Both managed to achieve their positions based on the sales of a single game -- albeit with The Last of Us: Remastered included in that title's data.

I think the bigger surprise is LA Noire is the 8th best selling new franchise of the decade in the UK?!?!
I love LA Noire and I know it sold well enough but that's pretty incredible.
Read the article.Minecraft is not a new IP in the past decade.
Original release is in 2009.
I think it's meant to be read as "single entry". All other new IP on the list have multiple games or spin-offs.Game deserved its success, but I do think "single release" is stretching it...
"Ellie is more popular than Lara Croft! if we don't count Tomb Raider games"
So the actual best selling new IP by single release is Kinect Sports then, since I'm pretty sure they didn't port that anywhere elsehere's the article:
top ten best-selling new games IP by units:
- Minecraft (Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo)
- Destiny (Bungie/Activision Blizzard)
- Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
- Watch Dogs (Ubisoft)
- Kinect Sports (Microsoft)
- The Last of Us (Sony Interactive Entertainment)
- Dead Island (Koch/Deep Silver)
- L.A. Noire (Take 2/Rockstar Games)
- Dishonored (Bethesda)
- Titanfall (EA)
RDR is technically not considered a new IP because red dead revolver exists. What about Kinect sports?
Also surprised that RDR did not chart above LANoire?

Being the Original Poster (OP) of a thread means that it's up to you to provide the foundation for good discussion. When you create a thread, you should include more than just one or two short sentences; make sure that there is enough substance to sustain an interesting conversation. Write as clearly and articulately as possible. Consider whether you're presenting the subject in a way that will generate good discussion.
