Q: Who selects the nominees for The Game Awards?
A: Nominees for The Game Awards are chosen by an international jury of 69 global media and influencer outlets, selected for their history of critical evaluation of video games. I'm surprised Celeste actually made it, but glad it did.

Edit:

Oh, there are six nominees this year. Okay, that's a bit less surprising then.

Glad to see Celeste made it. It drives me absolutely insane sometimes but it's so well made and the soundtrack is awesome.

deltarune is the real GOTY though

Racing games still not getting the recognition.
But then to see AC and Monster Hunter on the list. I mean good games but GOTY?

Give it to Celeste, because let's be honest it was the best and it'll be funny to see the meltdown too.

Heh, people freaking out so quickly. Now I wish RDR2 actually wasn't nominated.

No Tetris Effect? Already a blasphemous list.

Of that list, I think God of War is the winner.

Oh, hey, they dumped the trending gamer of the year award for a Content Creator of the Year award.

Astrobot is taking the VR Award sooo easy, I feel.

Also, lack of Yakuza games on narrative category will always be a frigging crime.

Edit. Didn't realize Tetris Effect was there too. Oh boy, now the competition will be good

That list of nominees accurately reflects how much of a bummer this year was for me and my tastes. I literally don't care who wins out of that list.

Odyssey is so bloated and derivative of Origins I have a hard time seeing how anyone could argue it as GOTY. Celeste getting the nod is cool though... but let's just give everything to Red Dead like we know is going to happen and get to the announce trailers lol

Celeste is so fucking good. I hope it wins because that'd be so cool for the dev.
