Yeah I get that, I just dont understand how lol. I guess I'm missing some of the wiring some people have for this.

Because hentai/animation allows you to do total and utter wish fulfillment on a lot of levels that just don't exist in reality and the excitement of porn revolves around just that sexual wish fulfillment.

Can't speak for everyone but animated/drawn stuff is appealing if you're weirded out by how voyeuristic pornography is. Watching recordings of real people in is actually a bit uncomfortable.

Seriously there are waaaaaaay *worse* things that go on in private VrChat rooms.
TFW 70% of your friends list has "worse" models than a hentai camgirl.
Like imagine learning how to use unity and blender and then using that knowledge to focus on making sure things jiggle correctly. 😂

We live in the strangest timeline. And I stg the natural endpoint is literally just gonna be this:

The woman playing Melody is a fucking genius and is about to get rich for it.

All of the camgirl bucks and you don't have to show any of your actual body leaving you basically anonymous while waifu lovers pay you in droves.

Yeah not knocking her for getting the trend rolling but her model is child's play compared to WTF insane shit people have done especially in the porn category....Wonder with the money shes making she will get some serious model work done.

Sure but in this case is this not the opposite? Looking into it she paid for the model to be made as a commission so her wish fulfilment is not only limited to the blend shapes or visemes of the model, but even further so by only being capable of whatever she paid the person to make it capable of. So it has some basic yet poor functionality for taking off a bra but beyond that what wishes the model can fulfill are extremely limited instead.

It completely lacks the spontaneous nature of a real person even the freedom of hand drawn due to its limited functionality.

With this specific instance sure. I was talking hentai and the concept of getting your jollies off to animation in general.

Vr private shows, I can see it happening. It could actually lead to widespread solution of the technology too.

Porn and sex always drove technology forward.

this just feels so gross and misogynist. the last thing these men need is someone further enabling them to maintain their weird ideas and ideals about women. at least when you watch a live woman you have to on some level acknowledge the performer is a human being - severing that connection seems indulgent and dangerous. i haven't been on this week but i wonder how much this has affected other models; whether melody is soaking up regulars or bringing in new people who don't normally use cam sites.

I'd imagine the reasons men actually interact with cam sites -the interactivity, I guess?- being still there would mostly mitigate that. Then again maybe I just don't get the appeal. It doesn't seem particularly gross or misogynist to me (and I don't think watching cam girls inherently means one must have weird ideas and ideals about women either). Not trying to argue you can't see it that way though. /shrug

Now it feels weirder to imagine what'd happen if someone took a model like this and made an AI simulate the camgirl (through fake mocap) instead.

Okay, so I'm gonna admit it. I've kind of been following her and the attention she's been getting for the past few days. I'm not going to lie and say I'm not fascinated by this a bit. But there are some things I think are worth mentioning.

There's definitely a significant 4chan/incel/redpill element to her current fanbase. Some of the early articles and attention have focused a bit on how a few other camgirls on Chaturbate took issue with the idea of a virtual camgirl. I supposed it's only natural that the media is more likely to cover controversy because that's what get them clicks, but from what I've seen I think the backlash is actually pretty small and that the channers are more enamored with the IDEA that Melody is making the "hoes", feminists, and swidgeyjews angry, whether or not that reflects reality. Afterall, to them, ResetEra is ground zero for swidgeyjews and feminists and most of us have been like "this is genius" or are just shrugging our shoulders.

Melody, at least from what I've seen, doesn't seem to be interacting with that part of her fanbase directly. If anything she seems supportive of other models on the site and has only briefly talked about "haters". She hasn't been condemning or trying to correct that misbehavior either, she's basically ignoring it. Maybe that's wise. It's probably better for her brand and her popularity to not try and course correct on some of what is her initial appeal. It's certainly possible over the long term that the channers who are just watching her to try and create a new front in the culture wars will ultimately end up losing interest when the perception of a controversy goes away. I think she might be just a little overwhelmed by all the attention she's getting too. At least outwardly, I can sense some nervousness when people mention her viewer counts. Some signs of an imposter syndrome thing going on. I suppose there's always the chance that she's portraying a character when she talks like that but it does feel like a genuine anxiousness to me. And I do think she is relatively young. It wouldn't surprise me if she really was 19 years old. So I don't think I can be too hard on her.

She's got close to 30k viewers tonite, nearly triple any of the other cammers online. But to be fair, she is the first and only one of her kind on the entire site right now. I genuinely wonder how this affects the landscape going forward, and will follow Melody's career- her character outside of the intended content is endearing enough to listen to. Regardless, I absolutely respect her hustle and think she's definitely changed the playing field from here on out

I've never been a camgirl watcher but I tuned in tonight for the ~ Valentine's ~ stream.

Conclusion: This is really fun. The actress behind her is clearly amateur and that's the best part. The way she loses her train of thought and mumbles her words. Maybe that's all part of an act but it feels pretty genuine. Just a cute naked anime girl shooting the shit with chat about anime, doujins, nerd stuff, life, and sex. Incredibly comfy.

Apparently she has a Twitter account that you can follow her whenever you desire or not. Also, just a little warning that she have some "interesting" NSFW in her timeline.

A 3D Hentai Camgirl Is Taking Over Chaturbate, and Human Models Are Worried

ProjektMelody says she's an AI embodiment of an anime cam model—and has amassed thousands of followers in just three days of streaming.

A 3D anime woman with a black strap across her nipples is giving a lecture on YouTube about whether hentai is art or porn.

"I think there's a higher demand for the odd and the fantastical," she says. "With art, it's flexible, you're allowed to explore your sexuality. And with real titties? No offense, but it's bound to the cruel weight of science, gravity, and bones that only go one way."

ProjektMelody is a virtual avatar of a woman who claims to be the world's first hentai camgirl. When she's not on YouTube, she gives regular, live shows on the camming site Chaturbate, where she dances and fondles herself for tips. She's not real, but there's a real person in there somewhere, moving her arms and speaking into a microphone to any of her 14,300 followers currently in the live chat. She only started streaming three days ago.

On Chaturbate, her location is listed as "Virtual Little Tokyo," and under smoking and drinking preferences, "literally impossible." Her birthdate is listed as July 7, 2000, but more accurately, Melody came into the world in July 2019, when ProjektMelody joined Twitter.

In the last three days since her first stream, Melody has gone from 700 Twitter followers to more than 20,000. The "more rooms like this" tab on her Chaturbate page returns an error: "Sorry, we don't have any rooms similar to projektmelody yet." That's because other cam models are human. Her sudden rise in popularity has made some who aren't working behind a full-body avatar question what place an anime avatar has on the platform.

Signing up for a cam site like Chaturbate requires models to sign personally-invasive usage agreements, including identity verification, where they have to upload a picture of their IDs and take a selfie with their IDs in hand. The platform is strict about this policy: If someone appears on your stream who isn't age and ID verified, you can have your ability to earn tokens revoked.

Melody told me she followed all of the required procedures for signing up to Chaturbate, and spoke directly to a support staffer there before streaming, to let them know what she was planning to do.

"It makes me sad that [other models] don't want me there," Melody told me. "I don't agree with the argument that because I'm safer, and less likely to have stalkers, that I shouldn't be allowed to stream...I don't think camming is defined by the risk models take in their personal lives, I think it's defined by the content that they produce, and the community they build around themselves. I think it's a dangerous precedent to tell future cam models that you are somehow less deserving of being a model, unless you're putting yourself at risk."

Some models question how Melody slipped through, when verifying an anime avatar is clearly new ground for Chaturbate. Given Melody's runaway success, it's raised some suspicions.

Chaturbate did not respond to a request for comment.

It's basically a snapchat filter.

Not according to Melody's creator:

twitter.com

DigitrevX on Twitter

“Q: How does Melody work? A: Simply the tech is complicated and we are not ready to just throw those answers out right now. The R&D into some of this is money and time that was invested to figure out that you are asking me to share for free.”

And she is NOT using VRChat:

twitter.com

DigitrevX on Twitter

“Q: Are you using VRchat? A: Absolutely not. I have friends that are mods and devs in vrchat. It is a huge TOS violation to stream sexual content to the public from their platform. Please do not attempt to use vrc and cause them problems.”

Whatever it makes sex work safer, I approve. Hopefully the tech is getting better and better.

Agree with the bolded. I've taken an eye to some streams of her's (never used CB before haha so that's a first) and the show comes off as wholesome with her primarily talking about nerd stuff that comes to her mind. Whether its due to anxiety/imposter's syndrome or not, do hope that trend of her's continues into ignoring that section of her growing fanbase.

It's hard to find footage of her for "research" when so many results from YT pop up of incels saber rattling.
She's on Pornhub, officially. Just search for "projektmelody" (the name she uses on various platforms). She signed up an account there because she wants to do porn (as opposed to just masturbating for three hours straight while 4chan throws money at her), but for now it's just recordings of her live shows, for people who missed them.

I can't speak for the general audience of camgirls, but as someone who is an active member of a niche fetish community and regularly pays for amateur porn, actively talking to the people making your fap material humanizes the stars far more than in professional porn. You scarcely ever see people in our community calling performers "bitches," "whores," etc, cause these are people we know on a first name basis, and some of them are even open with us about their real lives and have asked for thoughts and prayers before. And understandably, the community also has zero tolerance for creeps. (we're also very LGBTQ+ friendly, for what its worth.)

But let's be clear here: we're still all there to get each other off. That's what porn is for. If you have an inherent problem with paying to watch a camgirl perform, that logically would have to extend to having a problem for paying for any kind of sex work. Which I realize is a position some people hold, but it's not one I can personally understand. The arguments for why paying for sex work is inherently more unethical for paying for anything else in our capitalistic hellhole of a society, have never been particularly convincing to me. In fact, I'd argue paying for amateur pornography is probably one of the more "ethical" forms of consumption, cause it falls under the wider spectrum of paying any person directly for their work rather than going through a corporate middleman.
