Hard to take the outrage too seriously when the well runs dry so quick.

Outrage Marketing. Do something to spark moral outrage and controversy, apologize saying they didn't know (they knew what they were doing), and then sweep it under the rug and move on while enjoying more brand recognition and have the subset of people who they targeted initially with this market scheme defend them and purchase more of their games. Worked for Keurig, worked for Nike, worked for Gillette, and now seemingly it worked for THQ.
Hbomberguy video on the matter of "Woke Brands" gave a warning at the end that said something like this would happen, that a company will eventually try to do the opposite of progressive woke marketing and here we are.
I said it before, but I'll say it again. Victims of child pornography like myself will suffer from this event knowing that there is a chance, even if it's small, that more people now have access to child porn media of ourselves due to THQ's little marketing stunt, meanwhile they get to suffer no consequences for their actions and even enjoy a little more brand recognition.

Agreed. As a victim of molestation myself I was infuriated when it seemed that the situation died down and barely got covered on YT news channels. The few that did (Reviewtech, Jim Sterling, Spawnwave) got dislike bombed by weebs and nutcases (especially RTU, I guess his fanbase consists of those types of weirdos sadly who turned their backs on him for callingg THQ out) who flooded their comment sections saying that 8chan is a totally fine site that did nothing wrong and anything bad on there was planted by a journalist that's the REAL bad guy. (When that's obviously a big fucking lie, especially the bit about the site being anything remotely close to "fine")
I even found it annoying how Yongyea just did nothing about it at all, either due to fear of getting his audience to turn on him like RTU or just to ignore the situation entirely, and then bitched about EA for the millonth time. I Pointed that out in a discord server I'm in when someone was upset about Anthem due to his newest video and I was dismissed as being overly sensitive since EA is "more evil" due to lootboxes and THQ was just memeing and they apologized, disregarding the long period of time that site link was up and the whole bad implications of the awful PR group behind the mess.
That's what this is going to be labeled as, isn't it? "Just Memeing?" Is that and "shoutout to mark" going to be the new dismissal for people who seriously find what they did fucked up?
I'm not insane for thinking that someone in that group of PR people needs to be fired for damaging the company and developers' reps so badly by doing succh a horrible thing with this AMA, am I?
No but removal of those involved is not a quick gesture given the various factors and the investigation is ongoing last we knew.
Anyone, anyone that dismissed your concerns about this issue is a person to not be associated with. Do not be disappointed about the YT comments though. The most vocal ones are the idiots and they will eventually have a very hard time in their lives because of their stupidity. Most people that are decent stay silent because they do not want to have any kind of relation with them.
This silence is explained because well, what can you say to a nazi or a pedophile defender that the outcome of this discussion will make up your time?

Point being, you don't actually understand what you're talking about if you think the problem is knowing a company did a bad thing.
Oh I know it's not immediate, it's just the whole uncertainty of this all and how it seems that it's all vague and such makes me nervous that it's either going to be brushed under the rug as no big deal or done in silent. I just wish they at least owned up better instead of literally leaving the link on the twitter for so long, waiting a week to do a mediocre apology, when they could have just gone "oh shit yeah that's awful we removed all traces and will quickly put a stop to this in the future."
But from what Khan said devs they work with aren't happy in the slightest and since I have major respect for folks like Black Forest Games, I can't help but worry for them since none of the devs wanted this to happen or had anything to do with this at all. Also, the fact that the Ars reviewer got a review code for Darksiders for asking about this situation is just really, really a big red flag. I had no luck getting THQN review codes due to my site size but after this incident I have zero interest in working with them until this is all resolved, even if they gave me copies of their entire catalog.
This site may get out of hand and make big deals out of nothing (trust me, I have the etectera board totally muted for a good reason, my anxiety doesn't need to get worse and some threads on here just make me baffled) but this is ABSOLUTELY a big deal, at least in the sense that it was a really dumb move that didn't seem to be treated as seriously in the company itself as it should have been (Any other company I have as a PR contact would have probably gone on lockdown and tried to resolve the issue ASAP instead of waiting and being quiet like this). The press did a fair enough job with what we knew (save for my aforementioned disappointment in the YT space) but the fact it's treated like a non issue despite the nature of said site they linked is just sad and I'm just fuming that it seems nobody else is bothered by this.

He announced the shooting on 8chan, linked to his Facebook where he live streamed it and the users of the site were cheering him on.
And that is the site THQ decided to have a fun little AMA on.
That is always the kind of site 8chan was. Those from THQ posting on it were aware that it was a white supremacist playground before they posted and during.
