So....does this just get moved to Disney's new streaming thing or do they just see the relatively high budget and the okay but not spectacular ratings and basically decide money would be best spent else where?

As a comparison remember the TNG episode where Picard dates a science officer but they eventually realise dating someone under his command is conflicting due to ordering her into danger? That's the A story of that episode, a normal problem. It also has a B plot of some space storm on a planet and shielding some base.

Was a good TNG episode imo, but not because of the sci-fi. I feel the same about this episode of Orville.
Oh yeah, I remember that episode had the callback to Picard learning to play the flute when he lived out that whole other life do to the brain...scan...thingy (lol). That's definitely a fair comparison to this episode for sure.

Did the incidental music in the latest ep, sound like it would have belonged in any old ep of tng, to anyone else too?

You have enough injections.

I enjoyed the episode compared to previous episode. Watching porn introducing virus.

Don't forget that Ron Jones, the guy who got fired from TNG for his scores being too dramatic, is one of the main composers on MacFarlane's other baby, Family Guy. MacFarlane really loves him a good TV score. (It's too bad they didn't just go ahead and let Jones do The Orville too.)

Sad to see Halston Sage go, but that was a great sendoff.

That damn jar of pickles got me.

Best episode of the season so far. Still a little stilted but nowhere near as been-there-done-that as the first two episodes. Showing these out of order also seems dumb.

That ending was so bittersweet. Gonna miss Alara.

Halston Sage rode horses competitively so the scene where she was daydreaming was extra special.

Damn I hate that I was right...I hope she comes back. Reports only said it was an extended leave because she was filming other stuff so I hope we see her again. Alara was my favorite character so far and that jar of pickles was a great call back :(

I noticed his name up front, was wondering when he would show up. I just got done with A Series of Unfortunate Events, so his name popped out at me.

Surprised to "see" him under a huge amount of makeup.
I love that they do that. Jason Alexander as the bartender is also great!

I thought this episode was a good time. Bye, Alara!

Favorite episode of the season so far for me, except for the obvious loss of Alara. Hate that. :'(

Even though it was obvious she was going to get up and fight near the end, I still thought it was a great moment for her. A little too quick/cheesy how it won her father's respect, but this is TV.

Seth Mcfarlane is the weakest part of his own show. He's not a great leading man.
He's pretty low key in this. He's kinda just a straight man and not trying to be the center of attention all the time. I think that's intentional. I always thought McFarlane got the rep for being self-absorbed and thinking he's a lot funnier than he actually is. I think production has intentionally toned him down so that he's just part of the show and not THE show.

He just comes off as boring and one note. I'm not expecting Family Guy but he's really bland and lacks charisma.

Just watched it.
Really lovely episode. Great to see those cameos too.

And I knew exactly what was going to be in that box.

Ah. I've just realised this has started in the UK. The first episode aired two days ago. Luckily, it's available on catch-up.
