Not surprising that the loading times are faster considering that the WiiU was a trash system at that. Still good to know although I wish there were more visual improvements.
Definitely getting this.

I'm going to buy this one as I loved the original version and having it on the Switch is really convenient, but it's kind of a disappointing port:
-No changes to the inconsistent edits
-No new party members
-AFAIK only a new song and some new dungeons
-No better resolution (this one is the worst offender)
-No new translations or even english dub
I appreciate having quick sessions though, and I recommend this game to all people that never played it on the U, but I expected a better port, having another 720p without antialiasing version feels really lazy and even if there's new content the lack of visual upgrades makes the port the feel worse than all the games that have been released with less new content.
My girlfriend loved Three Houses (finished it 4 times to see all the endings)
Would she like this game or is it really different ?
I was referring to new languages (Spanish, French, etc...), AFAIK the game will be released again in English only.
Loading time and graphics comparison.
While graphic improvements appear to be minimal. Loading time saw a huge improvement with 2 times faster than the Wii U version at minimum.
Wow, those loading times make a world of difference.
*looks at Wonderful 101's load times* Come ooon Switch port!
It's pretty different. Though it has Fire Emblem characters, the gameplay is more in line with Shin Megami Tensei with Press Turns and spell names and spell weaknesses. It's also way more modern with commentary on the Japanese idol industry and not so much political drama.
No, they're more like side fluff for character building. Kind of like slightly the longer version of texting in P5 or shorter versions of skits in Tales games. Thanks ! Does it have "conversations" like in Three Houses where you can talk to party members, recruit them, give them some gifts etc ?

It's been a while but I'm pretty sure that there was. You'd have time to kill in between dungeons to do side quests and hang out with the other party members. The best part was the text messaging system though, it really worked well with the U pad.Is there a time of day or calendar system in this game? People are comparing to persona but I'm not sure how deep the similarities go
The similarities are superficial. Japanese entertainment industry teens by day, fighting entertainment fueled enemies in a parallel world by night kinda deal. Main characters have a "persona" in the form of Fire Emblem characters, but there's no theme relating to the psyche here. Fusing doesn't exist, but there is a simplistic weapon crafting system. There is no calendar system. Side quests take the place of Social Links. Set in modern day Japan. Etc.Is there a time of day or calendar system in this game? Really? Well that's good to hear, I can understand translating it to Chinese but I'll always wonder why they do French instead of Spanish. It was the same for Cold Steel III, and it's well known that Spanish is spoken/understood by far more people.Nope, the Wii U release was English-only but they added Chinese and French for this version ! :P

It took me 40-50 hours I think? Did almost everythingI forgot I used a voucher on this. How long is this game? I really enjoyed Persona 5 a lot, and it was probably the biggest surprise of the gen for me. I cleared about 98% of my backlog, and don't plan on getting anything until Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Well that, and the weapon triangle works; axe enemies are weak to sword based attacks etc.No, they're more like side fluff for character building. Kind of like slightly the longer version of texting in P5 or shorter versions of skits in Tales games.
This game is closer in format to linear Persona than it is to Fire Emblem. The only Fire Emblem influence is that your Personas are all FE-inspired characters.
To be honest it was really easy to notice when they released the Japanese previews a few days ago, but it's disappointing nonetheless. No 1080p docked is really wierd. The game doesn't use the added GPU power at all?
The overall game is much, much faster. In terms of overall pacing how does this compare to Persona 4 and 5 (i.e. the only JRPGs I've actually completed)? I've got an itch to get this game but I'm a little worried that it's going to suffer from an overly long runtime.
It's not an extremely long game. I think I played like 50 hours and I got to see all of the side content. When it comes to pacing, the game is set up with chapters and intermissions. In between the chapters, you have an intermission where you can do side content.
The pacing of it is pretty good for the most part. When I played it, it originally took me around 50 hours to finish with a majority of the side content completed. In terms of overall pacing how does this compare to Persona 4 and 5 (i.e. the only JRPGs I've actually completed)? Aside from some New Game + content like the secret superboss, it's entirely possible to clear all of the game's side content in one run and still clock in at about 70 hours in the Wii U version.Ah, that's good to hear, thanks! Persona 5 got absolutely ridiculous with how drawn out it was (the main reason I ain't even touching Royal) and you couldn't even see all side content in one playthrough of that game.
Thing is for me I rarely play JRPGs (I've yet to finish a Final Fantasy bar XV, for example) so this would literally be the third one I've ever finished if I do complete it. Would you say that the game is 'for me'? I don't really know.

Well, I think the gameplay is fun. It's been a long time since I've played it, but I don't remember hitting difficulty spikes or forced grinding. It's fun all the way through.
When it comes to the jpop theme, I wasn't bothered by it at the start and I liked it by the end. I remember skipping some music video cutscenes, but it was fine.

When it comes to Persona 5 I definitely agree. The amount of text messages in TMS is way too much for me though, lolI honestly think TMS is better than Persona in just about every way.
