I don't really get hand-waving the trailer on the premise that it's unlikely a real, functional product will come from this. How often is a pitch or a proof of concept as compelling as this one?

Well, I mean, the reason theyre usually not as compelling is because developers know how nigh impossible it is to make a game like this. Any high tier developer could make a badass looking concept video that promises the moon and back (and Beyond Good and Evil 2 is doing that) but then youre stuck with a No Mans Sky situation.

I hope they manage to deliver!

I don't understand what's wrong with being a bit skeptical, the project seems really ambitious for a small team.
Did people already forget No Man's Sky ?

It looks very interesting, leagues ahead of BotW in terms of visual design - but the animations need a lot of polish. Pretty damn impressive for 6 people in 12 months.

Re-watching the trailer and the game is crazy ambitious if I'm getting the right read off of certain things that we see portrayed. For example it looks like we have the ability to develop a settlement from a couple tiny little structures to several towering buildings including windmills but in another scene it looks like characters are gardening and transforming an entire area into something else. Then add in the fact that this is a multiplayer title and its kind of mind boggling. Obviously this could all be far far more limited than I'm imagining things but as its depicted they're trying to do several things most don't get right when focused on individually. It looks awesome though so I hope they pull it off.

Looks too good.

I was enjoying it then it reminded me of pre-release No Man's Sky trailers.

No offence to the devs, I wanna be excited.

Looks cool, but, for me, needs to be an Early Acess for some time and let the people play and explore the possibilities.

I saw Breath of the Wild and Harvest Moon, but I didn't saw Shadow of the Colossus. It's because of the giant enemy which seems to move slowly?

Those things are nothing new in survival building games. There are dozens of games like that on Steam, some of them made it to consoles too like ARK and Conan.

What sets this game apart from the others are the wonderful settings and its inhabitants, as well as the BOTW artstyle. Most other games are set in very generic forest/medieval themes.

Yeah, apparently. And you can climb them.

Calling what was on display BOTW art style a disservice to the artistic teams behind both games.

It has a couple of BOTW game mechanics and that's it. But the two mechanics it does have are a big deal. Fully interactable climbable NPCs is a challenge without fixed climbing points. Environmental effects with a ton of cause and effect interactions requires AAA budget to be as bug free as BOTW so I'm expecting a ton of quirks if this team releases this game with their small size even if backed with outsourced 3rd party grunt work teams.

What blows my mind nearly as much as the environmental interactions are the multiple NPC critters on display. They make a point of using them as a sign of regional health and progression and it seems like they react to changes in the region which is crazy due to how much they move around changing positions. That can't be computationally cheap in a multiplayer game.

I hope they get their account back in order, whatever the problem is. That video looks phenomenal. As others have said, definitely a lot of Nausicaa (and a little Princess Mononoke, with the Forest Spirit expy) in there.

Gameplay-wise, some of it might be a little too straight of a lift (the gliders and climbing could have been ripped straight from BotW). I'm not enough of a Monster Hunter player to say for sure, but some of the other bits remind me of what I've seen of that series. I'd definitely play the heck out of it if it delivers on half of what's shown in the teaser.

The 6 'core' developers wording plus what is on display definitely tells me they have contract or part-time people they aren't including in the 6 number.

Well that looks very, very ambitious. I mean, within such a short time, that's pretty damn incredible. Be interested to see an actual gameplay session even at this early stage just to see if it's anything like all these cuts. Will definitely watch to see how this progresses.

Hard to say, its def possible for 6 people in a year to do an insane amount of work, definitely when it comes to the number of assets you actually need for something to look pretty impressive, plus animations being very very rough. I also doubt any of the systems teased there are actually working gameplay systems.

I remember HAWKEN who has the same core team, using a lot of clever ways to reuse a lot of assets (parts of the mechs) within their environments, scaled up, and down. with some clever texture work look way more impressive.

Never ceases to amaze me how a small group of people can put together such ambitious projects. Definitely keeping my eye on this.
