Another information from Figaro Magazine : the Switch has sold 1 million units in France as of last week!

After its insane November-December with more than 460 000 units sold, the Switch has kept its momentum and has become the fastest selling console ever with 1 million units sold in less than a year.

The two other record-breaking consoles in France were the Wii and the PS4. The PS4 had the record, according to Sony, with 1m consoles sold in more than a year. The X1 took 3 years to reach those numbers.
https://www.lci.fr/high-tech/playstation-4-1-million-de-consoles-vendues-en-france-1566802.html

The Wii is the best-selling console in France with 6.4m units sold.

The Switch is also tracking ahead of the 3DS (911k vs 775k) in their first calendar year. The 3DS is now at more than 5.27m units sold.

Philippe Lavoué, president of Nintendo France, is expecting the Switch to sell over 2m units by the end of the year.

French People are just starving for consoles! /s

That sounds amazing! This also shows UK isn't representative for whole Europe (same as France)

I hope we hear some success stories from other countries as well

Great news. Information about Xenosaga 2 in France would be interesting, especially in France it seemed to be a good choice for a December release.

Better than 3DS without the emergency price drop is very encouraging as is the attach rate of Zelda and Mario. There is a window for "B" franchises to break out because the audience is hungry (not starved) for mid to high production games. For example if BN gave the next Switch Tales game a little budget boost so it doesn't look worse than an off year Atelier game they could probably see some growth in places like France.

Sky is the limit for the Switch in France if even the 3DS was able to sell +5m units.
Especially since the Switch is affordable but not really cheap for a Nintendo system. When they get closer to 200 in 2019 we really are going to see the sales potential of a Hybrid system.

Half a mil and then some in 2 months. They double 9 months of sales in 2 months. 2 fucking months. To say the least, this thing is beasting across the board on a DS level, and it hasn't even started gaining momentum with its library.
Ignore me, I thought it sold up to 460k.

Software is doing remarkably well too (SMO,M8D >500k, Zelda >400k, Splatoon >250k, M+R > 150k...)

Bayonetta had a first print of 50k copies (5k collectors). The game shouldn't have any problem to sell this amount, it is already OoS in Amazon.

There will be 70k copies of Kirby available Day One in France.

We had a thread a while ago were a user, forgot his name, was very sure about SE skipping the Switch for the western DQXI release for "reasons".....yeah....no.

Thats very nice - wonder how many Kirby units they will ship in Match worldwide. Could become the fastest selling Kirby.

It will easily sell its first shipment, how fast is the question mark. However with those kind of numbers, I am expecting that Kirby will be on the million-seller list in the next financial report with only 2 weeks on the market.

That's amazing! I knew France was big on Nintendo, but didn't realise it was at this level. Well done Nintendo.

I remember Zhuge saying Switch performance in the UK was "middling", which is a hell a lot better than the Wii U and how many were guessing it to be last year. Also, does anyone know xbox one LTD sales in France? I read some comment saying it was 1.3 M.

It's only really "middling" when in comparison to everywhere else where it's beating the Wii, in the UK however the Wii did better than basically everywhere in the world in its first few years

If only they would release a docked only version then they would have sold 1 million and 20 units.

Jokes aside, great news! Keep rolling on, Nintendo!

Does anyone have the link to the old place, where Nintendo France said they aimed for Wii-like figures with the Switch?

Wasn't it 1.26 at the end of 2017? So yeah could be somewhat above those 1.3m.
