Thats the price early adopters usually pay, now to understand how widespread this is.

I wonder how much they will play the "new technology"card

The screen is plastic and the thing doesn't close flush all the way around, expect this to happen a lot.

Surely they would have known this through stress testing? Why release such immature technology?

Having the fold on the outside was stupid and the engineers in charge should have realized it was stupid. There's a reason the competitors are making it an internal fold versus external.

I'm no Samsung apologist (I think most modern smartphones are horrendously overpriced, and I especially dislike their Android skin) but it's a brand new device category with lots of moving parts. Failures are going to happen.

If it turns out this is really widespread then obviously it's a big problem, but it's not shocking right now.

They said the screen would be durable enough to handle thousands of folds, and review units are breaking? Fuck that

The most first gen of products.

I don't know why any normal person would buy this when they could just wait for the certainly much improved 2nd or 3rd gen versions.

I guess if you are swimming in cash and just want to play with one.

My guess is they're sitting on them, or applying too much pressure to the hinge since it's not flat. Dumb design that didn't think about current usage habits.

Pretty much what you'd expect from a folding phone, although maybe not that quickly after getting one.

I mean, yes, let's put the main point of stress directly in the center of the thing you look at.

Super interested in the tech, having a tablet that fits in my pocket would be very helpful with my work...

But yeah this is why I don't want to get it until a later gen.

That, uh, feels like something you should probably tell the customers.

Wow that's a huge oversight. Consumers have gotten used to peeling off the protective film that comes with a new phone, so they design a phone with peel-able film that you're not suppose to peel off? Good job.
