So I had a bit of a surprise visit today, as the technician had to come verify my TV before he could get approval for a panel replacement; if LG doesn't foot the bill, then the cost of the panel would come out of his pocket, so he came and did a picture test with his magic remote.
Unfortunately, the LG rep he spoke to claimed that the banding effect was too minor to warrant a replacement. He did say that the warranty was good for another year, so if it ever got worse I could try calling again.
It is what it is. It was always a minor thing that I could mostly ignore under the right brightness settings, but I figured it was worth a shot.
That said, his picture test ended up resetting all my TV settings, so I need to go back and set up the optimal picture settings for all my crap. That's why I wanted to take this opportunity to ask about recommended settings for the following:
1. Apple TV content running at 4K/HDR/Dolby Vision
2. PS4 Pro and Xbox One X
3. 1080p stuff like the Nintendo Switch, SNES Mini, etc
4. PC (also at 1080p)
