Kind of like an SRPG-lite, but you actually move the characters around when in battle, rather than selecting where the character should move?
I find this kind of battle system to be immensely satisfying for some reason.
Nope.
Yea for me it was just better to go with the classic camera as i felt gameplay was better because of it
Not turn-based.
Oh good call. Valkyria Chronicles 4 also does this.So grid-less, free-form movement during movement phases? Valkyria Chronicles 1 (and the rest, I assume), and Divinity: Original Sin 1 & 2 do this.
Is not turn-based. Ability cooldowns are not turns.
The free movement is also really smart, given that so many little things can alter your movement/status, and thus affect the range/effect of your skills.Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2 do this. The environment always plays a huge role in these and makes every combat encounter feel different. It's a fantastic combat system.
fun fact, movement meant something in DQ10, which was made by the same devs (Orca)which is a shame. I hope they actually use that mechanic in the next DQ :(
I was eyeing Lost Dimension on Steam earlier, it's basically what the op is asking and with main focus on the combat, so it's fun if you wanted something straight to the point.

yup, don't sleep on Growlanser OP, just the kind of thing you were asking forThe most underrated Atlus IP ever - Growlanser series. I highly recommend Wayfarer of Time (Growlanser IV). Great game.
Lost Dimension is pretty damn good too.
Not at all. You don't move in any way. Pushing the enemies to different tiles is not what OP is asking for.
Already mentioned with that exact caveat :)Dragon Quest XI? You can move during battle but I don't think it changed anything.
