Can we just celebrate how Kass accompanies the stable music with Epona's theme if he is there?

The music in this game is masterful.

Yea no, he's an iconic character. Making a female replica would be really dumb. It wont sell more copies and will be ambiguous going further if they want to make a movie or series.

Sure he's iconic, but said addition doesn't take that away. Aside from that, from a lore point of view I'm pretty sure there's nothing that locks in what the next hero of time looks like.

This is the first time I'm ever hearing about people not liking Kass and I'm not having any of it. And I'm not a Kass superstan or anything. How there is any disagreement about Kass just being a nice cool character in that game is beyond me.

I disliked Kass for a while entirely because of the Blood Moon at Midnight Shrine, I associated him with that tiring mess

But then I heard the full final version of the song and I liked him again

Also props to Kass for giving the accordion players of the world an actually great song to perform at conventions and whatnot.

A travesty we haven't had people playing Polkamon at PAX

I've played over 220 hours of BOTW and still never come across how to solve the blood moon or any shrine involving Kass and the blood moon. Maybe it's related to one of the shrine quest riddles I haven't solved yet. Hmm. Maybe I'll come across it one day....

Yes it does. It doesn't seem like it but it would be just opening a door to make things way more complicated for the sake of playing a female link that changes literally nothing. Playing Zelda will probably happen by bits but a female link, never. It's like a female mario

I mean if it changes literally nothing than what's the issue lol.
I wouldn't compare it to Mario at all, as each Link in the timeline outside some things here and there is a different hero/character technically.

Zelda 2 link isn't the BOTW link, etc.

The thing is, the very few minority that actually wants it doesn't realize how much outrage this would make if the character was only female. And making an option of female or male would just make the only scenario and chemistry in the game even more weak. There is a lot of lore in Botw and making a female link with Zelda wouldn't work or else you are implying that there will also be a male Zelda lmao.

I can't believe people are still talking about a female Link. If there's going to be a female playable character, it would and should be Zelda.

Why would anyone even want a female Link? So you could play as yet another mute character? A playable Zelda is a million times more interesting and opens up for a potential better story too.

Here's the thing...
If Nintendo wants to do playable female link with her own gameplay and moves they will, they don't give two shits about lore and story. They will make the story fit the gameplay not the other way around.

For sure, my take is there is no point in doing that.

Yeah, this flummoxes me as well. What on Earth would a female Link add to the series? It would just be so out of left-field when you could just make Zelda playable. I know Linkle exists in Hyrule Warriors, but that's not canon and a majority of non video game forum Zelda fans would get caught off guard and hate it because, let's face it, change is scary and humans almost always hate/oppose change. And turning Link female is a MAJOR change that I don't see Nintendo risking any time soon, if ever.

Besides, a playable Zelda is way better in every way: interesting ways to incorporate it into the story and dig deeper into the lore with world building from a new perspective, a different gameplay style to contrast Link's, new and diverse types of puzzles and/or dungeons that are specific to Zelda's abilities--just to name a few off the top of my head.

The only people who would be outraged at Link being female in one game in the entire franchise are bigots. Your arguments are paper thin.

It would really fucking suck if the overworld was the same in the sequel, with minor additions. I want a completely new world Nintendo, like Termina or Koholint

It's not out of the question that we'll get to revisit Hyrule in a significantly changed landscape or get to travel to a whole new land that we've never seen before. They like to surprise us :)

If that were the case the game would've been out a year ago. Even if it is the same Hyrule, there will have been some events that will dramatically change the world. Otherwise you'd have a New Shrines DLC pack with new cutscenes and that's not how they roll.

Huh, why do you think there would be an outrage? Why should the gender matter? And a female Link can also rescue a female Zelda.

Personally, I don't care for playable Zelda or a female Link, but if it happens I would be fine with that.

So if women want a female link because they want to identify with the character they are playing, its ok to take away a character men identified with for over 30 years?
Like, am I a bigot for thinking thats a bit ridiculous?
Just make Zelda playable.

Men will be okay. It's a tough burden but they'll pull through in the end.

(how about both)
(also, gamers need to chill tf out)

I also think that this will not be a "beat the boss anytime you want"
probably they will do something slighty more traditional by making us beat some dungeons before it (in any order we want)
And im pretty confident that we will have actual dungeons

You cant argue that one group wants something to identify with and then take away something another group identified with for literal decades. It really doesnt matter what group that is.

That poster I responded to didn't ask for a toggle to swap between genders. They want a replacement.

see above. it's literally that tired old discussion.

You could take male Link away just fine and gamers men would overcome this great challenge soon enough.

Personally, I'd prefer to finally have a playable Zelda but I'd very much enjoy just having Link be a woman or flip around genders per game or hell, have a non-specific Link you can customize very mildly at the start of the game. Not like it would matter much anyway since Link will always be mute.

The female Link conversation is one worth having, but regarding Breath of the Wild's sequel, it's kind of a moot point as BotW Link returning is one of the few confirmed details we actually have. The emphasis placed on Zelda in the trailer though does lend some reason to get excited for Zelda potentially being playable though.

Yup this. The expectation the trailer sets up, after years of everyone bugging Aonuma about it, and even asking him after that debuted only to get yet another cheeky answer, it would be a huge huge huge misstep to not have her playable at the very least in some discrete segment of the game.

Why does Link have to be a guy to identify with him?
This is what I'm wondering. I'm a 6'5" 250lb bear, Link is a 5' pale twink... Gender has very little to do with how alike/different we are, or how I identify with the character.

Personally I'd love to see a female Link. Partly because I just enjoy when the sex/age/race/etc of characters get changed to freshen a franchise up, and I think it would allow for an interesting new take on the standard Zelda setup. Also because I find incel tears delicious.

Do remember that Link is also an elf. I personally find that highly unrelatable but I'm over here keeping on keeping on. Good for all you elves though who can naturally relate.

But where's the challenge in women playing a male character then? My question isn't whether men should be able to handle gettin male Link taken away from them, my question is why we should take him away in the first place. Whenever I have the option to pick, I often pick the woman as a character. But those options usually stem from games where they didn't retcon a long standing character's gender. They simply don't do that, nor should they have to.

Playable Zelda is the most reasonable thing to do when it comes to a playable female character.
Why does Link have to be a guy to identify with him?
why does Link have to be a woman to identify with her? Back then a lot of characters were male, times sucked for women being represented in games. But that's where he was created. I don't see a reason to retcon a 30 year lasting character's gender. We already have a great character that could be playable who happens to be a woman. She's called Zelda.

He doesn't, but it doesn't answer my question. How would it "take away" the character from men?

Like, as a man, I've never identified more with a video game character in the past 30 years as I did with Madeline in Celeste.
