The fact that the CP2077 E3 trailer had beep sounds for bad words yet it depicted extreme graphic violence is really stupid

MS broadcast the conference on FuseTV. They have to respect broadcasting rules in the US.

People saying it's because it's the US apparently didn't watch the Bethesda conference.

Yep it was hilarious, especially since one instance was 'goddamn' I'm pretty sure. Arms off, though? Fine. Also that black square censoring a middle finger in the BL3 trailer.

Funny thing they didn't censor the middle finger here. But did it in the Borderlands. Like, what.

I thought it was unbearable how they beeped out swearing in trailers but used that level cursing live, on stage, from their presenters.

I was ecstatic hearing this get clowned on in the Devolver Digital show.

Same reason you can show graphic violence on network TV but a nipple would shut everything down. America has fucked up priorities.

There was a trailer that censored a middle finger lol, I was fine with the language but censoring the finger was laughable.

Oh! Lol that makes the Borderlands censoring all the more baffling and laughable then.

I still don't get the point of throwing in "cock sucker". It's homophobic and misyognstic and I really don't want to hear casual unnecessary slurs like that when I'm trying to enjoy a game (or game trailer).
I mean with that protagonist. The appeal is for the edgy crowd. It’s quite clear. Here i thought the game would be different.

America is still the same it was when Hot Coffee became a scandal. Badly rendered sex - in a game where you can murder pretty much anyone - was offensive. Extremely strange attitudes.

I'm pretty sensitive to homophobic slurs but the idea of characters who are violent criminals and killers being expected to use polite, inoffensive language is absurd. It's all in the context, and in the context of Cyberpunk's world it's honestly fine. It's designed to run the line of punk spirited bad taste.

If the game overall has an aggressively homophobic tone then sure, but given they've already been open about gay options then this really isn't a big deal.

Maybe in 2077 people have auto censors installed in their bodies to make a beeping noise when they swear.

Yes it is. Entrails flying about is just fine as long as you don't say naughty words.

Beeping out words for an M rated game had me 🤔 but it's because it was broadcasted to everyone in the world and that includes PG13 - E.

Especially in a game that's set so far in the future where you could reasonably assume that people might have come up with some new (possibly less homophobic) insults.

The first video from a while back had a female player character and it about as bad as you're probably thinking.
I know, that's why I am concerned. Don't forget the ass exposition which clearly indicate that the female is for "men who choose to play female to have a waifu".
The worst part is, CDPR is, like Rockstar, intouchable.

There's all sorts of concessions made to every aspect of a game to make it more enjoyable—you don't have to spend weeks in game to walk after getting shot in the leg. It's the same with language.

And the context of their twitter making transphobic tweets is disconcerting.

Anyone else found that extremely stupid? It was hilarious how they censored words like "fuck" yet in the next scene there was graphic murder scenes lmao.

What was the point?

For those that didnt see it:

Maybe because is "An event for all audiences"

Even with that the blips does not make senses.

Welcome to america where double standards apply to your needs.

Agreed. Imagine if they beep every asshole character on movies, would be awful.

As has already been said, that's just how American media is (unless it's cable like HBO or a movie). Sex and cursing is somehow much more taboo than murder.

Like on basic cable, you could kill hundreds of dudes over the course of a show, but you better not show any boobs or say "shit".
