuck coming out of character selection, staring at a half rendered building. I can quit and start back up but it throws me right into a mission. Is there a cutscene or anything I'm missing? Plus the game keeps kicking me out in the middle of said mission. Weird stuff.

Sorry if this has been asked:

I am trying to make a build to focus on solo PvE. I want to (try) to solo farm challenge missions and farm the Merciless Rifle.

What is a good high DPS build? I was hoping for something with SMG + Shotgun, or Assault Rifle + SMG. I assume that +Armour is important for survivability, but is +Health worth it?

Is the Liberty worth dismantling and upgrading the chatterbox to 500?

I kind of like that the turnover of loot has slowed down for me and I can focus on fine-tuning now.
It isn't pointless only if you care about the number beside your agent. Items in the 450-490 level will not necessarily be 100% optimal on stat rolls, but neither will 500 drops. There are overlaps in stats on sub 500 drops and 500 drops. It is possible, and often probable, that at least for now, stuff that is lower gear score is actually better. I expect this will change down the road (Division, the first game, made this change based on feedback, and I was surprised it wasn't in at launch - so that a higher gear score item always rolls better stats than one under it).

I mean, crafting takes a lot of resources and there are a lot of variables meaning there's a good chance you won't get what you want...but the gear score number itself doesn't make it pointless.

I feel like that's only true up to a point. A 460 item is just not going to outpace a 500 item from what I have seen (could be wrong). I don't know how the level of the crafted item is decided but it it's truly random then you could wind up with even a 450 item.

I would probably give it a go more if it was guaranteed to be in the higher range but I tried it recently and it spat out a a 450 item while I was around 480+.

I don't know about a specific build but some key points I think would be:

Survivability
Talents: Patience - crucial talent for armour regen (seriously, this is a game changer). I also use Efficient which is great and underrated. There are others like Safeguard that people use as well so see which is best for you.

-attributes for bonus armour

Damage
-Pick the specialisation that gives a buff for the weapon you want. AR is survivalist. Other two are demo I think but not sure so check. Unlock the +15% from there.

-Damage talents depend on your playstyle really. There's Unstoppable Force, Ranged, Compensated etc etc. See which ones suit you.

-Attributes that + weapon damage, + AR damage, +LMG damage, + damage to elites, + headshot damage etc, maybe crit if you want to go for that. Again, this depends on your playstyle and what you can find.

-Gear brands that boost damage for weapon types. For one piece you get +10%. There's one for AR, LMG and must be one for SMG too.

In my experience health is not a useful as armour but maybe that's just me. I'm sure others could chime in with further info. This is also assuming you want to go down the red route but I guess you could do skill build if you wanted.

The resource progress for the projects is really (visually)bugged for me. It always shows 0/50, even if I have already donated some stuff. It unlocks correctly tho.

I would highly recommend an armour regen build for solo challenge runs.

I would also recommend Reviver Hive as a free life if you go down (just bear in mind, if you get downed while surrounded you will be killed before the revive deploys).

Remember: When the revive deploys, you will be invincible for a few seconds IF you stand still. This means you can look around/reload and choose your next move. As soon as you move, you l become vulnerable again.

I run most challenge missions in 10-15 minutes with this, a more DPS focused build without the reliance on Safguard would be faster but also more risky.
-

My challenge solo build is:

Safeguard on the backpack
Patience on the knee pads
Unstoppablee Force on the chest

Then as much Damage to Elites (DTE) as I can.

Safeguard will only let you run 5 damage (red) attributes, so you need to pick then well. I have as much weapon damage and headshot damage as I can get.

Look for pieces with damage for your weapon type.

Look for brand bonuses that compliment like bonus armour for UF and any dmg buffs you can find.

You make up for the lack of red with:

The brand bonuses.
The DTE and other dmg talents.
The armour you stack to activate Unstoppable Force (you need 7 defense (blue) attributes.

Here are my talents:

zOFXv21.png

2dcsaL1.png

You do not need to run the specialization that matches your weapons exactly. I personally take Sharpshooter which has no dmg buffs specifically for AR and Sniper which I run with, but it has:

Universal HS damage
Universal reload speed
Universal stability

Stats wise I have:

u400stg.png

jQWNclf.png

xXz5XzU.png

nJeWuBp.png

Versus elites, if I headshot, I get 1.2 mill DPS on my AR
(Optimist + Allegro)

1 mill headshot dmg with my M700
(Naked + Jazz Hands)

Elites melt super fast.

Red bars and Veterans melt with headshots.

Skills:

I take Reviver Hive as mentioned and Oxi Chem Launcher.
I run 800 SP so I can take two lower GS gear skill mods tht give +2 ammo overall to my Chem launcher.

Oxi for flushing out targets while solo is very good to keep your pace. It is also very good for finishing off enemies in cover and moving on to a new target.

Why a build like this?

The higher armour and armour regen will be a good way to learn to solo challenge quickly.

Once you have Challenge mode down in terms of understanding how to manage it, then you could think of a higher DPs build imo. But, for now, an armour regen build can give more than enough DPS output AND survivability.

I need to activate Optimist on my LMG but I love my reds too much. That's my next goal/challenge. Finally got Ranged on my sniper though so that's great.

Is there a bug with the revive hive? I swear it doesn't auto deploy when I am down sometimes.

astro
See the patch notes :p

There are multiple little bugs apparently, and they just squashed one so it should be more reliable. I run a tonne of solo daily, and the revive goes off almost always. If you've been having more frequent, hopefully this patch will help.

I think enemies can shoot it if you're under heavy fire, which can lead to no revive, but I'm not certain. If you're going down while under heavy fire from a group, perhaps this is the reason.

Seeing a decent performance boost from the latest patch as I was averaging 55 FPS through the in-game Benchmark, I'm now at exactly 60 FPS.

You can do both of those things, you can also matchmake for random story missions and bounties in the Matchmake tab of the map screen. (Open the map and hit R1 until you are at the matchmake screen.)

Doing missions randomly and bounties i was able to gear up very very fast and move on to the next Stronghold. Because I cleared all the missions just like you did haha.

Awesome thank you! I've only been playing solo this whole time thus the apprehension to go into the DZ. On WT3 now and just gearing up to take on the next stronghold.

I know this was probably repeated ad nauseam, but the skill mod system is so bad at endgame. It shouldn't be the case that I should have kept sub-level 30 mods that are superior to WT5 mod drops. Needs a complete rework, IMO. I'm in the camp that thinks skill mods should have been blueprints and permanent unlocks, just like weapon mods. On top of that, the skill power requirements are just bonkers, and the trade-offs to be able to use a skill mod are never worth it.

I believe they have said they are working on a fix for Skill Power builds because it is VERY underwhelming and confusing at this time.

You are completely right though in its current form I basically ignore Skill Power. The rewards for having it are usually just not worth the loss of other stats that let you kill enemies much faster.

If you're lucky enough to find some lower SP mods that can be added with SP from a single piece of gear, they can be very worth taking. A few builds ITT highlight this.

In general, though, the system could probably use a complete overhaul.

Delightful bug I encountered whilst doing a stronghold. Enemies fucking turning invisible and only way to kill them were with homing mines!

Oh man we were 30 min deep into a Challenge mission and we had the last guy stuck in the wall.
All of us dying didn't reset it either.
Managed to get him spamming Chem, arrows, and nades -.-
the fire ended up killing him

Revive Hive still bugged...

https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision/comments/bdn6jp/the_division_2_update_21_feedback_bug_report/

After the last patch sometimes you get downed, the hive is reviving you and the game ignores that and respawn you. It happens solo and in group if everyone else are dead. It's not new but it's not fixed
On challenging/heroic if you get downed by an elite black tusk doggo you can't move at all after revived (doesnt matter if a player or a hive revives you). Same happens on jefferson plaza if the boss locks you on foam, reviving or respawning and you're stuck. Only way to get unstuck is relogin. That's very annoying for solo players, you respawn and yay must restart the mission. Alt +f4, opens youtube.
My revive hive doesn't seem to work at all now.
  • Type of Bug: Movement issue
  • Description: Upon being revived (both by hives and other players) occasionally my character is unable to move from the position he's in. I'm able to run in place, roll and often even attach to cover, but all WSAD input seems to be locked. This has happened to me personally and have seen people in my group 'locked' the same way. Fast traveling back to my teammate, I was still unable to move. Only after Ctrl+Alt+Del and then a full restart of the game was I able to move around as normal again.
  • Video / Screenshot: None yet as I don't record but will update this if it happens again.
  • Steps to reproduce: Hard to say. Revival while on a staircase solo caused it, but happened multiple times on flat ground. Not sure what variables seem to cause it, though I think the Revive Hive might be involved as the people I've seen get this lock-up also used it.

How does it work anyways? I shoot the oxidizer and the elites just run out of the cloud. It doesnt look like it does any damage.
You need to time it.

Like, an elite machine gunner is starting its prone animation, fire it and it will take a lot of damage as it lies down, pause for a second, then stands up again to move.

Or suppress with an LMG then fire to force them to sit in the cloud.

Or use it to finish off enemies who turtle with a little bit of health left and move on to a new target while it kills them

Or use it like this to flush them from cover:
aAxPPLm.gif

Also, when you add + ammo to it via skill mods, you can fire multiple at once, so you can shoot one either side of an ememy's position, or predict where they're running to and fire it in front of them so they have to run through the clouds, or fire it directly AT a target to hit them and then stagger them with sustained headshots so they stand in it, etc...

I must be super lucky, because I only get this bug one in every 10 missions or so... and sometimes I'm not sure if I didn't see if it was on CD.

Are you getting it very often? That would frustrate me too much to play...

It will now roll within the 470-490 range. You wil lthen need to find another exotic, break it down for exotic components, and use the GS blueprint (buy this from the WH vendor if you haven't) to raise the CB to 500.

I haven't looked too much into it, but...how do you find more exotics? In the first game, I was drowned in Exotics. In this one, my only exotics are the Chatterbox and Lullabye. Can you repeat the chatterbox quest (or ones like it) if you want to break down additional ones for exotic components? Or do exotics actually drop randomly too?

You can repeat the parts stuff yeh.

Merci and Sweet Dreams drop from named bosses of the Hyenas and Outcasts respectively. The higher the difficulty, the higher the chance of a drop.

I got my Sweet Dreams after 30+ challenge mode runs of DCD HQ.... and then got another in the very next game, lol.

I got my Merci randomly fighting the boss in Jeferson Trade in a challenge daily.

Thanks! I'll do some googling for how they are crafted/dropped, but good to know that I may come across some naturally (and also good to know there's no harm in going after those Hyena boxes again).
