It's the only part of the design I don't like. Why couldn't they have placed "feet" on each corner like the ones for laying it down horizontally.
i mean the air flows from bottom to top. of course there was a stand

maybe they figure it's crucial for ventilation if the system is vertical, so this is their way of not letting people lose the stand and figuring "eh, fuck it".

Heh, yes, exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for the pic. That's a bit disappointing, but whatever. I for one rarely think any console looks all that appealing, and it's certainly not a factor in which ones I prefer.
is it really a "stand" if it's built into the console? every console has little feet that it rests on. this just has one big one in the middle, like a Mac mini.
also clear sign of which way you should stand it vertically for air flow.
I remember getting a stand for the PS2 I think, and never taking it off despite changing how it was laid multiple times. It doesn't really matter.

Vertical is definitely the way to go with this. It's going to look bad on its side with or without the stand.
yuck, generation of the ugly stands. not as bad as the ps5 horizontal stand, but still not a fan.

Looks very wrong when on its side because of this. I would've had it removable so it can be flat and tidy looking or maybe something to clip on around the existing stand/base just to smarten it up a little.
I mean there has to be because that thing looks like it's blocking more air and it's letting in.
they sent unbox therapy the same things. considering part of their marketing message for the Series S is that it's the smallest Xbox ever, it's not that odd to me
Unstable? It's a freaking box lol. They most likely did this for ventilation purposes as there appears to be ventilation holes at the bottom of the console.
Eh, series X is the second best looking of the next-gen consoles. (Series S is the best)
This thing will be vertical and out of sight and probably won't see it until the start of a new generation
it depends how the did the bottom of it, and yes because the ventilation is from one way to another.
That's fine, I've never actually stood any of my consoles up before so this can be the first one.
