Happy for the God Gundam and will probably get it, but I've only heard ok things about the Hi Res line, no one seems to have any defining takes on them.

Oh, so you're not familiar with wonky pacing and sudden conversation turns.

That looks awesome but forgive my ignorance but what is a Hirm model?

1/100 kits. Quoting the Gundam wiki: "Each kit consists of a pre-assembled skeletal inner frame made from diecast metal parts, ABS and POM plastic, as well as runners of the armor pieces with a glossy or metallic finish. The inner frame is made in China while the outer armor pieces are made in Japan."

Honestly the only HiRM I've considered getting is the Wing EW or the Astray Noir. But this God Gundam looks like a must have.

Here's some product images.

Also confirmed that the Penelope flight unit is removable to reveal the base Odysseus Gundam.

That's pretty epic, probably out of my price range though. I'm probably ordering the master grade Shadow Gundam next

Though I haven't posted here in a while, I actually managed to watch everything (I believe) from UC.

In the end, the original Gundam 0079 is the one I enjoyed the most, as far as longer series go; I quite liked Zeta, ZZ less so. I kinda skimmed over Victory, as I wasn't really feeling it.
Twilight Axis was interesting, though of course quite rushed and a bit confusing. Similarly, I wasn't too fond of IGLOO, despite thinking the base idea was potentially interesting. I didn't like Thunderbolt that much, though the visuals and music were pretty great.
I liked Unicorn and Narrative well enough, though I also feel that there was a bit too much "magic" for my taste (in NT mostly).

The entries I liked the most were the short OVAs series; Stardust Memory a bit less so, but War in The Pocket and The 08th MS Team were both great.

I'll probably check out some other series/timelines later on; IBO seems quite promising, as it's pretty recent and I like a lot of the designs I have seen.

Enjoy this animated opening video directed by Obari for the new Gundam Breaker Mobile game!

Eh, no Back-On so it cancels out to just mediocre. (just kidding, Obari is awesome)

Oh, so your not familiar with wonky pacing and sudden conversation turns.
Brain Powerd is probably the worst of it all. Weird pacing, things just happening, and people having conversations with themselves out loud.

I began listening to this podcast called Mobile Suit Breakdown. They go so in depth to every episode of gundam and I can't wait for them to get to some of my favorite shows. Has anyone else heard of it. (Probably)

IBO is pretty good. The first season has some pacing problems, but as a whole the series is good.

IBO is specially recommendable for those who dislike these Gundam staples:
  • Magical powers for pilots that are the "next-step of evolution" (be it newtypes, coordinators, x-rounders, etc.) The Alaya-Vijnana concept is comparatively grounded and doesn't make you see the tears of time.
  • Beam spam
  • Funnel/bit shenanigans

Soooo, I have just finished watching Reconguista in G, and... it was fine I guess?

I really liked it visually, it's all so colorful and the character are so lively, them dancing on the mid episode bit is super cute and nice, the ending has them doing a bunch of silly stuff with each other, even when the characters shown want to kill each other. But the openings are super disappointing, they have good music but it's all reused animation from the actual anime.

The suit design are also super diverse and different, I liked pretty much all of them, the G-Self is super cool with all the backpacks and such, they got me there, I want all of them.

But, the story and the tone of it is just... I don't even know, the whole show is selling itself as this silly, happy go lucky adventure, and all these characters are doing this silly stuff and acting in ways that are not fit for their positions/situations, and I figured it was just going to be a happy little, very different, Gundam story with some nice message at the end, but that it would overall be light on plot and such. NOPE, it has just as many factions and little details of the universe as you can get, and I feel that at no point any of it was properly explained, the story never stops to explain stuff, as soon as you're getting used to a situation they throw you something new.
I guess it never gets "boring" but it also never makes any sense, the silly characters doing complete non-sense like stealing a important mobile suit and taking hostage a high profile officer gets played off as a joke, and people who are fully able to stop that just sit there and let them do it, that plus actual moments where characters dies, moments where they sit and talk some bullshit about taboo or SU-cord, the tone of the series just feels all over the place.

Oh, and the ending is... uuuuhhhhhh... I guess it happened, at one point in the final battle someone said that it was over and therefore it was over, everyone that survived was suddenly big friends somehow I guess, I'm not even sure who won. And then Bellri went over to Japan. WHAT!?

I don't think I actually understood anything that happened in the story, am I alone in this? lol

No, G-Reco did not make any sense and all your points are exactly what everyone else feels and says about it lol. It's plot was extremely bipolar every episode.

I recently finished G Gundam with my friend. We liked it overall, him more so than I. It was a bit too zany for my tastes and the main cast wasn't that great apart from Domon. Plus the villains were kinda eh. But the openings were great and the midgame and endgame stretches were very solid.

You mean Impulses? Being different colors means they are different kits.
First, the Blast Impulse seems really unpopular seeing how it has neither a Master Grade nor a High Grade.
Second, while the Force and the Sword Impulse have Master Grades and High Grades, only the Force Impulse has a modern remastered High Grade (that you'll identify by it being called either HGCE as in High Grade Cosmic Era or Revive). The quality of the old High Grades for Seed Destiny is somewhat low.
Since I think you live in the US, buying local should be feasible although stock will usually be better on sites from Japan, specially for non recent kits.

Examples of Japanese sites I've used and can vouch for:
https://hlj.com/1-144-scale-hgce-force-impulse-gundam-bann06326
https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail/?gcode=TOY-GDM-2983

Example of US site I never used so I have no idea if it's worth it. Notice how it is currently out of stock:
https://www.gundamplanet.com/hgce-zgmf-x56s-a-force-impulse-gundam-revive.html

I'm told that Barnes & Noble carries gunpla in their stores but the selection is relatively small and usually centered on kits released recently.

In any case, if you want to represent your boy Shinn Asuka, the best bang for your buck would mean getting the Real Grade Destiny Gundam. No Real Gread for the Impulses, yet.

Thank you! Hope to bring good tidings with my first foray into gunpla.

Live action is still a non-starter for me. Best news so far from the expo is the adaptation of parts the Akira manga.

So what are the upcoming releases? A live action film, a new build Divers, G reco films, Hathaway's Flash films, SOMETHING IBO? What's that the Origin thing?

Would you guys recommend Space Runaway Ideon? Seeing that it's directed by Tomino and hearing it was a big inspiration for Evangelion makes me curious.

Finally put some time in and watched the first couple episodes of Wing Gundam. Hiro seems more of the rival archetype while the Deathscythe Pilot is more of what I expect if a Gundam protagonist XD. These main five Gundams are pretty cool and even before it enters action I can tell the Tallgeese is a beast. Also Vex is obviously Char with a playboy complex(not as creepy as some of the previous examples though) . I am wondering what are the best kit options for these main 6 though?

Also now I have an excuse to pick up a Leo or two. Decently nice for grunts

Edit: when you see the Tallgeese has a Leo head under the awesome helmet XD

Here's some news about an actual good Gundam series.

Also they said that Seed would be coming in 2020, would have an Ultra Edition, and would include both the new dub and the old Bandai dub.

It was also stated that the Gundam Wing Ultra Edition is down to about 200 units. If you were on the fence about it I would move on it soon, once they run out they aren't going to produce any more.

I've been waiting for this BD for so long. Super happy that it's as soon as October.
