https://newzoo.com/insights/rankings/top-100-countries-by-game-revenues/

This table features the top 100 games markets ranked on their revenue estimates for 2018 in descending order. These estimates are based on a combination of primary consumer research, transactional data, quarterly company reports, and census data. The revenues are based on consumer spending in each country and exclude hardware sales, tax, business-to-business services, and online gambling and betting revenues.

Just look at the connected population of China and how 'low' the revenue is compared to other countries.

That's why there's a gold rush.

China being top is surely due to mobile gaming, likewise with Japan. Obviously population is a huge factor too.

I found the ratios for the population vs internet population more interesting than the actual revenue column.

Weird to see NZ so low on the list. You'd think the Kiwis would have similar spending habits as us Aussies, yet their revenue per capita is barely 30% of ours. Rather unexpected.

Brazil could be so much bigger if video games weren't considered luxury items. Charging 30% of a average João's monthly wage in a game is a f*ckin joke. People have to eat, you know...

Mexico's position is actually surprising, BUT I think most of that revenue can be attributed to Steam and PC games

I wonder how this list would be without counting mobile, I imagine that’s where the majority is coming from Japan and China.

Damn, if you're not in the top 15, you're fucking decimal dust.

Also the average spend ($ / Population) in Japan and Korea is triple digits, compared to a a lot of other countries where it's single digits or even less, that's absolutely insane.

Peru at 49th place. Surprised to see Venezuela above us, you'd think their market is shrinking as more Venezuelans get out of the country. Situation is so dire that right now 1% of Peru's total population (which is 30 million) is comprised of Venezuelan citizens who have migrated.

I'm amazed that Chile is barely on top of Venezuela. We were supposedly one of the top consumers in the region (well, we are, but we're lower than I thought)
