Just finished the second dlc story. Got loads of side quests to do but I've got that post main game sadness it's finished so will be hard to motivate myself to go through it all.

Hate that feeling as I just want the meaty main stories to keep going.

Such a great game. Hope they make another one day.

Blood and Wine is so good though...I just kept upgrading my house in hopes that (fill in the blank with how your main game ended) would come visit one day.

Finally finished the main quest and my crash count totalled 17 times, but I never put my finger on the cause of it. I wonder if my Switch is borked or something.

I did notice it tended to crash at random after coming back to it from sleep mode. There was never one specific repeatable way of causing it. If I had to make a guess, it is a memory leak.

Just to make sure, is the Death March difficulty available from the get-go of a new game or do I have to beat the game and/or get to a certain point of the story before it unlocks?
Having already beaten the game on PS4 years ago, I want to go for DM this time.

your switch is not borked is just memory overload.

I had so many crashes I couldn't count. Always happened after sleep then entering or finishing a cut scene even if that cut scene comes 20 minutes after resuming play.

Didn't bother me too much, it's the loading times that annoyed me, especially when I kept dying on a boss.

I am about 30 hrs in, one one crash so far.... and I use sleep mode all the time.
Guess I am just lucky lol.

Do you have a digital copy on an SD card?

Any tips on how to spend Ability Points?

Just experiment with different skills and see what you like, the game is not that hard even in Death March difficulty. Re-spec later is easy anyway just buy Potion of Clearance.

If you want an easy time, I recommend invest points in light attack tree, max out whirl, max out razor focus, battle frenzy, cat school tech, then use Cat school gears. Then Whirl to win with all the crits and never run out of adrenaline. Throw in igni for crowd control (due to burning) and Alt-Quen for healing in battle.
Also level 3 Axii for dialog choice and easy battle in early stage of the game.

Oh one other thing, the crossbow is not for damage. It's for debuff. Alway craft some bolt that does 100% bleeding chance and keep them in hand, It's almost cheating against many boss because Bleeding from bolt scales with enemy hp and last for a long time.

I've had about 7 crashes so far, and while it hasn't happened in a while the textures go weird with bright coloured polygons, I think the worst for me is when the audio cuts out completely or just goes really quiet. It's not ruining my experience but it's certainly not enhancing it.

For how many hours of play?
Does reinstalling the game (the patch in case of physical) helps?

Not sure exactly but I think maybe 130-140 hours?

Actually thinking about it, after restarting the game after a crash it loaded up right at the point of the crash each time so I never lost any progress which makes me think it is a combination of waking up from suspension, cut scenes and saving the game. But like I said before, it really didn't bother me that much in comparison to the loading times.

Apart from that I've enjoyed my time with it immensely playing mostly docked even though I beat it on pc when it came out.

Physical. I would guess I had around 25-30 crashes.
Whereas I'm digital.

I got the feeling on recent plays that manual saves helped but I have to keep playing. I'm past 20 crashes but the last few days have been much better. Unless it's Skellige.

Like, I saved more often and I didn't have any crashes. I could be just going with a bias.

Doesn't stop me from playing but they are fucking annoying.

I just got to Skellige and it seems like the best looking place in the game yet? Is it because the area in general is smaller?

Playing docked on my TV and I'm amazed how good it looks here.

Skellige is simply better looking than Velen or Novigrad. Even on PC Skellige just looks better. It's the combo of colour and contrast mixed with more pronounced silhouettes.

Toussaint is definitely the best looking area. The vivid colours mask some of the lesser parts of the iq.

I went to the brothel twice while on an international flight (economy class of course) and playing tabletop mode. No reason to feel bad about it mate. Own it.

I got embarrassed when watching a clip of Resident Evil 2 remake on the bus with the volume of my phone accidentally on high, and it began with Claire breathing heavily, and it sounded like I was watching porn on the bus! But I'd dig myself into a further hole by announcing that "It's just a clip from RE2 remake, not porn!" 😂

This is the first time I've seen actual genuine texture warping since I played on a PS1 decades ago.
Lol
Otherwise it looks surprisingly good.

Still have problems with the surround sound being ALL OVER the place (speech can't be heard or is extremely low in volume and muffled while certain SFX, like burning fire, almost blew me off my chair).
In fact, it got so bad that I switched to '7 channels simultaneously' which, of course, kills the surround effects. At least I can hear the voices/dialoge now.
Strange

I'm falling out of love with the game after 50-ish hours. I can't really say why. Despite all of its shortcomings, there was something really special with Skyrim; discovering blackreach for the first time, walking in Solitude with "streets of whiterun" as a background music... I just don't have the same connection with the world of the Witcher 3.
Still a great game obviously and a technical masterpiece.
It may just be a downtime. I'll finish the game either way.

In 380 hours in PC and over 75 on Switch I have never seen this. I've seen misaligned body props, missing body parts, missing animations missing textures and enemies walking on air or falling from the sky, but never coloured polygons. Can you show us a screenshot?

It finally happened again!

Behold Geralt and his Technicolor Dreamcoat!

This one has the bonus of Geralt being on frickin' fire!

I had purple trousers in my first three hours of the switch version! I just unequipped and re equipped and it was fine. I figured it was a common bug.

I can't unequip and re-equip houses or other characters without reloading my last save though 😂

Believe me I'm not shitting on the Switch version, I just think it needs a few patches perhaps (especially when it comes to giving us a graphics options such as turning of AA).

I really hope we get a patch that gives us more graphic options and fixes some stuttering.. playing on the Switch Lite and Novigrad is ~20fps..

So I guess if you do everything, you'll be over leveled.

If I'm on the difficulty below death march and I'm doing well with fighting, I should be fighting with enemy upscaling?

It's above or below you, depending on the arrow location. Which is helpful in many areas, including if there are ruins above or below.

I absolutely love this game, there is no way I'd be able to give it the time I have if it I had it on PS4. This makes me very excited for when we eventually get more ports of PS4 games on the Switch 2. I wouldn't be surprised if in 4 years or so we eventually got a portable Cyberpunk.

I'd also love ports of the Witcher 1 and 2. Are there current gen ports on other platforms?

The first game is only available on PC, Witcher 2 is Xbox One X enhanced with the backward compatibility (it's 360 game).
