It's pretty easy to draw a line at supporting a company that openly shrugs at pedophilia, my dude.

I'm not following the news so close but I don't believe is as simple as that. Maybe they'll take action on this?

Also I'm not saying you shouldn't do anything, I'm saying that I'm not ok on judging gamers for buying a game and not doing the same as you.

I am not going to as far as some of the people here and boycott their games. This is a shit show but at the very least we should be giving people a chance to redeem themselves. There is no history of this stuff with these guys , they made a mistake and a very big one at that but people need to be given chances to change. These are human beings.
In my humble opinion, partaking in a community that--in any way, shape or form--openly supports pedophilia isn't a mistake. You don't get to come back from that. I refuse to believe the PR guy didn't even do a basic google search, given the responses he had in that thread. The guy knew what 8chan was about and still supported it.

In short, fuck him. The people who normalize pedophilia in any way can jump off the face of the earth while we all collectively take a pee on them as they go.

THQN was distributing Microsoft games on windows (and rumored for Switch), I wonder if MS has to distance themselves (they should)
I mean, Microsoft never distanced itself from that Last Night gamergater that had his game showcased at their E3 presentation. At most they'll make another bullshit speech at E3 about how they value diversity and women in the workforce, blah, blah, blah.

"as far as"? not buying a game is like...easy? and it's also not permanent. if they clean house people can go back to buying thq nordic games. not sure why boycott posts are always such a huge focus in threads like these,

Come on dude we've been through this song and dance already. They did this on purpose. Stop making excuses for them.

Sorry for the rapid posting, but: It is as simple as that. 8chan was blacklisted from Google for posting child pornography. They still do. The PR guy clearly knew full well what 8chan was about and still went along with the AMA. Occams Razor = PR guy is fine with pedophilia. Since board of directors man was onboard, too? Occams Razor = He's fine with it, too.

The children whose exploitation is posted on 8*** are also human beings.

Really...

So, a few things:

...

2. To those who are saying people are over-reacting- I am going through the actual AMA (it's truly something else). The THQ people have been answering questions and sandwiched between the queries and their replies (setting aside the quality of responses themselves) are stuff like "DO YOU HATE NIGGERS? BECAUSE I DO.", "RESETERA ON SUICIDE WATCH GET FUCKED, NIGGERS" and myriad reference to "SJW", Nazi and lolis. Suffice it to say, these people from THQN can clearly ALL THESE and DESPITE that, ALL of THAT, they continued to engage with these people.

I earlier said that they made a massive error. Now, I think they are catastrophically apathetic at the least and stupid at best and sympathetic towards the ideals of 8chan board members if not covertly bigoted at worst.

So, knowing these, if you still think or feel that people here are "Overreacting" you can kindly get the fucked.

No.
There seems to be a rotten corporate culture in THQN when you have at least 3 people (one has a chair on the board) participate in a AMA that takes place in a forum of pedophiles and nazis. How can one redeem themselves after that?
These are disgusting human beings and do not deserve people's money, they should be boycotted until the proper things happen.

What a thing to wake up to...

This fucking sucks and it'll suck even more if THQ Nordic gets away with this without any repercussions outside of some bad PR news stories.

Everyone's going to know about this so if there isn't any firing done, and if Nickelodeon keeps their deals with Nordic, then companies can get away with any kind of scandal.

8chan is far, far too obscure of a site for this to be a mistake. The only notable thing about its existence is that it's where all the dudes who were too edgy for 4chan ran to for shelter.

Heh. Honestly this whole debacle's a shitshow. I don't think anyone was trying to "stick it to the man" with this move, it seems more like a lot of morons working in perfect accidental synchronicity. Some mod from 8chan either getting lucky or knowing a guy from THQ Nordic, then some fuck who actually likes that place agreeing thinking it's more going to be an epic meetup between buddies and not a public PR event for the company he works for, some PR rep or manager who didn't care enough to screen a pitch from one of their underlings even slightly. I wouldn't quite call it a win for 8chan, it certainly isn't a win for THQ Nordic, and I don't think anybody mad about this now is going to remember or care about this debacle in 2 weeks, tops, because consumer boycotts have a real shit track record in the gaming industry, so what's there left to do but point and laugh?

Why is it all the anime avatars are the ones low key defending this

I really doubt at this point that up to 3 people involved on this didn't even checked the web they were doing an AMA, that given how the tweet promoting it was written ("We don't know why we are doing this!!") and that they engaged in the AMA in the way they did that this was an accident. So all these points are clear:

1) They went for the AMA even after, surely, all the criticisms it raised.
2) They knew it would be 'provocative' (to be nice, it was vomitive), given the wording of the tweet announcing it.
3) They actually engaged in the vile stuff that web promotes. They actively synergized with the people in that board instead of seeing a damn loli anime picture and going "yikes, we should get the fuck out of here, the fuck in this place?".

This is not a mistake, this was a fucking vile PR move to align themselves with those kind of people.

I understand where you are coming from and I agree to an extent. This excuse that the PR guy didnt know what 8Chan was is ridiculous. He is in PR. I dont think they intended to normalize pedophilia or child abuse though imo. This was poorly conceived edgelord bullshit which needs to have repercussions but do all the studios under them deserve to get affected ? Game devs are already having a hard time holding on to their jobs.

Yikes

If they sack absolutely everyone involved in any way with okaying this, then condemn it in the strongest possible words from the very top, that would be a good start.
But with the CEO basically saying "our PR manager already apologized", I'm not holding my breath.

That guy in the image? That is Reinhard Pollice. He is a board member who owns 115,681 class A shares and 655,524 class B shares in THQ Nordic AB (publ), is Director of business and production development, and is the most powerful public facing person at the company, behind Lars himself.

He knew. He took part. It wasn't just a PR guy.

Not to mention Fabian, and potentially others who were in on it.

these days, nazi sites are so widespread that i look up any site i'm not familiar with before even clicking a link

how could they not do 2 minutes of searching before deciding on the site to host their fucking official PR? no one can be that stupid. at least some of the people involved need to be fully ok with the kind of site it is
