There's also places with no laws on the books against, but it is life threatening to be out due to cultural homophobia.
100% this. None of this is about offering protections to these people nor consequences for those who seek to do harm against LGBTQ individuals. People will still be free to shit on them in however many ways they like simply because they're not straight.
My thoughts as well. This is good, though obviously there's work to be done even in our own country.
