User banned (permanent): Blatant bad faith misrepresentation of moderation. History of hostility and hyperbole towards community and staff.
I just saw the below poster get banned for very ambiguous reasons.

Lmao. This forum has an obvious bias and it's not in favor of muslims pretty much ever, let alone on this issue.

The fact that the mods have banned certain language about a settler colonial state and been too cowardly to actually engage in discourse about why is indicative of that.

I think it's time to seriously address the tense and sometimes hostile relationship between the mod team and brown people in this forum that's been building up, everything kinda exploded on this thread:
https://www.resetera.com/threads/bb...raze-palestinian-village-to-the-ground.66692/

TL;DR on that thread: the mods posted a massive red warning as soon as that thread started warning everybody not to be too mean to Israel, when they were called out they threatened us with not allowing discussions at all on the Israel/Palestine issues.

What happened in that thread didn't come out of nowhere, the mods have been completely soft when it comes to anti-Arab racism or Islamophobia since the start, they pretty much see any racism or xenophobia directed against us as "differences of opinion" with the way they have been moderating anything about the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. That thread pretty much became us venting at how bad the moderation is.

It's been over a month since the moderation melt down on that thread and we haven't heard anything from the mods since, saying absolutely nothing doesn't solve the problem, the current situation between the mods and brown people is not sustainable at all, things will boil over if they continue to bury everything.

There are of course quite a few allies that have witnessed this on many threads, so it's not just brown people noticing this.

Did I mention the mods protecting John McCain because he just died? Would we see such rules on civility if the war criminal that died wasn't white? Say, someone like Osama Bin Laden? Makes ya think how deep the unconscious racism goes.

TL;DR the mods need to deal with their internal biases against brown people because this place is becoming quite hostile towards us OR just admit that you're centrists that are too cowardly to take a principled position on this.
