So they want them dead or to break them out? I'm guessing it's the latter.
The latter. At no point during the war has Turkey truly opposed ISIS, the only time Turkey attacked them was when the YPG and SDF was advancing in the area in an attempt to link up with other YPG fighters. A successful ISIS breakout from any prison would be great for Turkey as it would divert thousands of SDF soldiers away from the front.

How are people in Turkey feeling about this?
Elation, excitement and pride (at least in the media) for the "heroic Turkish forces".

Kurds have basically no cultural/media presence in Turkey except for in relation to the PKK, so there's no nuance about it or anything. Coverage of Trump I've seen was mostly relegated to indignation about the "I'll destroy your economy" tweet from Trump (that Trump publicly threatened to ruin the economy of a NATO member and it not being the scandal of the week tells you all you need to know).

At the bare minimum Trump and his entire administration need to be tried and jailed for crimes against humanity.
Nah they need to feel consequences to make sure something like this won't happen again. Sanction them into oblivion if there is a terrorist attack because of this.
If those are supposed to be our friends might aswell go with China.

How are people in Turkey feeling about this?

Divided.

Right wing is always happy when Turkish army shooting people.

Left wing is furious over this "safe zone" bullshit, and people is getting more angry after seeing Syrian refugees in comfort in their own countries. "Our boys are dying in a foreign country for these fucks and they're chilling at hookah bars!" is the exact menatlity of leftist/modernist part of Turkey.

Left opposition CHP is trying to expose AKP and this safe zone as bullshit by passing a law that will initiate the deportation of refugees to this "safe zone" after it's declared but it will most likely be shot down by Erdogan's party, AKP.

Looks like The Guardian acknowledges that the Kurdish fighters in the region are very much affiliated with the PKK, no?
Experts are pretty much on the same page when it comes to this

German kurdologist Eva Sabelsberg said last year that there is practically no difference between YPG and PKK

I'm no expert. What I got from the guardian piece was:
  • Many SDF members were members of the YPG.
  • The YPG was an offshoot of the PKK.
  • The PKK has been an insurgent force in Turkey for decades.
  • Turkey wants to push all SDF out of a section of Syria and then offload all their Syrian refugees there, serving their purposes for breaking up Kurdish majority along the Turkish border and not having to deal with refugees anymore. It seems like Turkey considers all SDF their enemy, regardless of whether individuals were part of YPG or PKK.
EDIT - And I see people from the region weighing in and want to reiterate, this is just me having read an article/following news from here in the states; not trying to claim anything beyond that.

A message to all our "allies". No one will ever trust us.
Again, if you go back to the very start with Chris Steele about Trump being groomed to be a Russian asset, all of whats happening achieves the goal of destroying the US from within, which is exactly what Putin wanted.

Doesnt even matter if its true, its whats happening.

This will backfire in a colossal way... This is terrible. Not only ISIS Will be back bit nothing will prevent the YPG to radicalize and become something like the PKK.

dude this is PKK, a Marxist/Leninist revolutionary armed group labelled as a terrorist organisation by US/EU/UN who is fighting the Turkish government for the past 30 years.

This is the Nero phase as the realization that he can't keep his crimes in an NSA server hidden forever. Underlings will talk, and pols will not defend him the way he believes they should.

This is what happens when terrorist Republicans have power. How's that accelerationism working out for you Ms. Sarandon?

This is insane. On top of leaving allies to die he's fine with hardened terrorists escaping into Europe in the chaos?

Are there any depths to which this gibbering narcissist won't stoop?

At least nero wasn't potentially controlled by an outside dictator.

This is grave.

kill who??? Kurds are not this monolithic entity. 12-15 millions of Kurds are already living in Turkey, Istanbul has more Kurds living in it than any other city in the world. Turkey doesn't need to cross in to Syria for a genocide. Kill YPG aka Syrian branch of PKK who is actively at war with the Turkish government??yeah that's the intention here.

Just listen to him answer those questions in the clips above. He has absolutely NO CLUE what he's talking about.
