It's actually a reskin/update of Seawitch, a 1980 Stern EM.The big surprise, for me anyway, is that it's another EM-inspired table like The Mafia, Total Nuclear Annhilation and Woah Nellie!
It's a proven design, Seawitch is one of my favorite Stern Electronic tables. It's actually a reskin/update of Seawitch, a 1980 Stern EM.
I'm surprised they're limiting a huge license like this to a low-volume EM-style machine, and a reskinned EM at that.
Interesting -- I don't think I've played any of the Stern Electronics EMs. Looks like there's one at the Museum of Pinball here in Southern California, so I'll have to give it a try at the next event in January. It's a proven design, Seawitch is one of my favorite Stern Electronic tables.

Edit: For the record, it looks like's it's actually a SS machine.
Correct, it's Solid State, I didn't realize it was a reskin of Seawitch when I made my original post. Early SS tables still looked and played like EMs until the ramp and multi-level innovations came.
Some of those early Sterns are pretty good. I'm also a big fan of Flight 2000 which is in TPA/SPA.
It's funny, people including myself have been begging for Seawitch on the digitalpinballfans.com forum for years but Flight 2000 remains the only Stern Electronics table Farsight has done.
I really hoped we would get more of those old games when Stern Pinball Arcade was announced but it seems at least one party in the partnership isn't interested.
Now that Farsight has lost the WMS license it would be cool if they did more. What better reason to do Seawitch now that The Beatles is coming? It would be cool to compare them and see just how diffefent the new game feels.
My biggest concern is that they will stay away from that old stuff because they can't get away with charging $10 a table like they seem to want to do going forward.
Still, it would be awesome to have Stern Electronic tables like Ali, Catacomb, Lectronamo, Star Gazer, Meteor, etc.
Seriously under-rated catalogue.
I also think a lot of Stern's are just fantastic-looking. The art is direction is strong.
The right half of the table is identical to the original 2008 Stern Batman table based on the Nolan films and the left half is new.I remember seeing that Quicksilver at PAPA HQ, it's a real stunner. All of. Those are pretty gorgeous!
I'd never heard of this Ka-Pow before this announcement. So they worked with Stern on Barman 66 too? The name sounds familiar on the table, for obvious reasons. Was that table based off of anything as well?

Black & White Twilight Zone custom table at Pinball Expo this weekend
Yeah, it won best cutom game of the Expo.
I saw that. I wonder why they used Back to the Future? Was it just there on location or something? In the new Halloween movie, there's a brief scene where a character plays the Back to the Future pinball machine (Data East).

No doubt the newer tables like Metallica would sell so much better. Its exactly what i want from Farsight. I want to see the old Stern, Gottlieb. Iv pass so many hours on pinside and youtube looking at what i wish they could bring, even recommanding them on FB to do that. There is so many old pinball i never played in my life, having them digitally, i would be more than happy. They have an amazing library, and they are sleeping on it. I rather see these old tables first before seeing Metallica, Maiden, etc, newer stuff. And as you said, will they still charge 10$ a table? Its a non-sence.
And its also a non-sence they are radio-silent since they lost the license. Perhaps these license are also in trouble? They could make tons of money brining these old machine, guess its not where they want to head up. Zaccaria is succesful with their old tables on Switch, mostly tables nobody never heard before, why not go the same way? Its a real headbanger.

As for Farsight's radio silence, that's just their MO. They've always been terrible at communicating.
No, the old table is an original theme, unlicensed.Yesh sure it would, its Metallica, and tbh, a good table like that, id be happy to pay 10$ for a big license title like this one. I want Metallica and Maiden for sure, but would be very happy to see them release old stuff first, at decent price. I rather see them release 6-8 old tables at like 3-5$ than just concentrating on 1 or 2 per year at 10$ a pop.
Speaking of old table, the Iron Maiden art blow me away, but not sure about this, is this table licensed after the band? The art look very Maiden, im just not sure if its related to the metal band.
Tbf, it may be Stern's callThanks for the info, wasent sure. It make it imo even less expensive about releasing it then, no Maiden license. Now just hoping one day Farsight just wake the fuck up and pull up their sleeves to make something happen!
Yeah, their games often get over-shadowed by the Big 3 of the time (this was before Williams acquired Midway/Bally).Thanks HotHamBoy for the Sterm info & pics -- it's a blind spot in my pinball knowledge from that era (I'm familiar with some of the Gottlieb stuff from that time, but that's about it). Beautiful stuff. I need to track down more Stern tables and give them a try.

IMO the Stern Electronics tables have a European flavor to them that the other American pins lack.
Check out these Spanish pins from around the same period:
I literally just discovered this one from Playmatic and it's a bit of a YIKES.
Wow, those also look amazing.
I see there is a Stern Pinball game on the Switch, but apparently it only includes licensed movie/rock band tables. I would love to play some of the more extravagant ones, like the ones you've been posting about. What's the closest I can get to that on Switch?
For those who were thinking like me , that new WMS tables had both new engine in all mode ( a lighter one and a realistic one depending on the type of game you were player ), well its not the case, confirmed on Zen forum by a programmer.
Solo play have the old FX engine, with some little tweak ( like increase bumper strenght )
Classic Single player arcade or tournament, got the new engine.
Think i was not alone thinking the solo play engine was feeling better than playing with older tables, its just that the WMS table are more realistic, the old engine runs pretty well simply with them. Makes me appreciate even more their old engine.
I mentioned this awhile back, as I kept trying to trap a ball off launch in classic single player, and wasn't able to like I was in the tournament which was consistent everyone.
Do you have a link for that forum post? I'd be curious as to what the programmer stated.
Actually, the Stern Pinball Arcade is obsolete. All of the content was migrated to The Pinball Arcade and the TPA Stern Bundle 1 and 2 are identical to the bundles in SPA, with the additional bonus of a Stern Electronics game called Flight 2000 which is ironically exclusive to The Pinball Arcade Stern Bundle 1. Same price.
At any rate, Flight 2000 is the table you're looking for.
The Pinball Arcade:
It's a $20 bundle and they don't sell individual tables anymore, but on the plus side you also get Star Trek, AC/DC and Ripley's Believe It Or Not which are all awesome. Starship Troopers is okay, too.
It's a good value at $4 a table, I've put tons of hours into those games.
There, around the middle, confirmed by Deep.

My God. My heart stop and head just spin for a second, saw Pinball FX quickly and those picks of Orbitor 1, though it was the next pack reveal of FX lol. Dont make sence its Stern lol.
On the subject, god, its a table id love to try, look so wicked!
This is a really cool table but it's not a very good game.
The physical gimmick would be wasted in translation to digital and then all you have left is a weak game without the novelty.
It's real, this one has been rumoured along with The MunstersApparently this showed up briefly on Dead Flip's Facebook page...
Not sure if it's a fake or an early leak. Would be a most excellent theme, though.
Woohoo. Seem like Attack From Mars is coming in FX3! My guess!
