I played the hell out of the game when it first came out, almost all solo, but really enjoyed my time. For whatever reason, once I got into the second world tier, I just completely fell off. I think part of it is just the sheer volume of inventory management; there's so much looting that it's almost overwhelming, and there are so many different stat systems in play that jumping back into it is tough.

That said, I enjoy the core gameplay so much that I'm trying to force myself to get back into it, and hopefully the expansion will help with that. Tough to keep up with this alongside other games like Destiny 2 or CoD. The seasons business model is finally starting to show it's downside for me, as you certainly feel pressure to keep up with certain games while putting others aside.

Looking forward to the new content though, hopefully I can get hooked again!

Just picked this up digitally on PS4 (along with the influx of new users taking advantage of the heavy discount) so am looking forward to diving in shortly. Will check the Discord for clan details.

While I agree it's not worth it at full price, (it's currently £5 on psn) the 8 classified assignments and instant unlock of the Specialisations are well worth the £5 imo.

I need to get into the clan as well.

As a side note, is crafting and selling stuff to the vendors as "useless" as in the first game? At least for the PvE campaign part?

I need to get back into this game. Like others, I played a ton at launch and then dropped off pretty fast. But it sounds like they are revamping it quite a bit.

With the $2.99 pricing I double dipped a copy for my X and played a bit with my cousin today and had a good time but it was kinda rough playing on console after spending all my time on PC. The game was certainly playable and is still a blast in co-op but the frame rate got kinda dicey at times, the PC version is almost like a generational leap in terms of visuals and performance...

I'm hoping they also go back to rework the Year 1 content during Year 2.

Kenly College needs more than just Masteries and add difficulties for Classified Assignments please.

Thanks, man! Sadly, I clicked on someone else's referral link without realising it was for PC only, and according to the Ubisoft page, you can't change your platform once you've clicked through (so guess I'm just SOOL, ah well).

Thanks, took you up on this and send you a friend invite. Looking forward to it.

Did someone say there's a new loot system coming? Worth waiting as a new player or plow into it?

the new loot system drops March 3rd but I think it's most applicable to end game stuff. So, I think new players are good to play now but you'll wanna hold off on grinding once you reach the endgame until the 3rd.

Seems the player count has picked up a bit. I'm finally getting full squads for these black tusk missions. I'm at GS 315 but it seems gearing up is very easy. I'll probably reach the current max GS by end of the month.

Just read through all the stuff that's coming and I'm pretty pumped for it. I've been playing recently and got my GS up to 470-ish. I'll join the clan and maybe post my gamer tag here later. On Xbox.

Just as a little tip:

Reaching the max GS isn't necessarily the goal. Its the loot grind for the build you want to make that's the goal

Hell, in case you do plan to buy Warlords of New York, your GS will no longer display and instead you'll have a level 40 cap and an infinite progression system (ala Diablo 3's Paragon system)

Did they make the endgame of this easier for solo players recently?
Yeah, over the past bunch of patches, there have been numerous changes, from overall weapon balance to enemy time to kill that have made nearly all of it very much solo-friendly. It used to be that there were only a couple of viable guns. Now, most are viable, with certain guns in each class able to eke out just a bit more DPS for the hardest content.

With even a non-optimized build, you should be able to complete all content outside of the Normal mode Raid and Heroic missions solo. Any control points, activities or missions up to Challenging are fairly steamroll-able as long as you have okay DPS or survivability. We're talking a build where the talents are unlocked and there's a direction to it, even if not with max attributes. Honestly, the only thing to watch out for is the suicide bombers and drones - they've upped explosive damage, so those guys can, no matter how tanky, still do damage to you.

That said, if you optimize a Seeker mine build or a couple of others you can search on Youtube, even Heroic missions can be solo'd.

So yeah, basically anything but the Raid is solo-friendly.

Right on, yeah - join Kneel and Flex (KNF). Come March 3rd, everyone should basically be in the same boat (starting the grind from 30-40) so it'll be a good time to squad up.

Gear Score is getting removed ? I haven't been reading every bit of info...but from my understanding the GS will remain but just keep going upwards with no cap once you hit lvl 40

The way they talked about it, yeah, the last gear score you'll see if 515 (probably if you stick in DC only), but once going to DC you'll just see level 31-40 and your gear will visually show you in the menu how close each attribute is to a god roll. There's an example of the new inventory screen in this video:
https://youtu.be/_5E_qeQsU3Q?t=412

(infinite progression isn't actually fully infinite - but you get to bump your character up in core stats like weapon damage, armor, weapon handling etc. like 0.2% at at a time. It looks like a lot of these stats will cap out at 10-20% bumps, but there's a lot of them, so it's going to be a grind).

Does anyone have any issues downloading the game through Uplay? It downloaded the first 8gb without any issues, but now it's not downloading anything at all.
If I restart Uplay it'll download at 4Mb/s for a few seconds before dropping down to 0. No matter what I change it doesn't seem to do anything.

It is "infinite" in that you gain SHD levels and each level you can grab the "resources" node once you attribute nodes done

For anyone looking for things to do to prepare for March 3rd, one of the best things is to do right now is to collect attributes to store for the eventual re-calibration endgame (that is, unless the devs specifically tell us that these attribute ranges will grow come March 3rd). As it stands, with Loot 2.0, any attribute stat or talent you store, you'll be able to re-calibrate it onto other gear you loot. Here's the current max attribute sheet (keep in mind that some of these are theoretical max rolls, but near impossible to drop in the game, as they'd require the other 1-3 attributes to roll at their bare minimum to allow for such a high number to come out at all - in reality, if you're getting 80-90% of the way to one of these stats, you're probably getting rolls that are considered top tier to god roll.

Max Attribute Rolls

(Of course, with the budget system gone March 3rd, and better gear dropping with harder difficulty levels, some of these theoretical numbers will likely be more realistic to drop).

Yeah, true, but in my books, when you're done the attributes, additional resources doesn't actually mean character progression. My character isn't any better or worse if he has more credits, polycarbonate, etc. It's going to be useful to be able to turn SHD levels into resources, but it doesn't feel like at that point it will really be about character progression.

I mean we are also getting a level increase for gear from 30-40 so i am pretty sure the current god rolls will be bad once you are lvl 40

It looks like that'll be true of some of the stats (like Armor/Health - particularly ones that aren't % based), yeah. But most of the other ones, that are already calculated by % points, feel like they won't be able to increase by the same extemes. Partly because they feel balanced where choosing to invest in slots can already get you to caps for Hazard Protection/Skill Haste/Crit Chance, etc., and partly because with SHD levels, you'll also be seeing a lot of those stats get 10-20% bumps on top of that. Oh, and in TU8 % increases will apply to all sources, where in TU7, those % increases are often obtuse in how they don't just take your total armor/health/weapon damage etc. and increase it by 10%, for example. I'm just not sure the game could handle things like 40% weapon damage boosts and such. That said, we haven't seen Legendary yet, so who knows...you may be right.

Granted, this is a work in progress build, but here it looks like an 18% weapon damage roll on a chest piece would still very much be a maxed out god roll. Crit Damage looks like a TU7 god roll (24%) would be a top tier roll in TU8 (looks like it caps around 30%).
www.twitch.tv

Twitch

Twitch is the world's leading video platform and community for gamers.

My guess is that for a lot of the TU7 attributes, a godroll now will equate to a top tier roll in TU8 (and sometimes may still be a god roll)...while other stats, particularly Armor/Health/Armor on Kill/Health On Kill will end up looking pretty light in comparison (this section of the Twitch looks like Armor rolls will end up more than doubled from current max).

I have the same issue when trying to do updates on uplay. Say a 7 gig upload would download about 98% then always fail. I've found I need to turn on my VPN and change my location to get the last 2%. No idea why this works or what causes it.

Any difference if I start playing today, or wait until 3rd March? I.e, any reason to wait?
I don't think you have to wait. If you start on March 3rd you'll already play with the new gear system but honestly gear and builds are basically pointless during the leveling process cause you change out every for higher level/gearscore anyway.
And if you play through the missions and such till March 3rd you can immediately (if you want to) jump into the expansion and level to 40 and THEN start properly gearing yourself with the new system and loot
