...game mode for DOTA 2 was just announced as a new game mode for owners of this year's The International Battle Pass.

https://www.dota2.com/international/battlepass/

Roshan is on a ravenous, cheese-fueled rampage and Battle Pass owners are invited to venture beyond the surface of his lair into the heart of the Underhollow.

Battle through a labyrinth filled with monsters, marvels, and many other three-player enemy squads as you search for Roshan's rarest cheese and work to be the last team standing. You'll need to navigate carefully to earn the XP and Gold needed to destroy your opponents.

But don't take too long—Roshan's cheese frenzy is causing cave-ins as he moves towards the center of the Underhollow. Soon enough there will be nowhere left to run.
THE RAVENING BEGINS

Deep below Roshan's lair, a wheel of the world's rarest cheese—Roshefort—slowly comes of age. Join the subterranean race against other teams and battle to be the bearers of the coveted cheese in this madcap multiplayer throwdown.
ENTER THE UNDERHOLLOW

Tread carefully, and choose your path wisely. Roshan's labyrinth is home to fearsome beasts, cunning obstacles, and of course, a priceless wheel of cheese. Work together to explore the maze of caves before an enemy team—or worse, Roshan—finds you first.
THE SPOILS AWAIT YOU

Survive the enemy onslaught and Roshan's advance to claim victory and liberate the Roshefort Wheel. In addition to the joy of defeating your enemies, and the thrill of outlasting the competition to escape the Underhollow, you might be in line for an influx of Battle Points.
People playing it will see their Battle Pass getting new levels for new rewards.

Still no word on how many teams will be able to play it, but the "many other three-player enemy squads" sounds interesting enough.

Battle my royales if old.

Can't wait to try it out when I get home. Hope it isn't as hard as the last additional content they put out, I never even killed a boss :(

So Moba's and Battle Royale's are joining forces. This is the birth of the Sub Genre of Moba Royale (literally with Cheese, because fuck everything i guess...) .

Thing is, since Moba's usually have tons of characters, it is a genuine spin on the idea. Now we look at LoL to see if they Call of Fold, and maybe Blizzard?

How is this BR again? Doesn't even use the term BR in the game mode's description.
A mode where many teams work against each other to be the last team standing, while the maps keeps shrinking and shrinking, there's a randomized dangerous element(Roshan-Red zone), you collect stuff to get stronger to make it easier to survive(gold xp - guns and equipment).

Hell, the end prize is food(Cheese - Chicken dinner).

I also got destroyed in last year's Siltbreaker. It turned me off completely from it.
It probably would have been easier if I had an actual group to play it with instead of a random queue, but each time I tried it we just got demolished. If this mode uses your MMR to match up with people it could be fun and I should be able to do decently well about half the time.

missed the cave ins and shrinking arena... i guess that's the most BR thing in BR games right now...otherwise i wouldn't count FFA and npc controlled enemies a staple of it.

i love that valve are so adamant about not making new games that everything they do has to be a DOTA thing now
Yeah it sucks that they support their games

It isn't by the sounds of it.

Roshan is moving to the centre of a labyrinth (I guess Maze) causing cave-ins that will prevent your possible progression - this is not the same as "everyone has to move more central", if I am reading this correctly.

Also this mode is lots teams of three.

Shame there isn't more detail about the obstacles involved. Considering this is a multiple teams of three game (with no defined limit just yet), it would be good to know how that works, the amount of paths, game length etc. Guess we'll find out soon enough. Shame I'm not playing Dota these days, but looking forward to watching

games? it's just the one.
Let's not derail a thread by pandering to the usual threadshit bait shall we, as this is obviously egregious

Indeed. As always with Valve announcements, we need a whole lot of more information. I still think that this mode is as close to a Battle-royale DOTA 2 as you can get.
Hope it isn't as delayed as Siltbreaker was.

Yeah general trend with Valve is no way near enough information unless you directly ask someone and get a wealth of answers. For a company so sure of understanding its customers, its communication with them remains wonky at the best of times.
I also definitely expect delays.

If the Battle Royale fad ends before Namco Bandai creates "Dragon Ball: Tournament of power" 80 player 3d brawling Battle Royale game, i'll be so mad.
