Yeah. Nothing against someone like Jessica Curry, but I definitely don't think she has enough to be rated above Keichii Okabe yet.

Almost completely invalidates the list.
I know Toby Fox has only put out 1 game and a demo but I'd put him up there. If you ask me which composer I would want to hear a new OST from, he would be near the top of the list.
Kobayashi is one of the most legendary video game composers around as far as I'm concerned, but I wouldn't even consider his non-placement an omission since he's virtually unknown in most circles. Which is a damn shame. As far as the big names go, Marty O'Donnell is the biggest omission.
He did? I tried to find detailed soundtrack credits but couldn't find anything.
Oh alright then.https://www.zeldadungeon.net/koji_k..._for_skyward_sword_discusses_importance_of_m/
He always did one or two tracks in each mainline Mario/Zelda game until 3D World.
I think Yoko Shimomura has a strong claim to be ranked above Kondo.Koji Kondo was robbed, in broad daylight. Swap 1 & 2.
Really though, Kondo's scores are far more iconic, memorable and dare I say varied than Uematsu's.
Xenoblade 2 and Torna are recent.Happy to see Mitsuda so high. I was worried they might forget about him.
No Marty O'Donnell?
I knew there was a reason I don't watch these guys anymore.
He did Ballad of the Goddess, the game's main theme, aside from the returning tracks from previous games.
The list makes sense based on the games they generally enjoy, but a list that is more comprehensive would probably include Russel Brower (WoW, partic WotLK)
I think that from the Top 5 they picked, Uematsu should be number 5 and not 1, but even so a solid list. Kondo, Mitsuda, Shimomura, Wise... are the top composers in videogames easily. Surprised to see Meguro too high or even on the list, I love Persona music but I don't think his compositions are as good as most composers on the list, they lack the "classic" feel.
No Marty O'donnell? No Okabe? No Soule? No Mick Gordon? No Jesper Kyd? No Kirkhope? Wut?
I dunno, I love his music more. I like Uematsu don't get me wrong, but I never felt that FF music is that good, and that's a big part of Uematsu's work. I think that Mitsuda is far better than him at doing the "melodic epic JRPG music", as well as is Kondo in general, and both Shimomura and Wise created some pieces that I'll remember all my life, which I don't think I'll do with most Uematsu's music. And never felt that the OST in The Last Story or Lost Odyssey was especially great tbh.Putting Wise above Uematsu would be insane.
And I adore Wise. But that just wouldn't make sense.
Naw, just that those composers deserve a spot more than some of those in the list. It's all opinion but I've pretty much heard nobody give praise for Dear Esthers OST outside of that list. You must be under the impression more than 10 names can go into a top 10 list.
That's honestly the only outlier on the list.Naw, just that those composers deserve a spot more than some of those in the list. It's all opinion but I've pretty much heard nobody give praise for Dear Esthers OST outside of that list.
No lie, I think she can easily be #1 or #2. I'd definitely rank her above Koji Kondo.Shimomura's placement is kinda bothering me, as I want her to be in the Top 3 but the people above her are REALLY good.
It's just that she's my favorite composer since Street Fighter 2 and has done so so so much.
Two of my favorite tracks from her is Out of Phase from Parasite Eve and Zangief's Theme from Street Fighter 2.
Yeah, this list fails because of this omission.
No lie, I think she can easily be #1 or #2. I'd definitely rank her above Koji Kondo.
Meh. I'd put these over most of the list:
Michiru Yamane
Michiko Naruke
Yuka Kitamura
Steve Henifin
Hitoshi Sakimoto
