You're mistaken:

he's pretty consistently the weakest player on the team. if universe, abed, and dj can't carry someone then they probably don't deserve a roster slot.
Just checked the rules. H2H doesn't count for Upper/Lower or Lower/Elimination. They still play a tie breaker.
Odd. I think TI has always been like that now that I think about it. They scheduled less matches on the final day specifically to deal with tie breakers.
if their series goes 1-1 and optic/newbee both go 0-2 there will be a 4 way tie for last place
e. actually optic and newbee both look like pretty tough matches so they'll both be praying for either pain or serenity to 2-0
Guess they basically play a Bo3 now to determine who gets eliminated.
Edit: Oh wait, the 4 way tie sounds way cooler. Hope that happens.
Yea. If the stars align, that will happen. I think Optic is pretty safe with VG last—they have been doing great Against Chinese teams. Newbee might have some worries though.

Newbee followed it up with first blood and some good kills and then have been throwing ever since.

they largely crushed their group, have already secured the #1 seed, and at this point i doubt they're trying all that hard
plus VP is still a very strong team and highly motivated since this is their upper bracket placement on the line
If Newbee wins another one against Secret there'll be a 3 way tie for the last 2 upper bracket spots. So there would be tie breakers between them, Secret, and whoever wins Optic vs VG
