Considering the comment from the anonymous dev in the Waypoint article, I imagine a lot of developers in studios owned by THQ probably feel the same way

This is an alpha grade level fuck up. Even if you take the view a lot of gamers can't be let outside 8chan is a level beyond "normal" levels of socially unacceptable. That cesspool is associated with crime surpassing the still unacceptable standard gamer horribleness. In summary fire everyone and salt the land.

I don't know about the rest of people here but I think THQ does have somewhat a solution.
If THQ comes out with a proper apology explaining why what they did was wrong and how they understand its wrong and then gives money to related charities that's certainly a start.
Is a big company, but is not an AAA company, basically Darksiders 3 was made on a quite tight budget. So I think, yeah, people not buying their game will harm them.

It's weird too since the whole thing seems to fly in the face of some of their games. IIRC, didn't Darksiders 3 even have a nonbinary character? Something that should have sent 8chan types into an angry frenzy, and definitely doesn't mesh with the idea they won't appeal to "SocJus types".

Games are a luxury, it's incredibly easy to avoid buying a company's products when they've revealed themselves to be trash. Will you miss out on good games? Maybe, but there are literally thousands of other options.
