Embracer is a very weird name to go with regardless of how many studios they've embraced into their collective @_@
Stick with Nordic, or just THQ Nordic. One is a known brand, the other is Representative of the region they are from and also of their origin.
But Koch/Deep Silver, for example, is based in Bavaria. That's not very Nordic. And they may want to acquire more companies that aren't from that area. That being said, I'm sure they could come up with sth better than... this.

their publishing arm will still be called thq nordic, right? this is just the parent company?
if so that's a good idea, causes less confusion.

That's an unfortunate name change if I ever saw one.

I will not forget their association with 8chan.

First you don't know that they didn't take action. .they just didn't take the action that you personally demanded and required to satisfy your take on this.

I'm all in favor of awareness do not agree with what they did what is the same time constantly name-dropping the site that they promote it isn't helping either. If you search for that site right now on here you find did reference buy more good members trying to do what's right than anything and unintentionally advertising it
I didn't namedrop any sites. If they have taken action (other than "jeez, ok, we won't do 8chan AMAs anymore"), it should've been publicly, clearly & strongly communicated.

Embracer sounds like some corp that is building monsters in an Ubisoft game.

I didn't say you personally did. I mean that we as a community have though. You can see it in this thread even.
It's a bit of a ridiculous notion, though. Should we also not use the word nazi anymore in fear of promoting nazism? 8chan is never mentioned in a positive or neutral way on this site, so there's no promotion going on.

Not America
Someone ought to make a photoshop image of their new logo with two arms stretching from both ends to surround names of other alt-right/neo nazi websites like 8chan, stormfornt, daily stormer, 4chan and NeoGAF.

I don't see this as an attempt to hide the 8chan thing seeing as THQ Nordic GmbH (the company directly involved with the AMA) still keeps its name. This looks more like to alleviate the confusion between THQ Nordic GmbH (Austria) and THQ Nordic AB (Sweden).

I think that's a little different than unintentionally promoting a website for people to look at with way more than just Nazi rhetoric on it

one could argue that we have done a better job promoting that site than THQ Nordic has

that's what everyone was trying to do before you came in here with this "8chan is voldemort" shit

Voldemort implies we fear it. Not giving something the time of the day is not the same as fearing something. A website and an entire hate group are actually quite different. we were promoting the website internally unintentionally while having good intentions.

I'm not saying don't discuss it, let's simply reminding people here in our little echo chamber can't be the answer either. I've stayed in a few times and if we want to see real change we need to do something about it beyond discussing it internally.

I've never told people to forget what the excluded I have said we can move past it because we can but for places like that website and Nazi groups there are other stances we can take and ways to fight it beyond what we're doing here.

I don't treat that website and hate groups as the same because they're not even if they share some of the same messages. Each problem has a different solution

We just have to be careful not to battle one extreme with another

As for THQ Nordic it's okay not to let it go like I said. they are a large corporation that will make money regardless of what we do and say and
They thrive with controversy even more. If you really look at it they're AMA drama did no harm to them in the end. If you want to damage a company like that is the hardest thing you can do to them. I know some people here have taken active approaches to avoid their product and that's fine and dandy that is one form ignoring them. give them no coverage right to websites like IGN to not give them coverage speaker

message in another way.

If you really want to make them pay and you're really pissed make them irrelevant. Send a message to every website that covers them. Cut off their exposure. I promise you they would take action then publicly.

Edit additionally you can find every company that advertises in their games and appeal to them as well to stop advertising in their games which also hurts their revenue

I do not believe we need to forget it or let it go. However what you just did is part of the problem that we are currently creating. if you search for the website you mentioned on this website here there is over 1000 results. That means that we have indirectly advertised that website over 1000 times while trying to send a message that does the exact opposite.

They are a shity website. I would bet you that they know that they are a shity website. We're not giving them bad coverage. We're just giving them coverage.

As for THQ Nordic it's okay to be upset with what they did and never forget it, but if you want to do the most damage to them not talking about them hurts way more than talking badly about them.

I don't like to beat this drum but I can't but to think that our current president wouldn't be where he is right now if we didn't give him free coverage every time he did something stupid. His entire platform was wrong on free press from the other side.

with that said they have stuff true to their word so far and nothing like that has happened since. We don't need to let it go, but we can move on and watch out for this s***.
In what world has "just ignore it" ever worked? Never. This is that whole "if we don't talk about racism, it'll just go away" nonsense. Please get this out of here.

Corporations websites and racism are not the same. Not promoting something doesn't mean you're ignoring it.

Please don't simplify what I'm saying

I don't think I understood the ownership structure. So THQ Nordic has no authority or control over Deep Silver? And THQ Nordic did the AMA, while THQ Nordic Group is the parent company of both?

Don't mischaracterize what I said.

When a corporation is openly supporting a hate-fueled cesspool of the internet that embraces mass murderers, I think it behooves us to call that corporation out by name. (And this applies to 8chan and THQ Nordic) It does no one any good if you try to hide the name under some false pretense of "it just advertises them." It doesn't, it provides a contextual reference as to why that corporation is a disgrace. You used Trump as a direct analogy, and it's also misplaced. The "stupid things he says" have actual effects on people, and trying to just ignore it does a disservice to those people, as well as others who may not know how those words affect people.

What a stupid fucking take! The whole "Just ignore it and everything will solve itself" shit has been proven bullshit since 2016 and that hasn't changed.

That you're more concerned about people talking about THQ than for what they actually did tells me you're one of those "Gamers" who "Just wants to talk about games!".

How pathetic.

Look everyone I know you're all concerned that Trump is turning America into a fascist state but everything would solve itself if you just ignore everything that he's doing!

I am very smart

Don't forget about all the things you're supporting when you consider any THQ Nordic games.

Here's a helpful summary post of all the events for the uninitiated.

Mod statement: "To address a few recurring points: We will not be banning games published by THQ Nordic and subsidiaries like Deep Silver. You are instead welcome to continue raising the issue in threads relevant to the publisher and its games."

If you use Steam and want to ignore all games that THQ Nordic publishes, go to their publisher page while you're logged in, then click on the little gear icon below where it says "Beta" and choose "Ignore this creator."
_______________________________________________________________

These games are being published by THQ Nordic. For those who may not be aware or who may have forgotten, THQ Nordic had a marketing effort where it intended to gain attention using a website that is known primarily for its support of child pornography, as well as for support of Neo-Nazism, doxxing, and other extremely damaging behaviors.

THQ Nordic's provided no response to this fiasco except for an apology claiming they did not do enough research. As the website is unlisted by Google, they had spoken to the board owner about removing "nasty stuff", and content was viewable both before and during the campaign, this claim is beyond belief. The individuals responsible are known not to be rogue PR interns, but go up to THQ Nordic's board. THQ Nordic has not dealt with the individuals responsible, and they released an embarrassingly bad "apology" that addressed nothing.

Consider that by supporting their games, you are supporting a publisher that is complicit with child pornography.
Is this a bot or script that runs when a thread has THQ in the title sis? Literally this entire thread has been about this subject lmao
