I gotta say, after three days of this event... it's really not very fun. It's just a bunch of busy work that's more awkward than engaging, and while I'm burning through it pretty quickly I'd rather be getting on with testing my builds in regular play.

Will not miss it when it's over.

Thanks. Tried all of that, no dice. Very annoying...

EDIT: switching the event on and off fixed it!
Hah, was just about to post that I saw someone have that work for them.

I'm at a spot where I enjoy the mechanics of the event, love getting the damage up with the multiplier, enjoy getting rewarded for playing that way, etc., but am not finding that too many of the challenges that aren't just related to kills/headshot kills or mission completions tedious. Sure I can go to Federal Emergency bunker and farm the weakpoint kills from the suicide bombers, but...I don't WANT to. I'd actually rather they be even more specific, forcing you to try out new builds, like things that encourage shotguns/SMGs, etc., rather than grinding the same action over and over.

The concept of the vent is fine, but the mechanics are badly designed, imo. Having to switch weapons/reload to switch polarity just feels clunky to me. It would have been cooler, imo, to somehow have a key you could press to just switch the polarity.

I wish they'd change a couple things in the dark zone. My main one would be that if I start a dark zone drop anyone else who comes in should have to go rogue and steal it rather than me have to go rogue to defend it.

I haven't been in the DZ for ages... but I thought if they want to steal they have to go rogue to do so?

Don't.. the exotic caches are droppping god rolled exotics most of the time.. reach rank 9 at least.

I do the event in Story difficulty and just snipe a group of enemies and die with my own grenade. That's the fastest way to do it.

I've done a bit more but it's quite tedious tbh. Will do a little more but as mentioned above, it's busy work and not a great deal of fun.

Speaking of Global Event. I got the Exotic Cache and it gave me another bloody Sweet Dreams. Sadly, its no god-roll:

At least the rolls are better than the one I have in my stash:

And I did manage to complete Technician Spec, so there's that too:

In fact, I'd say I've managed to complete all the post-launch 3 specs, so happy days, haha!

Now's the real test whether I should bother farming points for Demolitionist

Is there an easier place to farm a specific piece of True Patriot - in this case, the gloves - than Set Items? Like, is it better to farm Targeted Loot: Gloves or something?

Gosh darn this UI is a hot mess that needs an overhaul, I'm used to it but it's still one of the most convoluted UIs I've ever used.

Maybe someone else can confirm - I believe it is best to run Gear Set open world (activities + control points)?

For areas targeting gloves, there are 17 items you're competing with to drop as targeted loot. But the chances of dropping a Gear Set in open world are also significantly lower than a regular gold brand, I believe.

For areas targeting Gear Sets, you're competing with something like 50 items (all of the Gear sets in all of the slots, other than those that only drop in the raid), but every piece of targeted loot is going to be Gear Set.

You can save one demolition loadout and keep its equipment in the inventory.
Switch to that loadout when you are about to complete the mission or just don't need the extra stats. Even better, if you are doing Capitol/Lincoln/Roosevelt (missions that don't end as soon as you clear the boss stage), you can swap to demo at the very end post-combat.

Run the mission with Gear/Gloves in matchmaking, mention that you are hunting Patriot gloves, most people will donate them in that case. Plus, I would say that farming Gear-sets is much better for the overall wealth: chances are you don't have best-rolled everything. Future-proof your stash in case you want to build another green set.

Same, and to make it worse you typically get pushed to do it solo and on the easiest difficulty you can do it on. All the while, farming a specific area to do it efficiently. It isn't fun at all.

Eesh, so no absolutely smooth answer, then. Got it, thanks!
I should reiterate, yeah, grouping up is absolutely the best way if you're looking for a specific piece of gear, particularly one like that that not a lot of players are farming for. You're upping your chances significantly. I'd guess that in a group of four, doing Gear Set open world, you'd probably get a few pieces to choose from within an hour if you were farming efficiently (pick activity after activity). Even just solo each morning doing a few activities + control points, you'd likely get a couple within a day or two?

I only play with a few people who aren't available much [and I refuse to touch randos] and I've been doing this, but I keep getting the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucking kneepads and chestplate and mask. Everything but the gloves, basically. I have nine True Patriot kneepads! Nine!

Remember I'm on all the time, lol. Hit me up whenever you need a body for extra loots.

If they're not rogue they can just claim it while you fight the NPCs around it. If they're not in your group they just get it and you don't, so you have to go rogue and kill them to defend it.

Got the Liberty, now I need to find a build for it.
Striker/Cusader are very good on all difficulties even without Skill Tier. The ability to move between cover safely and use soft cover while you regen and peak adds another layer to movement, as does being able to harass enemies up close. Pull out Liberty when you want to refresh your shield, and while you don't actually need kills to proc the talent... it hits very hard and is a decent weapon overall, so you never lose out on much DPS.

CQC builds can be fun, I have one with AR/Shotgun that I'm enjoying.

The M1A/Focus build is stupid.

Or go full tank and use Liberty as your primary, when you spec into this it can be a brutal weapon. Fast reload, hard hitting, keeps your shield up... really fun.

Wait, are we talking about loot the enemies drop while you're defending the pick-up zone, or do you literally mean the contaminated loot you put on the rope to evac?

What do you mean with tank? Everything on armor?

My Liberty build blows through heroic and is very nearly Legendary-ready if you want it.

Sure!

I'd be interested in seeing that please.

Sure! Astro can vouch for this one.

So your main/secondary gun don't matter at all, you'll just be using Liberty.

You wanna be the Technician specialist, and run the Bulwark shield and the Artificer hive. Ideally, you wanna be 3 armor/3 skill tier, but this is pretty flexible. Artificer hive will heal your shield every few seconds, so you're not just reliant on Liberty. SUPER useful.

For gear, you want the 4-piece True Patriot Set, the Tardigrade Chestplate, and ideally, a piece of Douglas and Harding for the 20% pistol damage bonus. If you wanna go PURE tank you can give this up, especially for those kneepads I forget the name of that make you stagger-proof. You have options! Personally, I favor Tardigrade Chest, True Patriot Backpack/Mask/Gloves/Kneepad, and Douglas and Harding Holster, but this is flexible, especially if you want a backpack bonus from another set. I like having a bit more damage is all.

For secondary stats, you wanna stack Hazard Protection and skill repair, because they'll help against fire and boost your Hive's healing.

With this build, I tend to do around 400k per body shot, 900k per headshot, and my shield has 13.5mil health and heals around 8 million every 10s, plus Liberty's stacks.

I have a VERY easy time tanking on heroic, even in duos/trios/fours, and the damage is good enough to drop most Heroic enemies within a few seconds.

No, I mean the event in the dark zone called "dark zone drop". There's a plane that flies over and drops in some chests that you have to claim, and they supposedly have the best chances for good gear in the DZ. NPCs spawn around them and it takes a while to claim the drop so you have to kill the NPCs first, but while you're killing them someone else who isn't in your group can sneak in and claim it. If you do spot someone claiming it you have to go rogue to defend it since if they claim it you get nothing.

That sounds interesting. Definitely going to check it out. Can you still farm the Liberty parts? Just killed Kendra on hard but no drop (its a boosted character if that matters - as my original got the "fucked in the face" bug), I thought it was guaranteed but maybe thats only the first time.

Oh right, forgot about that particular event.

Yeah, unfortunately I feel like that's how the event is designed and that particular interaction is intentional. It does suck and if I were still playing DZ content (which I'm not because I am a BABY), I'd only ever steal drops myself.

I feel like that sort of event should work in a Kane & Lynch Dog Days kinda way, where every human player is presumed to be working together until one (or some) decides to fuck over everyone else, and they turn rogue.

It is guaranteed.

If you have an old liberty it will prevent you getting the parts to drop again. You need to dismantle or place on another character.

Pretty fed up with the polarity event. Challenging, Hard, Normal, it's just not fun no matter what. Challenging is too difficult and Normal is still grindy as hell even though 99% of the danger is gone. Hard is okay, but it's too easy to get focused on finding weakpoints or trying to get an angle on someone's head and then you get flanked and you're fucked real fast.

I just want to play the game normally. This sucks.
