I'm fine with them avoiding putting Arnold in over other characters. He's a pacifist. Grandma was the perfect choice honestly, I've been harping that for a while now.
That being said I doubt this is the full roster and I'm not 100% on this being legit anyway. Unless there's a hard source I'm not aware of. The amount of vets missing is concerning.

I mean yeah but I don't think that's the only factor here. Dark Danny is definitely more popular for instance. Probably the most popular villain from the show after Vlad.
Oh yeah, forgot about him. Dark Danny was like the poster child for "You wasted a perfectly good character" considering how popular he was.
You're probably right then that they wanted another female rep and chose one of the more popular ones from this show.
There's a new graphic novel that just got released that brings back Dark Danny that is supposedly good, gonna read it soon.
I know it wasn't animated, but this game really should have a Legends of the Hidden Temple-themed level.
The first game wasn't animation only (there was a double dare level that came with Shredder) and they did have that short-lived revival of hidden temple a few years ago, so it's always a possibility.
there was a double dare stage in the original, hidden temple is not outside of the scope of possibility
it was syndicated on nick for a while but mercifully it has no chance of actually showing up here.
unfortunately it's for the same reason that we'll never see doug in here.
True but I'd prefer more Avatar characters, like Zaheer or at least Ozai, which probably I can see as DLC if the game does well.
Also worth adding is that all veteran characters are getting their moves remade to make them more unique and together with Super moves, I can't imagine everyone from the first game coming back.

Ahahaha!!! OMG I was asking for Hey Arnold's grandma when the first game was rumoured/announced. I will just assume that someone read my post on here. She is the most badass character from the cartoons. Also, I'm so glad that my boy Gerald is in.

FWIW if this really is the leaked splash screen (which given both everyone's in clear detail and the artstyle's consistent across the newcomers AND the veterans who got new art, is very likely), the first game's splash art was incomplete for a while. Nigel Thornberry was only added later for some reason, so it's not impossible there are some remaining characters, although I wouldn't count on too many

Wait, is Pookie her actual name? I remember only Arnold's grandpa calling her that and I always just thought it was an affectionate nickname for her.
I know a lot of people probably feel like Korra makes her redundant, but man I would so much rather have Katara playable than either Azula or Zuko. I mean don't get me wrong, they're all great, but for my money Katara is the GOAT bender.

On top of being one of the most memorable characters from the show, she is just one of those picks that make complete sense for a brawler/fighting game.
In that sense, I'm not surprised her addition is being well received here.
I don't think the promotional art would show EVERY character. I'm sure other vets will be included.

I'd love to see MK-style digitised characters of Clarissa and Sam or Fergus, like in one of Clarissa's homemade games (or Keenan and Kel or something, if they'd have more recognition.)
