So to act like this is some buffet, just strolling around picking up some qanon, then going to take some of that incel shit, put it all on a plate and then proclaim that this is what Hunnam believes is borderline insane.
No one said that. We can see which of these views Hunnan prescribes to, he volunteered that info himself. Doesn't mean he believes in everything that fits the "dark web" label, but everything that does--especially from Peterson--is reprehensible.

Bari Weiss's propaganda to introduce the NYT audience to people who are gateways to the alt right and race ralisim. Unfortunately she's such a fucking moron and reprehensible shitstain that she decided to name them after the part of the internet best known for illegal porn and assassin hire.
It feels like stupid people's concept of "intellectual" is whoever is wearing a tie and talking in a loud voice.

A) ohchristforgivemeisweariloveeverybodyandthistotallyisntastatementhastilythrowntogetherbymypublicist
B) I'm sorry, if you were offended you fucking snowflakes + A double down with a wink and a nod to the alt-right.
C) Absolute silence

Is Dark Professor a self given title for Peterson or is that just a joke at his expense? I'm unsure.

I think what I like most about cancel culture is how it's built on the correct assumption that people remain the same throughout their lives, and no degree of additional context, education, or personal reform can make up for the fact that they were, at some point, misguided.

It's great to be able to sort human beings into piles and know that I'm just plain better than the people I cancel, and always will be.

Ok, Charlie. You're really hot. But not hot enough to get away with this.
He is indeed very hot.

This is an odd thread to go in with this since the interview was posted two days ago. This isn't a "we dug up some old tweets" shit.

In regards to the context of the actual interview itself, I think there's real lack of reflective irony in saying that people have grown soft and aren't entitled to anything while at the same time lamenting the way that soldiers have trouble reintegrating into society.

Like he can't see the link between those two things. That people can have trouble integrating and getting along in society due to traumatic events or the way they are treated. That perceptions of others can be affected by a lack of interest and empathy. He can see it with people like him, but not with anyone else...

Interview was 13th of march. It ain't some point, it's right now.

Yeah, ERA! Why don't you give Charlie the benefit of the doubt? People learn from their experiences, he could be a totally different person now, than the man in that interview from *checks Men's Health website* two days ago!

Imagine if Marvel had cast this idiot as Thor.

Not that Hemsworth doesn't have his own reasons for cancellation, but the internet seems to be more forgiving if...

He is indeed very hot.

Oh.

Nice.

It blows my mind that anyone who listens to Jordan Peterson can come away that he's a smart individual. The guy spits vapid nonsense and uses lots of words to say absolutely nothing.

How is this motherfucker the face of right-wing intellectuals? You can feel the cringe from everybody in that room.

I had to stop at 40 seconds. He makes no fucking sense lmao. He doesn't even finish a sentence before starts rambling about something else.

Yes, he's hot and stupid. I'm not saying "forgive him for those sweet abs, lol!" People who follow Jordan Peterson are fucking idiots. I'm saying it's possible to move on from foolish views with reflection and life experience, so "canceling" people in the sense of, like, boycotting them completely, is an overreaction if you're not talking about a sex criminal or something.

Also the team sports aspect of cancel culture is distasteful. It's possible to be right and morally superior without peacocking.

From what I know of Peterson, I'm still convinced that he's just some wannabe rockstar saying all this shit for the attention.

But what's worse is that people actually believe in said shit.

He honestly never came off as a particularly bright individual. That being said, repugnant politics aside, I still like King Arthur and Pacific Rim.

Wait until he gets into the lobsters lol

Anyone know whether Hannum was right wing before SOA? Wouldn't be shocked if their crew either pointing him in that direction or converted him to this.

The most dangerous thing about Peterson's message is it's being spread along racial lines too. I live in a mostly Mexican-America area (we're the majority by a good amount) and people love this guy here. I see black artist in my area telling people that his book changed aged their life.

Everyone is just not able to understand how toxic he is

Cultish figures like Peterson thrive on keeping their audience mired in lack of self worth and low esteem. Their messages of self blame aren't conducive to personal growth because they maintain doubt and judgement, of self and others. This keeps their followers in a sort of paranoiac flow. Cult behaviour is just widespread now.

To privileged people like Hunnam, I would imagine Peterson's message fills a void and then later renewed his narcissistic ego. It's sort of like how Tom Cruise is psychologically affirmed by scientology, because he is rich and advanced in the hierarchy, compared to the lowly follower who is held captive through lack of self worth. The rich unintelligent follower is affirmed because the message, usually nonsense, justifies what they already think of themselves - that they're awesome. For the lowborne unintelligent follower, the message keeps them caught in that parasitic state where instead of affirming a sense of ego fulfilment, it keeps them always questioning themselves - but beyond healthy parameters. It's like a constant self analysis, which is dampening instead of enhancing.

Positive self growth comes from exploring and discovering through others and learning from and adapting to them. This is why the likes of Peterson mold their message the way they do, because they don't want their followers to actually engage with longer term positive personal growth. Messianic figures aren't what leads to becoming a better person and really aren't necessary in the long run.

Why has cancel culture evolved from boycotting sexual assaulters/rapists/monsters to boycotting anyone who does anything we don't like?

Sounds like he watched a few of Peterson's shitty "ownz" videos and based his vocabulary around them. Straight white men need to find comfort somewhere.

Oh no, not vanilla white guy #27!

Looks like all his roles will go to Jai Courtney! Or the dude from Avatar! Or Joel Kinnaman! Or Joel Edgerton! Or Jason Clarke!

Hey now, Joel Edgerton and Jason Clarke are pretty decent actors. I wouldn't throw them in with the rest of the generic white dude actors.

Question that is semi-related, anyone have that twitter thread or article that goes into how people like JBP are gateways/bridges to Alt-Right and even worse ideologies?

These cult personanlity types always lead people down the rabbit hole to somewhere incredibly stupid or alarming.

"Cancelling" is the dumbest thing. Just tell people about your chosen figure's problems and let them decide whether or not to keep supporting them, no need to make an event out of it.

Like... I know that's basically what the OP is doing, and I'm obviously against this alt right / "intellectual dark web" bullshit... but the eagerness at which people seem to be "cancelling" people and the labeling as such nowadays bugs me. Maybe in the end this is basically just an old man yells at cloud post but whatever
