Lonestar Our community thread is up! I suppose this means you'll be closing the season 3 OT, which served us well.

Welcome aboard, beratnas and sésatas!

Amazing OT, I love it!

Thank you so much! The design work was handled by a close friend of mine whose abilities can only have been achieved through the protomolecule IMO. I did the bulk of the writing but borrowed a sentence from the net here and there.

Will we still get a proper S4 thread?

We shall! I'm gonna hold off on "calling" it in advance however since I don't want to hog every topic. I'll happily create one if nobody else does, though.

Oh hell yes. I consider everyone that post in this thread a new member of my family.

I can't believe I hadn't watched this show before 2019. Love it.

Purchased the first two audiobooks...REALLY good time fillers while I wait for season 4. Everything is described in a level of detail that makes me focus on things I overlook while simply watching the show.

Looking forward to seeing how amazon takes the show further into the books. The scope of the story keeps growing, curious to see how they manage to adapt the later books.

Proud to have you in the family! I'm always happy when I read about someone joining the fandom. The anti-cancellation campaign and subsequent Amazon marketing efforts have grown our fanbase's size considerably; we're no longer very niche. Just niche-ish. :P

I would also like to see a bigger budget for open spaces with tons of people. The show reduced the size and complexity of many locations [Ceres, Eros, Nauvoo, etc] from the book.

Fantastic Op.
Glad it got renewed. I can't wait for the new season.
It's one of the best sci-fi tv Shows, no doubt about that and everything is so well thought and explained, something that is not guaranteed nowadays and should not be taken as granted.
I need more of doors and corners in my life.

Wonderful job OP! Absolutely love this show.

Many folks have said the first season takes awhile to get really interesting, but I'm one of the few who didn't find the first half boring because I just instantly fell in love with the premise and I just ate up every bit of the world-building they did. The attention to detail out of the gate was impressive, and their ability to create such an interesting and believable universe without too much exposition was impressive. I just love how the show gets better with each new season, and I have very high hopes and expectations for season 4.

Amos is my fav character. I didn't love the lead (Holden) at first but he's grown on me (and I think he's gotten better as the show found it's footing)

Planning on starting the book series sometime, but I don't want to get further ahead of the show as I prefer to experience the show first.

Gotta say, I'm a little disappointed that it looks so Earthy. I understand why (it'd be too expensive)but I was hoping that it'd, I dunno, look more alien. I definitely imagined it more alien while I read the book.

No,

Earth like planets has stuff like plants and water and land. Much like Earth, because those are the things that make Earth habitable. We can't exactly live on the moon, because the moon doesn't have water and plants. Same goes for Mars, Venus, and basically all the other planets in this Solar System. But if a planet is habitable, then it's safe to say that it has all those things that makes Earth great to live on. Sure, it may not look 100% the same but it should look similar to Earth.

Dude, I'm talking about how the trees and grass look.

The appeal is that they're habitable and not that they visually look like Earth.
I read the books, I know there's trees and grass but they were always described is looking not quite the way they look on Earth. Pretty much everything they find on the planets have Earth counterparts but they visually look different.

Maybe there should be something said about spoiler rules here?
not sure all show watchers assumed there'd be visits to alien planets as of yet, those shots could be on earth as far as anyone that's not the books can tell.
And regarding it not looking alien enough, I tend to agree, though it could be fixed with CG that seems to be lacking in those promo shots. Though it's been quite a few years since I read Cibola Burn, I tend to recall the planet being pretty barren with regards to vegetation, no trees iirc, but I could recall wrong.

They also released several shots from surface of Illus [it's not flat wasteland like in the book, it's more rocky].

The poster looks amazing. Season 1 & 2 were some of my favorite part of a tv show ever. For me, The Expanse is on par with Person Of Interest and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D in terms of story telling, world building and character development. Glad it was renewed for season 4!

Still have to watch season 3 :(
