You're assuming that some sites don't release reviews like this intentionally as part of an effort to draw clicks
In all honesty I don’t mind if it’s a bit easy, now that I’m in my 40s not sure I could handle the endless frustration then again I don’t want a walking simulator need a little challenge, but the discovering secrets will be a challenge itself.

Nah, didn't give the link, nor anybody is going to visit that site ever. But MC should smarten up and filter these shitty reviews.
Man, everyone has their own opinion. Not everyone has to love every game. I was hoping we wouldn't see many threads like this on the new forum. It's just a review, if he wasn't as fond of the game as many other reviewers, so be it.
Having an opinion, even if it's an unpopular one is alright, especially if backed up by competent arguments. Insulting any reader or reviewer who might think otherwise isn't exactly what I'd call professional...I mean, he can still do it, but then he shouldn't be surprised if he's called a dick over it.
That said, an easy game can still be insanely entertaining. Entertainment in games doesn't come from challenge alone. But I guess I'll be testing that tomorrow. Can't wait!

I agree. But, again, that needs to be highlighted as the point of this thread. Without those details, people may get the idea that OP is shitting on a review simply because they do not agree with. Let's not bring old bad habits with us in this new era.
It's why Open Critic should be the standard for review score averages.
What a frigging edgelord. It's fine if you don't like the game (but then he give it a good score?) but you don't have to make out that anybody who does like it is some sort of mindless sheep.
It’s not the score that bothers me at all, but the tone. Professional reviews should not be allowed to be that childish. It’s fine if you dislike the game, but less snark and attitude would be great. It’s rather insulting considering the amount of time and effort that goes into creating video games. At least have some respect when stating why you dislike a product real people spent years making.
Wait wait, both the writer (and I assume the editor) looked at this piece and headline and basically went "yeah, we're metacritic-level quality website, this reflects our opinions and work. gj writer" and proceeded to publish it? I'm not some genius claiming to know who is and isn't qualified for metacritic ranking but... damn man. ):

Any rating is fine for any game as long as you make competent points, reasoned thoughts and explain in detail what works and what doesn't. I can accept a 5/10 for this game (example) if this person goes on to explain that, for example, modern games manage to be more immersive and varied or whatever. It's tastes but you better explain what works and what doesn't. This review kinda insults the people who enjoy the game, which is not cool. Likewise, I'm no fan of reviews like the 1/10 on Yooka-Laylee by youknowwho - you can despise the game if you want, but if you review it I expect to reach the end of it and find out what made you give that rating, not some arbitrary whatever while not mentioning what makes the game sooooo bad.
Insulting people who would like Mario Odyssey is pretty tasteless. You could comment on trappings that you believe would cause a die-hard fan to overlook other flaws, but don’t call them a zombie. That’s just ridiculous.

Haha, reviews that don't align with the consensus are fine, welcome even. If they're well-written they can bring more to the discussion than a "10/10 greatest game ever". But they have to be well-written and this is hilariously bad. Almost reads like parody.
