The modern GOP:

the norms misser @cd_hooks

truly excellent that the GOP's messaging on this amounts to "lol, u mad?" https://twitter.com/NRCC/status/1151251891680096256 …

NRCC @NRCC

The emotional socialist Democrats have become so blinded by their hatred of @realDonaldTrump that they have lost all ability to effectively govern https://www.nrcc.org/2019/07/16/emotional-democrats-have-lost-their-minds/ …

They're also spamming the press with emails and gleefully retweeting about it:

lol, nothing like spamming people with over a hundred emails starting "Hey there" calling members of congress "deranged" like you're some kind of crazy stalker to prove your point.

Lmao, white doesn't count as a color, does it?

Technically it is. I have always hated the term "PoC" and instead chose to say "non-white". However the implication of the term "PoC" is tied to the history of usage of language by those in power to denote without them when the latter were owned as slaves or seen as people beneath them to be conquered.

It's incredible how scummy and hateful the Republican Party is. There is no floor to how shitty they are, there is no depth they won't sink to to prove how much they hate everyone.

Wait, 75% of them didn't vote? Well, those people shouldn't have their seats. Dem or Rep.

That was from earlier in the vote.

I would have thought non-white would seem more offensive, implies white is the default and every other race needs to be described in relation to it.

That's not the final vote.

Besides, it's not like this resolution matters really in any way. Regardless of his chances of removal, the house Dems need to do their job and start Impeachment hearings based on his crazy ass tweets alone.

All the tweets and resolutions are a waste of time and it's getting old.

I'm so tired of the tut-tutting from the Dems. The fact that we've gotten this far and they're still just going "FOR SHAME" instead of doing anything of value is driving me nuts. He's never going to stop, he's never going to course-correct, he's never going to get better because this is who he fucking is.

Pelosi needs to goddamn resign. The left needs a leader that actually cares about doing shit instead of this pathetic, half-handed attempt at "being better" while still begging the Nazi shitstain for help with their own votes.

I can see how it would be. A better alternative would be to simply refer them to black, white, brown and then asian. Point is, PoC, had it not had the historical significance puts everyone non-white in a single category. Both of them lose a sense of equal footing in an equitable world. But because it is not, PoC remains the phrase of choice to denote those who have historically and/or presently continue to, on an institutional level, be disadvantaged against their white counterpart.

Good fucking god, burn everything down

"You know, they talk about people of color. I'm a person of color. I'm white. I'm an Anglo Saxon. People say things all the time, but I don't get offended," Pennsylvania GOP Rep. Mike Kelly told VICE News before the blowup over Pelosi's comments. "'With a name like Mike Kelly you can't be from any place else but Ireland.'"

IRISH IS NOT ANGLO SAXON. THERE WERE WARS AND FUCKING DECADES OF TERRORISM FOUGHT ABOUT THIS VERY FACT.

These people can't even be white properly.

I see that the republican move from this point onward will be to redefine racism itself out of existence.

Trump could stand in front of a camera tomorrow and say "Here is a person I hate because of the color of their skin," and the next day Republicans will be saying "what is 'color'? We have to stop making up words that divide us."

This was a juicy takeaway quote:

How do those people feel about huge tax breaks and government handouts for corporations that benefit the stockholders more than the people doing the actual work?

That's a strategy piece commissioned by the RNC. Only two things were even in the realm of possibility of positive for them going into next year's elections. It doesn't matter what they are, the truthfullness of them, nor any hypocracy, it's what can be done to counter it.

Cuz as we've seen, they've been force to put in these two lone ace relief pitchers in very early innings. Know how they throw and win.
