Jesus Christ Superstar Live! - NBC (April 1)

Set for Easter Sunday, NBC will bring to broadcast television "Jesus Christ Superstar Live!," a one-of-a-kind live staging of the iconic 1971 Broadway rock opera with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice.

"Jesus Christ Superstar" was originally conceived as a concept album that hit #1 on the Billboard charts, and eventually made its way to the stage in 1971. It is based on the final week of Jesus' life.

The cast includes John Legend, Alice Cooper, and Sara Bareilles.

The Child in Time - PBS (April 1)

With tenderness and insight, the film explores the dark territory of a marriage devastated by the loss of a child. Corner Gas Animated - The Comedy Network (April 2)

The series will follow the everyday lives of the residents of the small town of Dog River, Saskatchewan. When refugees from a war-torn country start seeking asylum in a small American fishing town, it becomes clear that something strange is going on. The residents soon learn that the country they are fleeing from is America, and the war they are escaping hasn't happened yet. While the government sets to work trying to untangle the truth behind the ominous migration, the fact that the lives of those involved will never again be the same seems to be the only thing that no one can deny.

The Last O.G. - TBS (April 3)

"The Last O.G." centers on Tray, an ex-con shocked to see just how much the world has changed when he is released from prison for on good behavior after a 15-year stint. In each episode of "Fastest Car", three souped-up "sleeper" cars, tinkered with and lovingly labored on, go head to head with one of the world's most sought-after supercars. Don't believe a 1971 Ford Pinto can beat a Ferrari 488 GTB? Or a 1984 Buick Grand National will leave a McLaren MP4 in its rearview mirror? There is a whole subculture which begs to differ.

To prove Susanna can't handle royalty, Nate's mother brings her to Cambria, but though their love remains strong, Susanna leaves, and Nate convinces his mother his love is true. Will watch:
The City & The City - Tony Grisoni wrote The Young Pope so I trust him on this.
Killing Eve - Phoebe Waller-Bridge is one of the brightest new talents we have. And the trailers have looked excellent.
Paterno - Al Pacino puts in the work on his HBO films so they're usually quite enjoyable (of sorts) to watch
Bosch - The worlds most solidly watchable show. Not ever going on my top ten probably but it's a real nice relaxing watch.
Elementary - Look, it's the one CBS procedural I let myself watch. It's pretty damn alright.
Bobby Kennedy for President - I love these types of documentaries, and Bobby Kennedy has been a fascination of mine for years
Handmaid's Tale - The first season was the best new show of the year, so I'm back for more.

Might Watch:
Deep State - I love spy fiction, but the trailers haven't been great and it is the first comission for Fox international.
Lost in Space - If it's well received.

Shows I will watch because they speak to me on a fundamental level and I'm not sure that's a good thing:
Aggretsuko - A red panda. Singing death metal karaoke. I do not possess the faculties to say no to this.
Nanny Killer - This Lifetime movie will be trash, luckily so am I.
Bite Club - Okay the trailer was kind of dull but the logline still was: "a troubled police officer and dog handler in the eight-part drama, an unconventional police procedural, in which ex-lovers who survive a terrifying shark attack are thrown together by fate to hunt down murderers. Monaghan's character, Stephen Lamb, grew up in an abusive family, was chained to a dog and bitten as a child, and as a result has developed a serious psychosexual perversion that will play out across the series."

OK, so serious question here.

I just watched the first three episodes of Better Call Saul, in just those three episodes I have been more engrossed than in the entirety of Breaking Bad. Why does anyone consider Breaking Bad better? I assume Better Call Saul just gets better from here on out too.

Saul Goodman >>>>>> Walter White as far as interesting, watchable characters go.

Edit: For the record, I've never been a huge fan of Breaking Bad.

Edit #2: Holy shit, Brockmire is back! I forgot about that show. I'll be watching that, Westworld, and the rest of Atlanta along with catching up on Better Call Saul.

For non-Netflix shows, I try to highlight ones that are mostly already over - season wise. So The Terror will get a highlight in either the May or June threads!

People like Breaking Bad more because it has more action and is overall more bombastic.

I'd argue through three episodes (small sample size, mind you), the action is comparable. Then we have the added boon of not dealing with Walt's family life and getting 2 out of 3 of the best characters from Breaking Bad in Mike and Saul.

Posted in the March thread as this one was going up. Sorry about that!

So excited to have The Americans back even if it's the final season. :( Had a leisure month so I actually managed an entire series rewatch on Amazon Prime.

I'll probably DVR Legion but I'm honestly not in a rush to watch it. I thought season one was good, but it just didn't grab me.

I should probably finally get around to Westworld. Been revisiting Lost on Hulu and watching The Looming Tower, which I'm generally enjoying and man even for a docudrama the show has no problem shitting on the CIA lol.

I might have to sub to HBO again for some of these shows. I already missed Silicon Valley from last week.

I'll probably watch Fastest Car on Netflix as well.

Oh awesome, I can finally catch up on The Expanse over the next couple weeks. Never watched it but been meaning to.

RatskyWatsky Confused about one thing though. I've been seeing advertising for Deep State premiering in June. Something like "Deep State: A New Original Series - SERIES PREMIERE THIS JUNE — ONLY ON EPIX." but this says April.

Is it the same show or do they only coincidentally have the same name?

Good to see thew New Girl aka "The tales of Winnie the Bish" is coming back. I'm sad Elementary is at the end of the month, but that new Alan Cummings show "Instinct" will fill that void until it airs.

The Crossing has similar vibes as The 4400 for me,so I'll probably check that out.

The previews have been targeted to people who watch Lost, if that's any indication. If you watch ABC, they'll have a 15 second promo every commercial break showing ocean waves wash over some sand with text like "From the network that brought you LOST, comes your next TV obsession. The Crossing" and that's literally the entire promo, it's all they show you.

Thanks, Ratsky. There's too much tv on these days, but you do a great job organizing these monthly.

Lots to watch this month!

Yea, I saw the commercial, but unless it ends on a similar note like the Lost pilot did then I'm not expecting too much. I don't remember the promos for Lost tease much of anything outside the obvious plan crash before it aired.

Wow, I don't think I care about any of the new shows starting in April. That's probably good though with all the returning shows I'll be watching.

I finished Season 2 of Into the Badlands. That was one hell of an improvement over the first season, and it's some of the best television I've watched of the 2017 shows. Damn was it good, not only in action and choreography but also with performances and story developments. Unfortunate with all of the cuts they added to the fights but hopefully they move back to the style of the first season.

Anyway, I'm ready for Season 3 next month. So many shows are returning it's incredible. I should finish Legion and The Expanse S1 too, got two episodes left of each.
Interesting, I dropped the show after the first season, I might reconsider after I'll find a good recap of what happened in season 1. ;)

Is Counterpart only 10 episodes long?

Atlanta is fucking great so far.

Also watching Krypton, Unreal, and I see Ice is back, I totally need to finish S1.

I'm most excited for Killing Eve. I loved both Fleabag and Crashing, so am excited to see a new show from Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Rellik and The City and The City sound interesting too. Might try them.

Of returning shows, I'm most looking forward to The Handmaid's Tale which was my favorite drama series of 2017. The 100 is another favorite of mine and I thought Season 4 was much better than the previous one, so I'm excited to see where they take that next. I'll watch Westworld and Scream too, but am not super excited for them I guess. I am behind on The Originals. I got a bit bored with Season 4. I would like to catch up at some point though to watch the new season. There already so much I'm behind on though, I'm not sure when I will.

Cunk on Britiain starts on Tuesday on BBC Two in the UK. A mockumentary written by Charlie Brooker (Black Mirror). I doubt it'll be shown in the US, of if there's any interest in it at all, but I'll be looking forward to it.

Also excited for Westworld, obviously.

Imposters, after I finish the first season.
Legion
Westworld
The Handmaid's Tale
The Expanse
Lost in Space
The 100
Howards End, I've never been a fan of the story but I might give this version a look due to everyone involved.

I tried to get through Siren but sadly I couldn't make it past the first episode, made me want to watch The Lure again, more than anything.

It's a bunch of shows in April I'm looking forward to, with Legion being the first one on deck.

Just resubscribed to Starz and watched the 1st ep of Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3. They waste no time before the evil fukkery kicks into gear.

Going to give The Crossing a chance, because the premise intrigues me. I don't have any subscription services or streaming services, but will also be watching Westworld and probably continuing on with Fear the Walking Dead even though it sucks.

The Middle isn't changing time slots here, but it's one of my favourite shows.

Archer is back, finally. Hope it's better than Archer Dreamland.

I missed that Westworld is back on the 22nd. Count me in for that too.
