Bioshock 2 was clearly negatively affected by the media perception to (A) a bioshock sequel not by the original devs and (B) the addition of multiplayer. Despite both the single player was a lot better than the original (and Minerva's Den was great!).

I'm listening to the show right now and I had no idea the Mega Drive Mini is just another ATGames product. What a bummer. Thanks for calling that out, fellas.

Also, I appreciated hearing people say Bioshock Infinite was a disappointment. I remember the games press going apeshit for it and when I got it, I was so confused and let down. I specifically remember one point in the game where you hear all these people chanting "VOX VOX VOX" or something like that over and over but as I was looking around I didn't see any mobs of people or even anyone looking out the windows of buildings or anything like that. The game felt like an empty world with lots of smoke and mirrors trying to convince you there was more going on than there actually was.

Anyway, not to slam that game, I just really related to the confusion over the perfect scores.

The three-man episodes for the past few months have been some of the best in a long time. Not because of who's not there, just because (at least to me) the three amigos of CJ, Greg, and Phil are simply great together. I've laughed out loud at more episodes in the past 2 months than since Mik was a regular.

(and this is not anti-Ethan stuff here, just an observation)

Seems like if you want a job in the games industry, guest star on the podcast for a while and someone will hire you in order to stop you from podcasting. lol

Ethan speaks up, perhaps a little too loudly, about the "horrors" of loot boxes, gains the attention of the entire nation, including some nefarious people, and those same powerful people want to silence him, so he's given a job where he's not allowed to be on the greatest video game podcast of all time...

But.........pretty sure neither Mike nor Dormer work in the games industry. And Ford and Ethan were both in the games industry before and during their run on P1.
I thought Mike was working for that company that makes the baseball game... or did I just make that up in my head.
I don't think I've ever looked up Dormer though. lol

I just did a spit-take laugh at work. Thanks guys!

Phil is showing off his Infinity Gauntlet toy...

Greg: "How much was that?"
Phil: "Uh...a hundred dollars"
Greg: "Jesus Christ."

Ah I love it. And don't worry CJ, you're not the only one thinking about double-dipping on Night Trap for Switch!

During the Labo and Giant Bomb stream chat I couldn't get this image out of my head as I watched the stream.

Who wears a t-shirt with a picture of himself on it?
They're selling it (already sold out of pre-orders lol) so I assume it was a bit of promotion.

Also listening to Bombcast, it seems like they didn't touch the Labo after the stream. The robot one really does seem pointlessly involved.

I'd sooner get my kid a subscription to Kiwi Crate than get him Nintendo Labo.

The latest Retronauts episode inspired me to look up the IMDB of Tom Zito. Since Digital Pictures went belly up, he's not been involved with anything except he was an executive producer of this movie: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1232779/?ref_=nm_flmg_prd_1

And the company that bought all of the rights tried to make a movie out of clips from all of their games: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0382178/

And it looks like their cancelled game, Citizen X, actually got a release: http://www.gooddealgames.com/Publishing_SegaCD_Citizen X.html

Edit: he also has a special thanks in... Little Nicky!

Weird. I have no idea why he'd go that route - I thought he was content starring in movies and shitty TV.

Ken Melville, one of the co-founders of Digital Pictures, died in 2014.

The woman who directed Double Switch directed Pet Cemetery.

The guy who directed Corpse Killer wrote the screenplay to Child's Play

The guy who wrote Citizen X also wrote An American Tail: Fifel Goes West, the Ghostbusters (2009) video game, and a bunch of other stuff including episodes of Transformers and G.I. Joe.

The cinematographer for Night Trap did Forrest Gump and almost every Robert Zemekis movie since then, as well as a hell of a lot of other movies. Sadly, the people who wrote the Night Trap theme never went on to do other work. The assistant director was also the assistant director for E.T.?!

Ok, here's the wildest one since I started down this IMDB path...

The guy who directed Sewer Shark has two Oscars for the special effects work he did on Star Wars and the second Spider-man movie! Sewer Shark, directed by a two time Academy Award winner!

Edit: Not related to Digital Pictures, but the main actress in Plumbers Don't Wear Ties I guess was a pretty big person in GLOW: Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. The girlfriend in Phantasmagoria 2 was in a heck of a lot of soft core porn...

Holy cow, the cinematographer for Phantasmagoria 2 also was the cinematographer for Wonder Woman? I need to make a thread on all this crap.

Edit: Thread with a couple of other useless stuff:

For the sound board, the crickets chirping was used as a "Phil just told a bad joke" reaction years ago when he made a "Ringo isn't worth very much" when talking about beetle hunting in Animal Crossing New Leaf.

Episode 598: Nice Expletive Model

Episode 600: Hats Off

This week! This week! P1 superfan Rich Grisham puts the hosts and the show under the looking glass to find out what makes these folks tick and how in the heck did they make it to six hundred episodes of a podcast almost twelve years after they started. Thanks for being a listener no matter if this is your six hundredth episode or your first (if this is your first please go back to 598 or 599 and start there instead maybe?). We promise to keep doing this show as long as you promise to never stop listening.

600 is nuts. Longest show I've listened to. I think at least. Not that I was there from day 1. No no. Dormerbot was something I totally missed. Greg Ford was still around for a bit though. I don't really know how many episodes I've listened to, but yeah. 600 is wild.

(I liked the year end roundup)

It's not the most controversial thing said, but the most controversial thing perhaps done while the show was being recorded was when Bane broke Finn's back as Dana screamed in agony in the background. Or, that's my memory of it.

Also, I can't find the episode, but it was the stinger from about 8 or so years ago where CJ was going mattress shopping, and all the inappropriate questions he should have asked the salesman. Including, is this mattress good for some "haaaaaard fucking", which is amusing now since CJ bleeps the swears.

Can't believe it's been 600 episodes, especially when 250 was the last one. Times flies.

I think I started listening when Shane was first a guest (huge fan of 1up yours). I've since gone back and listened to the whole show about 3 times. I worked a job for a while that allowed me to listen to podcasts all day. Congrats on 600 guys. I know Greg mentioned getting Victor on the show. I think you guys should totally pursue that. It would be an awesome episode.

Also, I guess I missed out on that Bully gameclub episode? Anyone have the upload?

I have no idea what the bolded is in reference too but I feel like I need to listen to it.

Love the episodes hosted by Rich. He clearly loves the show and puts a lot of thoughts into the hosting questions. I'm _almost_ tempted to embark on a MisterMrNelson journey. Maybe if I go on a road trip this summer.

Phil was doing the Bane voice and pretending to break his infant son's back like in The Dark Knight Rises and his wife just sighs very loudly in the background.

My highlight from the episode

"it would seem that you are enjoying the digital future very much so."
"I am Rich, yes."
*sniggers* "Jesus."

I've been listening to podcasts at work since 2005, and the only podcasts I've been subscribed to longer than P1P are Dan Carlin's. Other podcasts, like 4th chairs, come and go, but P1P lives on.

Really excited to hear more about Greg's thoughts on Policenauts. I know someone who bought a bootleg Playstation version of the game with a fan patch years and years ago, and I've always thought about borrowing it.
