My best guess is that this will wind up being something unique and new. It could be nothing but it's not like they would actively go out of their way to host a panel at E3 5 weeks before Comic-Con for no reason. I also don't believe this would simply be an episode tie-in as they've already parodied E3, we had an eSports-themed episode last year and they don't tend to make big events to hype up single episodes outside of anniversary milestones - and never before San Diego.

They wouldn't be having a panel at E3 to champion a sequel to a game from 16 years ago that EA didn't even publish. Tapped Out has been winding down in terms of content updates of late so it could potentially be a mobile title. They don't tend to like to do the same thing more than once so I imagine this will wind up being different than their previous efforts with the property.

Honestly, being that a Simpsons game would probably be written partly by the current team, but also by a team of game writers who probably adore the classic stuff, it would seem a game is the best shot we have of decent classic-style humour with good callbacks.

Before TT closed I would've said maybe we're getting a game from that commissioned by EA. But now i'm unsure what this would be outside a mobile title. If it was a spiritual successor or HD version of hit and run i'd be amazed though. Now it could just be the writers working on something else and this is the easiest way to show off their panel without giving anything away.

I'm still waiting on a perfect home port of the arcade game.

A true open world game (better than hit & run.. the ip deserves better than that) is what I want.

If they could do a South Park Stick of Truth style thing (possibly open world) with the Simpsons it would be my dream game...also set the game in seasons 2-8, nothing after. THAT is my dream game.

A modern take on Hit and Run with a single continuous open world with the graphic style of The Simpsons Game brought up to modern standards would be damned near to a perfect game announcement- I voted for that in the spirit of hope rather than expectation.

You're kidding yourself if you think this isn't a mobile game, though- Tapped Out's on the verge of death, and they need a new cash cow.

I seriously doubt this is at all related to Hit and Run. I'm skeptical that it's anything but a mobile/VR game.

I'd love a Hit and Run 2 or a complete remake of the first one with more content from all the seasons of the Simpsons universe that came out after that games release.

But in all realness I wouldn't be surprised just to see a release of the arcade game or a sequel to The Simpsons game that came out last gen.

It's gonna be a low budget mobile/vr game and there's nothing we can do about it.

I thought we had a mobile game already?

Could be VR, it would make more sense as to why the writers are there. I mean look at Justin Rolland. Cartoons and VR games have found a nice cheap game medium to entertain people.

Just to cite precedent, I don't believe there's been a high-profile Simpsons game released of late that didn't have the show's writing staff principally involved in writing dialogue.

I mean, I'm not intimately familiar with the dialogue from off-shoot titles like Simpsons Wrestling and Simpsons Skateboarding so those may have been different. Instead of having fresh material drawn up by the writing team, the LEGO Dimensions level just recycled the chili cook-off plot from El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer. I imagine some of the uninspiring handheld titles of the early and mid-1990s were just a case of the property being licensed and the writing being left up to the game developers.

But most recent high-profile Simpsons titles have all had their direct involvement... from Tapped Out to The Simpsons Game to Hit and Run to Road Rage to, most recently, The Simpsons Slot Machine found in many casinos from Vegas to Atlantic City. The show's current writing team was directly involved with all of these.

Instead of Hit And Run, it's going to be The Simpsons: Run And Gun, made by Studio MDHR.

Nah my bet is on a new Hit And Run
