Also, I'm a member of the new, unofficial BSN boards and I don't have it in me to tell the community there not to dismiss the "DA4 is at least three years away" statements as baseless rumors to be ridiculed, which is what they've been doing.

Anything that Jason Schreier effectively confirms here is blatantly true in my book.

I'll, uh, just... let folks dream for now, I guess. x.x
oh, i used to hang out there--got kinda fed up of the lax moderation after a while, though - seriously, that they didn't ban the guy with the jawline chart is... ugh - so i pretty much haven't been back since just before andromeda came out.

seems like the sorta place where people'd be all like, 'bleh, kotaku?! fake news!', anyway. every freakin' time with jason's stuff: he posts some news people don't wanna hear, they ignore his track record and credentials and convince themselves it can't possibly be true - potentially with a side of throwing harassment at him on twitter - and then, well, it always ends the same way.

in any case, i'm glad we're getting a teaser, even if it'll be brief--it still feels like, i dunno, reassurance that the game'll happen someday.

Never watch vga.
Is it fun or is it loooooong and kind of boring?

It's cringy, massively cringy and bad and it's also an awful award show that doesn't even respects itself and literally announces several awards in an oneliner or while being backstage. It's awful and mostly not worth it.

And for whatever crazy reason, they get all the big names and announcements and they are mostly worth it to watch on the other side. My brain still can't process how that fits together, but yep, this is a thing.

I hope there will not be a Josef Fares moment. That was just embarrassing for all of gaming. There just was no need to call out the Oscars and pretend that somehow the video game industry is better. If anything, it shows how much this industry has to grow up. I'm crossing my fingers.

I'm looking forward to Metroid Prime and for Celeste to win it big.

Also obviously Viewtiful Joe 3.

I'm gonna be praying for the site's health tonight. I still remember what happened after the Bayo 3 announcement last year.

Considering TLOU2 is already confirmed to be a no show and that its seemingly too early to show Harry Potter... I guess I am exclusively watching this to see a new Death Stranding trailer. Please dont disappoint me Kojima-san.

Because the awards is just a pretense,we all know this show has become big due to the announcements, trailers etc.

Lmao, so Joel McHale is really going to be there. I wonder if Geoff brings his leather jacket back too, for Joel to make fun of.

Are the first 30 min some kind of pre-show?

I keep seeing 5:30 and 6 thrown around as the start time

Posting a word-for-word guess on the way in which Dragon Age 4 will be revealed.

*Casey Hudson's voice*

"At BioWare, we have always prided ourselves on innovating quality storytelling."

*concept art of the Hinterlands, literally drawn in 2012 as early artwork for Inquisition*

"We craft characters to care about within realms which invite millions of players around the world to explore."

*several overly-organized desks with trophies earned for previous titles, only one of which involving Dragon Age*

"With increases in technology come bold new frontiers to ply our trade, allowing us to revisit our rich history of games franchises."

*Mass Effect galaxy theme begins to play, inciting thousands of internet posts incorrectly hyping the return of Commander Shepard*

"And although it will be awhile before we invite our players to return to those realms, we're humbled to announce our next great adventure: Dragon Age 4."

*concept art of a dragon; overhead shot of dozens of employees working on last-minute revisions for Anthem*

"Join us in our newest journeys in the years to come."

*voiceover ends; text appears on the screen announcing the launch of Dragon Age 4's official website circa late 2019*
Man, DA4 was the only reason I was going to sit through another one of Keighley's over-hyped train wrecks but you are 100% right and now I think I might just skip this thing altogether.

Is there any link in the OP that will replay the whole show tomorrow without any spoilers next to it?

The Oscars should really look to the Game Awards for inspiration for how to revamp their show. New movie trailers, announcements, cool deals on the best movies of the year. Would make plenty tune in.

That said, I'm super proud of how far Geoff has brought this and really excited to see tonight's show and the trajectory for them into the future.

I kinda agree and i thought it was kinda lame they used that xlip in a lot of promos for this year. Some people will say we need to lighten up though.. i dunno.. just felt too 'edgy' for me

Hopefully this has some good surprises. I feel like everything has been leaked.

How many awards during pre-show? Im guessing 10.

Oh geez. I actually haven't been on the boards much yet myself. I was a fairly prolific poster on the old official BSN, but yeah. That sounds kind of rough, though. And yep. Folks may Jason under the bus like so many do, and then folks will despair. It's a bad cycle. Like, Reapers bad.

I do agree about the reassurance. I've seen people ask why BioWare should even bother when "everybody knows they're working on DA4." And yet I've seen just as many posts or more over the years claiming they aren't. Sooooo.

Man, DA4 was the only reason I was going to sit through another one of Keighley's over-hyped train wrecks but you are 100% right and now I think I might just skip this thing altogether.

Heh. D: Well, here's hoping I'm wrong! But yeah... it feels right given what we know about how far along (or rather, how early) in development this is.
